How to remove redness on the face after acne

Hello! My name is Nadezhda, I am 23 years old. Not so long ago I first encountered such a problem as the appearance of a papule on my nose. All this happened on the eve of a very important event for me, so I was looking for ways to get rid of a red pimple quickly. At that time I did not have the opportunity to contact a cosmetologist, but I did not despair.

The Internet became my salvation, it was there that I found a huge number of different ways to eliminate this skin inflammation, and, of course, I used them. Now on my list of beauty secrets there are many recipes that I use myself and which I hasten to share with you.

The main reasons for the appearance of papules

For those who suffer from red pimples on the face, it doesn’t hurt to first find out what causes them to appear. And, as it turns out, there are not so few sources.

Among them:

  • disorders associated with the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract and cardiovascular system;
  • endocrine diseases that develop due to insufficient production, excessive secretion of hormones and improper functioning of the endocrine glands;
  • experienced stressful situations;
  • disruption of the sebaceous glands;
  • bad habits - smoking and alcohol abuse;
  • failure to comply with generally accepted hygiene rules;
  • a large amount of fatty, spicy and fried foods in the diet;
  • improper skin care.

Without identifying and eliminating the root cause of skin inflammation, it will be possible to get rid of it ad infinitum.

Formation of redheads

The exact causes of the disease have not yet been clarified . But most researchers identify the following reasons:

  • aggressive effects of microorganisms;
  • genetic factor;
  • disturbances in the gastrointestinal tract;
  • failure in the immune, endocrine, autonomic nervous system;
  • seborrhea;
  • infectious diseases;
  • features of the skin (if blood vessels are located close to the surface of the skin), its sensitivity;
  • cosmetics or facial skin care products containing alcohol;
  • the bacterium Helicobacter pylori (causes peptic ulcers, disrupts the dermal extracellular matrix, which forms the basis of connective tissue);
  • some medications, corticosteroid ointments.

Exacerbation of the disease can be facilitated by the consumption of alcohol, spices, smoked foods, foods high in caffeine, smoking, too low and high temperatures, household and technical aerosols in the air, exposure to ultraviolet radiation, and foci of chronic infection in the body.

Treatment of rosacea in many cases may not be effective enough due to the lack of a complete understanding of the mechanisms of development of the disease.

Demodex mite activity has always been considered the main cause of erythema. But now many researchers consider it only a provoking factor.

The disease often affects women 30-50 years old . One of the theories for the causes of its occurrence is that people with fair skin, blond and red hair, and blue eyes are more predisposed to rosacea.

Symptoms

If, after contact with cold or hot water, red spots appear on the face and do not disappear for a long time, rosacea can be suspected. Redness is localized on the forehead, nose, chin, and cheeks.

Such manifestations usually go unnoticed. They do not cause discomfort and are masked with cosmetics.

At the initial stage, rashes appear with persistent expansion of capillaries. The influx of blood contributes to a local increase in temperature, providing the opportunity for saprophytic microflora to multiply.

The next stage is characterized by the appearance of tubercles and irregularities of the skin, then they turn into ulcers. The skin is dense and rough to the touch, the seals are intense.

In the lupoid form of the disease, telangiectasia, local expansion of the capillary network, and spider veins appear. Rashes, brown-red papules and nodules merge, forming a bumpy surface.

Rosacea can appear during pregnancy, go away after childbirth and therapy, but appear during the next pregnancy.

In men, the disease is often complicated by rhinophyma, a benign change in the skin of the nose, in which the elements of the nose and sebaceous glands hypertrophy and enlarge. Sebum secretion increases, sebum can accumulate in the ducts and decompose, contributing to the appearance of an unpleasant odor.

If rosacea progresses , it affects the area around the eyes and eyelids, causing discomfort when blinking, pain, dryness, and a feeling of sand in the eyes. Late stages may be characterized by profuse lacrimation. Ocular rosacea is then diagnosed.

In particularly advanced cases, ocular rosacea may be complicated by rosacea keratitis. This is an inflammatory-infiltrative lesion of the cornea.

May be accompanied by corneal syndrome, mucopurulent conjunctivitis, the appearance of infiltrates and ulcers on the cornea. The disease leads to corneal opacities of varying intensity and loss of vision.

Rosacea is diagnosed by visual examination by a dermatologist . But due to the activation of demodex and possible relapses of demodicosis, treatment against the mite is prescribed, which can aggravate the patient’s condition, and the spread of red acne will progress further.

In the presence of pustules and vesicles with pus, bacteriological culture is performed.

Treatment with pharmaceutical drugs

While you are contacting a dermatologist to prescribe medication or looking for remedies on your own to help get rid of red pimples, do not sit idly by. Periodically wipe the inflamed areas of the skin with antiseptic lotion or aloe juice. If the pimple breaks out, you can treat it with an alcohol-containing product.

Today, in any pharmacy you can purchase medications specifically designed for the treatment of acne. As a rule, they are prescribed by a doctor for use at home. However, I, using recommendations from the Internet, and having read the instructions of various ointments, their composition, effects, contraindications, chose at my own discretion those that seemed to me the most optimal.

