Get rid of unwanted fuzz on your face quickly and easily

Almost the entire human skin is occupied by growing small hairs, but if in some places they are almost invisible, in some places they have a pronounced character. Almost every girl has fuzz on her face, however, some have very thin, light and almost inconspicuous hair, while others have noticeable hair from birth.

Most often, vellus hair generously covers the area under the nose, and also appears on the cheeks, cheekbones and chin area. And women with fuzz on their faces begin to actively search and try various techniques for removing unwanted hair.

What is this?

The Oxford Dictionary describes peach fuzz as similar to the discolored hairs on the chin and upper lip of young men who have just reached adolescence. In fact, this vision is a little outdated, so it’s better to get an expert opinion.

Esthetician Dr. Sean Arendse of Flawless Rejuvenation explains: “Peach fuzz” is the term used to refer to vellus hair. Vellus is very fine hair that is usually lighter in color and can be found on the face, neck and other parts of the body.”

Unfortunately, women perceive this fine, fluffy hair as something terrible, especially when they catch a glimpse of it in the mirror. But all people have some kind of facial hair—everyone just has a different amount or thickness.

Reasons why women have dark hair on their chins

In normal health, dark, thick hair, called hair, grows in women on the scalp, eyebrows and eyelashes, armpits and pubic area. Sometimes this type of hair growth begins to appear in places atypical for women - the chin, above the upper lip, arms, legs, groin, chest, etc. This condition is called hirsutism. There may be several reasons for it:

Changes in hormonal levels

Among women

it occurs most often twice in life - in adolescence and menopause.

In teenage girls

, especially with an unsteady menstrual cycle, hormonal surges are observed. There are alternating surges of estrogens and androgens in the body, which is accompanied by oily skin and a tendency to develop acne, increased hair growth, and changes in emotional state.

In women after 45-50 years

The production of estrogen in the ovaries begins to fade, which means the concentration of the male hormone, testosterone, becomes predominant. This also leads to excessive growth of coarse shaft hairs, especially noticeable on the face.

Use of oral contraceptives

Any oral contraceptives contain one or two female sex hormones in small concentrations. The selection of this class of drugs should only be performed by an obstetrician-gynecologist, having previously studied the patient’s health status and test results. When self-medicating or using hormones on the advice of relatives or friends, the result can be disastrous - hormonal imbalances will occur. External manifestations of these disorders will include unwanted hair on the face and body.

Hereditary predisposition

The level of female and male hormones is a factor that is largely determined by heredity. Therefore, if ancestors on the female line had a high level of male hormones, androgens, and had a tendency to grow dark hair on the face, chin, arms, chest, it will most likely be present in the next generations. Examples include the appearance of Caucasian, Latin American and Mediterranean women.

Endocrine system diseases

Most often, hirsutism results from ovarian pathology. This could be inflammation, polycystic disease or tumor diseases. Pathologies of the adrenal glands are also common, which is accompanied by an increase in the concentration of male sex hormones. But in the human body everything is interconnected and diseases of the ovaries or adrenal glands may not be the root cause, but a consequence of the pathology of the organ above them - the pituitary gland. It is he who regulates the functioning of the endocrine glands.

Physical inactivity and obesity

Low physical activity and excess nutrition provoke the development of obesity. And this, in turn, disrupts the normal balance of sex (and not only) hormones.

Pregnancy

In this condition, women often experience increased hair growth above the upper lip, on the chin, around the areolas, and on the linea alba. This happens due to changes in the ratio of hormones in the body and goes away on its own after childbirth. It occurs more often when the fetus is male - it produces male hormones.

Stress, lack of sleep, chronic fatigue, anorexia

Capable of suppressing ovarian function up to amenorrhea (pathological absence of menstruation). This increases the amount of stress hormones in the body - cortisol, adrenaline and testosterone. The latter is largely responsible for hirsutism.

Improper care

Facial hair may be to blame for your facial skin care routine. Aggressive cosmetics, highly abrasive scrubs or the use of hormone-containing creams can cause local hairiness.

Epilation or shaving

With regular removal of even vellus hairs from the upper lip or chin, there is a tendency for them to become coarser, darker and thicker. Therefore, for smooth skin it is better to use laser or photoepilation.

What is the best way to get rid of peach fuzz?

