How to do proper facial cleansing at home

What is deep facial cleansing

Today, malfunctions of the sebaceous glands and excess production of sebum are a problem that is relevant for 80% of women living in large cities. There are plenty of reasons for this - a bad environment, stress, an unhealthy lifestyle, poor nutrition, hormonal imbalances and much more. The point is that the skin begins to look worse. Acne and blackheads appear (they are also called comedones), a greasy sheen appears, pores expand, and the face loses its attractiveness.

To cope with these problems, you need regular cosmetic procedures that help eliminate excess oil and dirt - the so-called deep facial cleansing.

When and who should not cleanse?

Many people believe that visiting a beauty salon or similar manipulations at home on their own is allowed for absolutely everyone.

This is a deep misconception. Mechanical facial cleansing has a number of prohibitions:

  • acute dermatitis;
  • herpetic rashes;
  • eczema;
  • dry or sensitive skin;
  • any manifestations of allergies;
  • inflammatory skin diseases;
  • blood diseases;
  • hypertension;
  • bronchial asthma.

You should not clean your face during menstruation or with pronounced premenstrual syndrome.

The tendency to inflammation is also an obstacle to the procedure.

Indications for mechanical facial cleansing:

  • large pores;
  • excessive skin greasiness;
  • the presence of wen in large quantities;
  • decreased skin turgor;
  • blackheads, especially in the T-zone.

Important. Mechanical facial cleansing gives a pronounced lifting effect by improving the movement of blood and lymph in the upper layers of the epidermis.

Features of the event

There are many methods, some of them are available only in the salon, but it is more than possible to put your skin in order on your own. To do this you will need a Uno spoon - a professional tool. Also, if desired, you can view portable versions of cosmetology devices. Such, for example, as devices for ultrasonic peeling (also called a scrubber), galvanotherapy or vacuum cleaning. You don’t have to buy everything, check out the technologies and choose what suits you best. The price of these devices varies and ranges from 2000-8000 rubles depending on the model.

You will also have to take care of the complete disinfection of your hands, instruments, facial skin and the place where you sit to carry out the procedure. Sterility is important - after all, it’s not difficult to get an infection.

Read the list of contraindications and make sure that the procedure is harmless for you. Carefully examine your skin for inflammation, ulcers and open wounds at the treatment sites. Postpone your session until everything has healed, otherwise you risk worsening your skin condition. To make acne go away faster, you can treat it with tea tree oil or salicylic acid. But I strictly do not recommend squeezing them out!

In the salon, I or any other cosmetologist who deals with you bears the responsibility for identifying contraindications. He will examine you and ask about your health. When you do deep facial cleansing at home, the responsibility falls entirely on you.

How to prepare your skin for cleansing

Before you begin the process of cleansing the skin, it is prepared. To do this, its type is determined.

There are 4 main ones:

• dry and sensitive skin; • normal skin; • oily and (or) problem skin; • mixed type (with oily T-zone or dry cheeks).

The thinner and more delicate the skin, the more gentle the cleanser should be chosen so as not to injure it. To clean oily skin, it is recommended to choose harsher products and methods.

First of all, the facial skin is treated with a cleansing tonic or milk. Also suitable are various kinds of gels, foams, and mousses for washing, which can be used daily. This is necessary to remove makeup and surface impurities.

After washing off the cleanser, you need to use a more serious cleanser: peeling, scrub, cleansing mask. It is recommended to carry out a similar procedure 1-2 times a week, depending on your skin type.
Immediately before the procedure, wash your hands thoroughly. This will eliminate the possibility of an inflammatory process. Important information. Cosmetologists categorically prohibit manipulations to cleanse the face if there are wounds, pimples or other inflammations on the skin. Such procedures will worsen the condition of the epidermis and the healing period will increase.

Operating principle

Deep cleaning at home, like a similar salon procedure, is aimed at removing the stratum corneum and excess oil, comedones and other defects. To do this, the skin is first disinfected and undergoes a special treatment that opens the pores.

Then it is cleaned of plugs and excess fat using manual instruments, sometimes in combination with hardware methods. Afterwards the skin calms down and it’s time to close. The result is a fresh and healthy look, even tone and beautiful color.

Ultrasonic cleaning

Ultrasonic facial cleansing is similar in degree of impact to medium peeling. The skin is not injured, and there is no redness after the procedure. On the contrary, visually she looks healthy, radiant, beautiful.