  1. Retinoic ointment. It is considered the most effective remedy in the treatment of all forms of acne, including red pimples, as well as scars and scars that remain on the skin after them. Besides what I liked about it and how it suited my dry and sensitive skin, retinoic ointment has the consistency of a cream, creates a light moisturizing effect and perfectly smooths out wrinkles. Contraindications to the use of the drug are common: pregnancy, lactation, individual intolerance.
  2. Zenerite. The ointment, which has an antibacterial effect, contains the antibiotic erythromycin (actively fights bacteria that cause acne), zinc acetate (reduces sebum production) and other components. Used to treat acne, red and other pimples, acne. Apply to pre-cleansed skin morning and evening. The course of treatment is 2 weeks or more, depending on the course of the disease. Contraindications: pregnancy, individual intolerance or allergic reaction to the drug.

How to get rid of redheads?

The main treatment is aimed at eliminating the predisposing and provoking factors of the disease. Classic treatment for red acne on the face includes antibiotics and external therapy.

Drug treatment

Metronidazole

Creams and ointments containing metronidazole are prescribed to patients with demodicosis. Despite the controversial role of demodex in the occurrence of the disease, such remedies for red acne are often prescribed .

But the drug for external use may not be effective for telangiectasia. The cream and gel are applied to cleansed skin in a thin layer twice a day for 2-3 months.

Metronidazole in tablet form also prescribed orally if there is no effect after topical application. Treatment lasts about two months. Nausea, headaches, dry mouth, vomiting, and urticaria are possible.

Also used for the treatment of red acne on the body and face are creams and gels based on metronidazole - Rozex, Metrogyl . Thanks to them, the number of pustules is reduced, and the surface of the epidermis is partially leveled.

Tetracycline

It is an antibiotic that has a strong bacteriostatic effect . Able to fight infectious diseases caused by sensitive pathogens.

The duration of treatment is up to 12 weeks. Take 3-4 times a day, gradually reducing the dose to twice a day.

Possible side effects:

  • liver and kidney damage;
  • pancreatitis;
  • pigmentation;
  • allergy;
  • dizziness.

Contraindications:

  • fungal diseases;
  • liver and kidney dysfunctions;
  • pregnancy, lactation;
  • children up to eight years of age.

It is used less frequently as an ointment . For the treatment of rosacea, it is prescribed only after a bacteriological examination of scrapings from the skin of the face.

If the presence of microorganisms is confirmed, and other drugs cannot cope with them, resort to tetracycline ointment. The duration of use is determined by the doctor.

Erythromycin

An antibiotic drug with a strong bacteriostatic effect is used in the form of an ointment of 2-4%. Therapy should not exceed two weeks to avoid the body becoming accustomed to the components.

The ointment is used to treat infectious skin diseases, soft tissue infections: bedsores, acne, serious burns, ulcers, ulcers, wound infections.

The drug is applied to the damaged area up to three times a day . Possible side effects: itching, burning, redness of the skin.

Isotretinoin

This synthetic retinoid is prescribed for severe rosacea and early stage rhinophyma.

It is able to normalize terminal cell differentiation, reduces the production of sebum, facilitates its secretion, normalizes the composition, reduces inflammation around the glands, and improves skin regeneration. The duration of treatment is up to six months.

The ointment may cause peeling and itching. The use of moisturizers is necessary.

Folk remedies against red acne

Having tried many folk remedies, I’ll tell you only about those that helped me that time when a red pimple appeared right on my nose before an important event, and which I still use.

  • Lotion based on aloe juice. A very effective remedy in case of red pimple. You need to cut off a few lower leaves from the aloe flower and put them in the refrigerator for 5-7 days, then chop them and squeeze the juice out of them. It is recommended to wipe your face with this lotion in the evening before going to bed.
  • Lemon mask. Cut the lemon into thin circles and apply it to the acne-affected areas of the face. Leave for no more than 10 minutes, as lemon juice tends to dry out the skin. More suitable for oily skin, but since the mask is effective, I also used it for my dry skin, albeit with caution.
  • Honey mask. Honey is taken, melted to a liquid consistency and applied to the face while warm. The procedure should take no more than 15 minutes. Then wash off the mask with warm water and apply a soft towel to your face.
  • Charcoal mask. Grind two tablets of activated carbon, add 1 tbsp. starch, the same amount of white clay and a small amount of purified water. Bring to a paste consistency and apply to problem areas. Rinse off with warm water.

In order to achieve a positive result and get rid of red pimples, unlike medications, you should use folk remedies regularly.

Removing redness around red pimples

You can relieve inflammation and redness of the skin around acne using fairly simple methods, using:

  • aspirin tablets, which should be crushed to a powder and diluted with water;
  • toothpaste, which is applied to the problem area and washed off with cold water after 10-15 minutes; This procedure is recommended to be carried out once every three days;
  • ice cubes from a decoction of medicinal herbs - sage or chamomile, which are used to wipe problem areas several times a day.