Before you start using a razor, you need to know what works and what doesn't when it comes to minimizing facial hair. The fact that the hairs in this area are difficult to detect (as mentioned, they are shorter, softer and often lighter) means that they are equally difficult to remove.

Advice! Only choose deletion if it really pisses you off. It's also important to speak to a qualified skin care professional if possible, so they can suggest a solution that's right for you.

A few words about androgens

There are several types of androgens, the most famous of which is testosterone. In the male body, this hormone is involved in the formation of sperm and the development of male characteristics (a rough voice, body hair growth, etc.).

Testosterone is normally present in the female body, but in small quantities, and affects the menstrual cycle, libido and fertility (the ability to reproduce). Accordingly, an increase in the level of this hormone in women leads to male-type functional changes.

Other male sex hormones are androstenedione and dehydroepiandrosterone, which are subsequently converted into testosterone (see testosterone levels in women and men).

Trading

You all know what this is, right? Threading is the procedure for removing facial hair using threads. It is quite ancient and effective, but at the same time painful.

Threading is a method that has been used for centuries for women and men with facial hair. This is a very successful solution, but the skin may be very irritated after the procedure.

Epilation at home

Considering all of the above, we recommend sticking to hair removal with sugar or wax.

This method allows:

  • remove hairs from the roots;
  • significantly slow down hair growth;
  • make them thinner.

Waxing

To perform waxing, you will need special wax. You can purchase it in virtually any cosmetic store or beauty salon; the price of this product is relatively low.

Wax is sold in two types:

  • in tablets;
  • in plates.

Waxing can be done independently

To obtain wax of the required consistency, tablets or plates should be melted over a fire, and then, using a special stick supplied with the wax, applied to areas of skin with hairs.

After application, you need to wait a little until the wax hardens and remove it from the skin with your fingers - the hairs will be removed along with the wax.

Note. To reduce pain, wax should be applied to the skin in small, separate strokes. They also need to be torn off one by one. In order to prevent possible skin irritation after wax removal, lubricate it with cream - preferably nourishing and moisturizing, for example, baby cream.

As practice shows, after wax hair removal the growth does not appear for at least two weeks, or even a month.

Sugar is a great alternative to wax

Sugar hair removal is performed in similar ways:

  • pour sugar into a thick-bottomed bowl;
  • put on fire and melt the sugar;
  • apply it to the hairs with a thin stick;
  • wait until it hardens and remove with your fingers.

Both methods are quite simple, although somewhat painful. However, they also have one drawback. Repeated epilation can be carried out only if the length of the hairs is at least five millimeters.

Electrolysis

If your facial fuzz has a denser texture, electrolysis may be the best option for you—it's the only permanent hair removal method that works wonders on all skin types. If you haven't heard of this procedure before, it involves the use of a thin needle device that destroys hair follicles using an electrical current.

Traditional treatment

It should be understood that without traditional treatment, the symptoms of the disease will continue to appear. Traditional medicine makes sense in the idiopathic form of the pathology and as a method of hair removal after the main hormonal treatment.

  • Juice of unripe walnut. The green nut is cut into 2 parts and the juice is squeezed out, which will be quite a bit. Apply droplets of juice to the hair roots. After 3-4 applications, hair growth will slow down.
  • Fresh garlic. Fresh garlic paste is applied to the hair roots for 10 minutes. Regular use of such a mask also leads to slower hair growth.
  • Datura decoction. The crushed leaves and stems of the plant are poured with water (so that it covers them) and slowly simmered over low heat for 60 minutes. The resulting decoction is applied to the hair roots 2 times a week very carefully, since the plant is poisonous.

Hair removal creams

Creams can help you, but you need to proceed with caution because it can ruin your skin. Although this is a quick and painless solution, if used incorrectly it can lead to increased sensitivity and chronic dry skin. It's not very good.

If you still want to try this method, just make sure to choose a product that will suit sensitive skin and apply a gentle moisturizer afterward to soothe your skin.

For a while or forever?

You can remove unnecessary vegetation from sight using depilation. But in this case, only the visible part of the hair is removed, and the hair follicle remains intact. Therefore, shaving, plucking, as well as bioepilation (using sugar syrup, resin or wax) bring the desired, but, alas, short-term effect.