The procedure is carried out by an ultrasonic scrubber, which is tuned to a certain frequency and, acting on the epidermis, provokes many chemical and physical processes. They are aimed at stimulating the renewal of cellular structures, separating the stratum corneum, and clearing blackheads and acne.

The procedure can be carried out in any season, without preliminary preparation of the skin. The cleaning itself lasts 10 minutes, the rest of the time is spent on preparing and setting up the device. Also, at the end of the session, the cosmetologist applies a restorative, soothing mask for a quarter of an hour. The cost of such cleansing in salons starts from 2000 rubles.

Important. Before the procedure, the doctor interviews the client to identify possible contraindications.

Indications for the procedure

I recommend cleansing your face at home to all my clients with oily and combination skin. This hygienic procedure serves as a prevention of more serious problems, for which you will definitely have to contact a cosmetologist.

So keep an eye on your face and cleanse it regularly if your skin:

  • excessively fatty;
  • prone to acne and rashes;
  • covered with clogged pores and sebaceous plugs.

But ordinary cleansing masks and products do not help.

What can mechanical cleaning be combined with?

If the procedure is carried out at home, it is recommended to supplement it with various masks, scrubs and tonics.

This is done both before cleaning and after its completion, and allows you to achieve an effect close to that of a salon, plus it helps the skin recover faster after a traumatic intervention.

Pre-cleaning steps

Procedures applied immediately after steaming:

  1. Film mask made of gelatin and activated carbon. Crush half a tablet of activated carbon (black) into powder, add 1 tsp. gelatin and the same amount of boiled cool water. Mix everything and put it in the microwave or in a water bath. The mixture should become homogeneous and liquid. Using a brush with natural hard bristles, apply the mask to your face and wait until it dries. Gently pick it up from one edge and remove the film, being careful not to tear it.
  2. Clay mask. Mix 1 tsp. white and blue clay, pour a cool decoction of chamomile onto the eye. The consistency of the mixture should resemble homemade sour cream. Apply the mask to your face, paying special attention to the T-zone. Wait until it dries, then rinse with cool water. Wash yourself with chamomile decoction.
  3. Natural peeling. Powder a couple of tablespoons of almonds, add a little kefir (1%) and mix. Apply the resulting thick mass to your face and massage vigorously but gently with your fingertips, paying special attention to the T-zone. Wash your face without soap. Rinse your face with chamomile infusion (you can use yarrow infusion).

Advice. Immediately after the recipes described above, facial cleansing is not done. It is necessary for at least a day to pass for the skin to rest a little.

After this, repeat all the steps described in the Procedure Technique, including steaming, and remove what the masks and (or) scrub could not remove.

Methodology

To do deep facial cleansing at home, you need to adhere to the same basic rules that a cosmetologist does it in a salon. The procedure is carried out in three main stages:

  • skin preparation;
  • actually – cleaning;
  • soothing and restorative procedures.

To enhance the effect, you can perform some additional manipulations, which I will discuss below.

Preparation

Facial cleansing at home does not require special preparation. This procedure, in principle, cannot be particularly traumatic. The only thing worth remembering is disinfection. Don't forget to treat your hands and tools with antiseptic.

Cleansing

First of all, wash your face, rid your skin of cosmetics and surface contaminants. You can apply a cleansing mask and lightly exfoliate. A popular ingredient in folk recipes is soda. Different ingredients are added to it depending on the type and condition of the skin, then the composition is applied to the face with massage movements and left for 8 minutes. If the skin is dry, soda is mixed with milk, combination or age-related - with honey, oily - with hydrogen peroxide in a 1:1 ratio.

You can also tidy up oily skin using a salt scrub. Salt is mixed with grated cucumber in equal proportions. This mixture is massaged onto the face for a minute, and then left on the skin for another seven as a mask. Then wash it off. A scrub made from freshly ground coffee and sour cream is often used.

Steaming

After peeling, the skin of the face needs to be steamed so that the pores open, and the fat and impurities soften and easily come out during cleansing. This can be done at home as follows. Take a large saucepan and boil water in it along with chamomile. Then cover your head with a towel and hold your face over the steam for 10-20 minutes. At the same time, be careful and stay at a comfortable distance so as not to get burned.

If you don't feel comfortable using steam on your face, you can use a hot towel soaked in the same herbal infusion instead. Chamomile is a natural antiseptic; it will open pores and have a soothing effect on the skin.