The second method - hair removal (enzyme, laser, photo and other varieties) - allows you to act on the entire hair. After such procedures, unwanted vegetation either stops growing altogether or becomes much softer and thinner.

What types of facial hair removal don't work?

  1. Laser. Yes, yes, this miracle remedy does not help if you have a fuzz on your face. This is because lasers look for dark hair, so it is best not to use them.
  2. Tweezing is one of the worst things you can do. This can stimulate blood flow to the follicles, resulting in thicker and stronger hair. Also, experts have more than once observed excessive hair ingrowth into the skin in people undergoing this procedure. Moreover, it is very painful, especially in the mucous membranes (hairs above the upper lip).

In any case, before conducting experiments on yourself, it is recommended to consult a specialist. Otherwise, you can make things even worse, which will only add to the problems.

How to remove unwanted fuzz on your face?

A way to get rid of unwanted facial hair

Many women have a pressing question: how to get rid of fuzz on their face for as long as possible? At the moment there are a huge number of different methods. This provides an excellent opportunity to choose the most suitable and less traumatic procedure for yourself.

Professional treatments

Laser hair removal is the most effective and efficient procedure. During the operation of the laser beam, not only large and serious damage occurs, but also further loss of hair follicles. However, after some time, the remaining bulbs wake up again and the first hairs appear on the face. In this case, the laser hair removal session is repeated. To finally solve this problem, you will need from 5 to 8 visits to a cosmetologist.

IPL – photoepilation – An ideal solution for natural fair-skinned blondes. The principle of operation is similar to the effect of a laser, but its result does not affect the percentage of melanin in the skin. During this procedure, under the influence of a light wave, hair follicles are quickly destroyed. The main advantages of this method are its versatility, because it can be used to treat various parts of the body, including the face. With the help of photoepilation, you can remove hair of any hardness and any shade.

Electrolysis - this method removes fuzz on the face using electric current. This procedure can be carried out both in a beauty salon and at home; for this you just need to purchase special equipment.

Folk remedies for facial hair removal

  • Hydrogen peroxide. This folk recipe will help you not only permanently remove annoying fuzz on your face, but will also make the remaining hairs almost invisible. To get excellent results, take a cotton swab soaked in 3% hydrogen peroxide and regularly treat all necessary areas. With regular use of this method, the hairs not only become thinner, but ultimately stop growing altogether.
  • An alcohol solution helps make hair invisible. However, the proportions must be strictly observed, as there is a risk of skin burns. 3 tablespoons of simple alcohol are mixed with a teaspoon of ammonia. Add 1 teaspoon of castor oil and a drop of iodine. Unwanted hairs are treated with the mixture several times a day.
  • Turmeric paste. 2 teaspoons of turmeric powder are diluted with regular cow's milk to a dense, homogeneous mass. Distribute the paste in a thick, even layer over problem areas and remove after 15-20 minutes. For very thick and coarse hairs, add a little rice flour to the mixture.
  • Milk paste with chickpeas. Several chickpea grains must be ground to a powder and mixed with milk until a thick mass is obtained. For thinned and dry dermis, a nourishing cream is added to the composition to relieve excessive irritation. The prepared mass is applied to the area of hair growth and after half an hour is removed with a hard sponge. The composition must be removed against hair growth.
  • Using lemon juice. There is a great way to get rid of frizz that is suitable for blondes with fair skin. If you have a tan on your face, it is better to avoid this procedure as it can leave light spots on the skin. To 2 large spoons of granulated sugar, add a couple of teaspoons of lemon juice and a quarter glass of water. The composition must be mixed thoroughly, avoiding complete dissolution of the sugar. The scrubbing composition is applied with gentle circular movements to the area of skin with vellus hair and left for 15 minutes. After the required time, the composition is removed against hair growth.
  • Walnuts. These nuts contain a rare substance that helps destroy hair follicles. It is recommended to use green, unripe fruits. Three or four nuts are peeled from the green layer and thoroughly dried, and then burned. The resulting nut ash is diluted with a teaspoon of clean water and the resulting paste is used to treat problem areas several times during the day. Be careful! Unpleasant brown spots may appear on the skin and remain for several days.

Procedures at home

  • Plucking. This method is also recommended by professional cosmetologists. But during the procedure, severe and inaccurate damage to the hair follicle occurs. At the same time, it will not be completely destroyed and over time the vellus hair will reappear. One of the main disadvantages is that after plucking, noticeable irritation and redness of the skin appears. In addition, this method is very traumatic and causes a lot of pain. With constant use of this method, the hair begins to become coarser, activating increased growth. Therefore, this method is considered optimal for removing single hairs.
  • Using wax, you can effectively get rid of frizz on your face. If the procedure is carried out correctly, the use of wax strips pleases with its simplicity and instant results. This method of removing facial hair has a number of features, so it is better to seek help from professionals. When using wax on your own, the strip must be warmed well in your palms, peel off the part with the wax layer and apply it to the problem area. After a certain time, the strip comes off against the direction of hair growth.
  • Shaving. Used when there is a need to quickly get rid of pronounced mustaches. The main disadvantage of this method is that the hair becomes more visible and coarse, and the ends split. This method does not have a long-lasting effect and can greatly irritate delicate women’s skin, causing rashes and redness.
  • Sugaring, or sugar hair removal. It is one of the most popular methods for eliminating unwanted fuzz on the face. Complete removal of hair follicles ensures that hair growth slows down, and those that grow back become thin, delicate and almost invisible.
  • Depilation using cream. For this procedure, you need to purchase a special cosmetic hair removal cream. The advantages of this method include the duration of the result. But the big disadvantage is the aggressive chemical composition, and also the fact that hair can be removed again only if the hair is thin enough.

Care after removing unwanted vegetation

  1. It is forbidden to sunbathe on the beach and stay in direct sunlight for 24 hours after removing the fluff.
  2. The first two days after the procedure, it is necessary to treat the face with a cotton swab moistened with chlorhexidine digluconate.
  3. It is prohibited to visit the gym, sauna, bathhouse and solarium during the day.
  4. On the first day you can take a shower, but without soap or shower gel. The use of aggressive masks and scrubs is recommended on the second day after hair removal.

Is it normal or normal to have coarse black hair on the chin?

Normally, a woman’s skin should be covered with small vellus hairs. Their color depends on the skin color of the owner, but they are often light and almost invisible.

Coarse black hair on the chin causes discomfort

In cases where vegetation appears in unusual places, we can talk about some kind of pathology, because nature has long determined the appearance of women

The phenomenon of black, coarse hair on the chin of the fair sex is called hirsutism.

Factors contributing to the development of hirsutism

  • Male pattern hair growth in women: growth of hard, pigmented shaft hair on the face (upper lip, chin), around the nipples, on the chest, back, abdomen, buttocks and inner thighs;
  • Increased oiliness of hair and skin;
  • Acceleration of hair loss on the head, especially in the forehead area;
  • Acne is an inflammatory change in the pilosebaceous structures of the skin;
  • Menstrual dysfunction in the form of irregular periods or their complete absence;
  • Infertility, inability to conceive a child for a long time.

With hirsutism against the background of hyperandrogenism, signs of virilization or masculine features subsequently appear:

  • increased libido;
  • increase in muscle mass, especially in the upper shoulder girdle;
  • redistribution of fat according to the male type (localized on the shoulders, arms, chest);
  • reduction of glandular tissue of the mammary glands;
  • deepening of the voice;
  • hair loss in the temple area;
  • attraction of the clitoris, reduction in the size of the labia, cessation of the production of vaginal lubrication.

There are various factors influencing the development of hirsutism. Hair growth on the chin in women can be caused by:

  1. Hormonal changes in the body associated with pregnancy and menopause. Such conditions can provoke increased production of male hormones, leading to the growth of coarse hairs not only in the lower part of the face, but also in other areas of the body.
  2. Gynecological diseases accompanied by hormonal imbalances (polycystic ovary syndrome, amenorrhea, chronic anovulation). These diseases often provoke the growth of black hair on the chin in women.
  3. Pathologies of organs responsible for the production of hormones (these include the thyroid gland, adrenal glands, pituitary gland). In such cases, increased hair growth is caused by improper production of important substances involved in the functioning of the entire body.
  4. The use of contraceptives containing estrogen and progesterone. If such drugs are taken uncontrolled, the likelihood of developing hormonal disorders in the form of facial hair growth, weight gain, etc. increases.
  5. Heredity, poor nutrition, and physical inactivity play an important role in why a woman has hair growing on her chin.