After steaming, remove any remaining moisture with a napkin and treat your dry face with an antiseptic. Now you can begin to deep cleanse your skin.

Mask

There are many recipes for home remedies to combat pollution. One of the most popular is a gelatin film mask with activated carbon. Its components are easy to get at pharmacies and regular grocery stores, and they are inexpensive.

Take a tablet of black activated carbon and grind it, mix with one teaspoon of gelatin and two of water, beat thoroughly. Then reheat by putting it in the microwave or steam bath for about fifteen seconds. Apply the mask to problem areas and leave until completely dry, and then remove.

The reviews for this product are the best. When you remove it, everything, even deep dirt, remains on the surface of the black film.

Manual cleaning

If the charcoal mask still does not help and a couple of deep comedones remain on the skin, they can be removed manually. Many people crush blackheads with their fingers, but I recommend purchasing a Uno spoon - a tool that I myself use in my work. It is inexpensive, and will not sit idle if you decide to clean your face regularly.

It is better to work with gloves, and the device must be disinfected with a special antiseptic alcohol-containing product or ordinary vodka. The standard Uno spoon has two tips - one with a strainer, the other with a single hole in the center.

The first is used to cleanse the entire face area of excess sebum. They are smoothly moved over the skin, pressing lightly and adhering to the massage lines.

The second tip in the form of a spoon with a hole comes to the rescue when you need to get rid of individual deeply embedded dirt. You need to install the device so that the head of the sebaceous plug looks into the hole in the spoon and press down. A column of subcutaneous fat will easily come out. During the cleaning process, the removed fat must be removed and the instrument wiped with a cotton pad moistened with a disinfectant.

Narrowing pores

After deep manual cleansing, the skin needs to be soothed. Here again a compress based on a decoction of chamomile and other medicinal herbs will come to the rescue. A mask made from raw potatoes and cucumber will give a good effect. The ingredients need to be broken into a paste using a blender and applied to the face for 15 minutes, and then rinsed with warm water.

The final touch is to narrow enlarged pores. If this is not done, the skin will quickly become inflamed and dirty again. To do this, freshly squeezed lemon juice is diluted with water in a ratio of 1:2 and treated with it on the face, especially the holes left after removing comedones.

You can also apply compresses of gauze soaked in chlorhexidine to these areas and leave them for half an hour. Afterwards they are removed, and the treated areas are sprinkled with talcum powder. And they leave it like that overnight.

Skin care and recovery

After a deep facial cleansing session at home, the skin must be protected from ultraviolet radiation for 3-5 days. Refrain from going to the beach and solarium, avoid aggressive influences, do not go to the sauna and avoid heavy physical activity.

To consolidate the results after the procedure, pamper your skin with moisturizing masks and creams.

Scrubs and masks for cleansing

To clean your face at home quickly and effectively, you can use a scrub. It is the most popular remedy among the female population. You can buy it at the store or make it yourself. Approved for use on young skin.

Perfectly evens out the texture and color of the skin. Tones, thereby preventing the premature appearance of fine wrinkles. Different degrees of abrasiveness of particles can provide the desired result. Creamy texture with many small particles gives the effect of polishing the epidermis.

Suitable even for damaged skin, if you don't make any effort. Filling the scrub with large abrasive particles (coffee, salt, coarsely ground fruit seeds) promotes deeper cleansing. At the same time, it is more traumatic. These products should be chosen for oily skin.

Scrubs from such brands as:

Vichy – Normaderm Unclogging Exfoliating Gel (850 RUR); • Nivea – Pure Effect Clean Deeper (250 rubles); • Clean line – Perfect skin 5 in 1 (180 RUR); Cleansing with apricot kernels (70 rubles); • Lumene – Matt Touch (320 RUR); • Garnier Clear skin 3 in 1 (300 rubles); cream-scrub Basic care (250 rubles);

Some women prefer to prepare scrubs at home. The most effective recipes:

1. Coffee. Add brewed coffee grounds to a neutral cleanser or sour cream. Distribute over face and massage. Leave for 5-7 minutes.

2. Saline. Similar to coffee, coarse or finely ground salt is added to any available product. 3. Oatmeal. Oatmeal is pounded by hand or ground in a coffee grinder. Mix with honey and apply to the skin.

What procedures can it be combined with?

Manual procedures give a good effect in combination with hardware ones. At home, you can complete your deep cleansing session by treating your face with the Darsonval device. The average price for it remains at the level of 3000-4000 rubles. It affects the skin with high-frequency pulsed currents. As a result, microcirculation accelerates, skin tone is evened out, pores are tightened, and the sebaceous glands begin to work better.

Manual cleaning goes well with ultrasonic peeling. The device for it can also be purchased at a specialized store. In this case, treatment with the device is done before cleansing manually, and a special gel is applied to the skin before the procedure, which improves the conductivity of the waves.

This is a completely painless process and helps get rid of surface contaminants. The deep “plugs” remaining after ultrasonic treatment can be removed manually.

Peeling at home

At home, only a superficial type of peeling is available. When used correctly it is quite effective. You can quickly cleanse your face using fruit acids or a professional kit that will contain everything you need.

An affordable fruit peeling recipe is a mixture of rosehip oil, olive oil and citric acid in a ratio of 1:1:0.5. Apply the resulting mixture to cleansed facial skin for 5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with water.

A good result can be achieved by using a set of the Korean brand Dermaheal “Anti Acne Aqua Peel”, in which the active substances are glycolic acid (3%) and polyhydroxy acid (7%). The cost of the set is 1000-1300 rubles.

Contraindications

I already wrote above that deep cleaning is not recommended for those who have ulcers, inflammations and open wounds on their face, such as abrasions, scratches, cuts. In addition, the following will be a contraindication:

  • individual intolerance to individual components of the products that you are going to use during the procedure;
  • skin diseases;
  • burns;
  • cardiovascular diseases;
  • irritation, severe peeling of the skin.

Deep cleansing should also be done with caution for those with dry skin. You cannot use aggressive compounds, only soft ones. And after the session, you should definitely apply a nourishing cream to your face.

If you have rosacea, it is strictly not recommended to steam or use a Uno spoon! To cleanse your face at home, use mild, gentle products and a portable ultrasonic peeling device. This is one of the few procedures you are allowed to do.

Top 5 mask recipes for cleansing facial skin

Among the variety of recipes for cleansing masks, several of the most effective ones are highlighted.

  • Universal - for any skin type. Herbal. Pour boiling water over an arbitrary amount of calendula, chamomile, St. John's wort, and sage herbs and let steep for 20-35 minutes. Pour the infusion into a separate container and spread the remaining grounds over your face for at least a quarter of an hour. In the future, you can wipe the dermis with the infusion twice a day.
  • Drying – for oily skin. Clay. Grind half a cucumber into a paste, add 5-8 drops of grapefruit or ginger essential oil and a few tablespoons of clay. Stir until smooth and apply to face with massaging movements for 20 minutes. After the mask, the skin significantly brightens, becomes soft and matte, and oily sheen is removed. With course use, a slight tightening of the contour is observed.

  • Moisturizing – for dry and sensitive skin. Honey with aloe. Mix the aloe leaf crushed in a blender with a few teaspoons of liquid honey. Apply the mask to a clean, dry face for a quarter of an hour. Rinse off with boiled cool water.
  • Universal – for combination skin. Cottage cheese. Combine the required amount of crushed oatmeal, cottage cheese and milk to obtain a thick mixture. Apply locally to flaky, dry areas of skin or to the entire face for 10-15 minutes. After time, massage and rinse with warm water.

  • Anti-inflammatory – for problematic skin. With tea tree oil. Grind a few sprigs of parsley and 7-10 drops of tea tree oil in a mortar. Mix with 8-10 gr. chilled sour cream. Apply to face with a cosmetic brush for a quarter of an hour. Rinse off with warm water.

Important information. Cosmetologists advise that to obtain the stated result, masks must be done 1-2 times a week for a course of 3-4 weeks.

Why is it necessary to cleanse your skin?

Tonic and foam cleanser do not help 100% get rid of blackheads that are located in the deep layers of the skin. As a result, dust and sebum accumulate in the pores, and the process of inflammation begins, which leads to the appearance of acne.

Deep cleansing of the facial skin will help remove dirt accumulated in the pores.

The advantages of this procedure are as follows:

  • germs will not penetrate the blood;
  • subcutaneous microcirculation will improve;
  • blood vessels will be effectively strengthened;
  • Contaminated pores will be gently and intensively cleansed;
  • inflammation will be relieved;
  • The protective functions of cells will be enhanced.
  • your complexion will take on a healthy, radiant look.

Cosmetologists recommend facial cleansing not only in cases of deep contamination, but also as a preventive measure, because every day our skin is exposed to external irritants: dirt, dust, sebum.
