To cover up dark circles under your eyes, you don't have to go looking for concealer.
You can try to get by with just foundation.
What is the difference between concealer and foundation?
The main differences between these two products are the degree of pigmentation and texture.
The concealer contains more tonal pigments, and its texture is much denser.
This allows it to well mask even problem areas such as dark circles under the eyes.
That is, the concealer was created to address problems.
Foundation, on the contrary, is needed to correct the skin tone as a whole: it is distributed over the entire face, expecting that it will “merge” with the skin and will not be noticeable from the outside. A detailed dossier on the topic can be found in this article.

Concealer, what to eat it with
Hi all! You are familiar with this situation - you look at yourself in the mirror, and there again they show a horror film. Not only are the circles under the eyes and a pigment spot on the cheek spoiling the impression, but a pimple has also appeared on the chin. You come to the store for concealment products, you stand at the shelves packed to the top, but you don’t know what and for what. So I’m tired of “sweating” about this. I decided to make a little cheat sheet for myself. Concealers currently come in 3 types: liquid, creamy and in the form of a concealing pencil. Now about each separately. Concealing pencil
Available in the form of pencils and lipsticks.
Most convenient to use, because no additional devices in the form of brushes are needed. It is not recommended to apply to the skin of the eyelids, because... very thick consistency, difficult to shade, “hides” in wrinkles, emphasizing them even more. An indispensable thing for masking age spots, acne, scars, vascular network, birthmarks. Usually applied before foundation. Creamy concealers
are very delicate, have a thick, oily, mousse-like texture, blend well without clogging into creases.
The density is slightly lower than that of a concealer pencil. Perfect for large camouflage areas. Perfectly masks red veins, circles under the eyes, rough skin. Liquid concealers
Usually sold in the form of a “felt-tip pen” or in a tube with a brush/sponge. It applies very softly and blends easily without stretching the skin. They have a very weak degree of camouflage. Suitable for masking light blue under the eyes, lightening/evening out the tone. Apply after foundation. We've sorted out the consistency, let's move on to color:
Green
- to disguise redness, pimples, blood vessels, bruises, too bright blush
Yellow
- to disguise scars, age spots, purple circles under the eyes, bruises
Violet
- to disguise blue circles under the eyes, age spots, yellow bruises
Pink
- brightens the skin , masking circles under the eyes
White
- to highlight individual areas/highlighter, apply UNDER the foundation, highlighting pigment spots and freckles. Perhaps this is also worth adding: Green neutralizes red; purple-yellow; pink-gray, yellow; orange-blue. Now we are fully armed and can hide what strangers do not need to see. Stay always beautiful.

Can foundation be used as a concealer?
The editors of Makeup.ru asked this question to the leading makeup artists of our country. Below are their answers and life hacks.
To use foundation as a corrector, it must be dense, long-lasting and elastic, not liquid.
Choose a shade closer to peach to disguise dark circles under the eyes, while a shade with a slight olive undertone will better hide redness. For example, I apply a thin layer of Maybelline Superstay 24 foundation to my entire face with a brush, and then add it to problem areas with a fingertip or a smaller brush.
If you only have foundation on hand, it is enough to create the perfect complexion.
Apply it all over your face and around the eyes. I recommend adding a little moisturizer or liquid highlighter on top. It will lighten the area around the eyes a little and give the image freshness due to reflective particles.
Is there only foundation? Great! Feel free to use it around the eyes. But remember that the product should be applied to this area using patting movements with your fingers, otherwise there is a chance that it will get clogged into the folds of the eyelid.
How to choose the right color
The color palette of concealers is wide, so before choosing a particular tone of such a product, it is important to determine which skin defects will need to be hidden with its help. The correct choice of the appropriate shade will hide all existing imperfections, and vice versa, the wrong color of this composition will only emphasize the imperfections of the skin, focusing the attention of others on them.
- Yellow shades of products are best chosen to disguise dark circles in the eye area with a violet tint to the skin surface, which usually arise due to constant lack of sleep or physical fatigue. They allow you to even out the color of the epidermis, making it uniform.
- Orange tones are ideal for hiding hematomas (bruises), the color of which is greenish-blue, as well as veins protruding under the skin surface. Such tones blend perfectly with dark skin, helping it acquire a warmer, more even and most natural shade.
- Green concealer colors can effectively hide most visible imperfections of the epidermis. In addition, they have a powerful anti-inflammatory effect, due to which they are successfully used to mask the network of blood vessels, hyperemia, and acne. On top of this product, it is necessary to apply a layer of foundation, which gives the skin an even and beautiful shade, close to natural.
- Pink, delicate tones provide the skin with a fresh and youthful appearance, so they are preferred by mature ladies with a fading type of epidermis that is losing its healthy color. Women with dark skin, especially highly pigmented in the area around the eyes, are advised to use this particular color of concealer, which refreshes, brightens the face and makes its tone as uniform as possible.
- Blue shades perfectly hide freckles, age spots, dark circles around the eyes, and all kinds of redness of the epidermis. In the summer, this concealer should be in every woman's purse, as it flawlessly covers up sunburn.
- The violet range of products is suitable for anyone whose skin has a yellowish tint. This tone of concealer eliminates minor cosmetic defects, making the face attractive and rested.
Stylists who professionally deal with makeup advise taking such factors into account when choosing this product.
- A natural lighting background (daylight) will help you ideally choose the shade that suits your skin, showing all its advantages and disadvantages.
- The correct area of application of concealer plays an important role in choosing the ideal shade, since the skin color on the hands and face differs significantly. Test the product you like only on your face or problem areas to adequately assess its effectiveness.
- Consider the compatibility of the compositions of your concealer and foundation to achieve high-quality, even coverage without pilling or folding of layers. It is preferable to choose products from the same cosmetic series or brand.
For correct use, please note that:
- Concealer is always applied after foundation, when the complexion has already been slightly evened out, to areas or areas where defects remain noticeable. Do not apply concealer to the entire surface of your face;
- use a thin layer with a minimum amount of product, since a too densely applied composition will not only not hide, but rather highlight all existing imperfections;
- Don’t forget to shade it, gently pressing the layer into the skin with your fingertips or a special brush. When applying, pay special attention to the area around the eyes, starting from the inner corners to the outer ones;
- give the product time to dry completely and only then start powdering your face.
What is concealer?
This product is often confused with foundation due to their external properties. Concealer is a thick cream of various shades of beige, ranging from almost transparent to dark, almost brown colors. It is designed to disguise skin imperfections, such as dark circles under the eyes, age spots, rosacea, acne and even wrinkles.
Concealers often contain reflective particles that can replace highlighter, giving the skin a healthy, soft glow and highlighting the desired areas. This helps hide wrinkles and is also a good help in sculpting the face. In addition, in such a product you can often find vitamins and minerals that can get rid of rashes and improve skin tone - so this product not only makes you look beautiful, it is also good for the skin.
There are three types of concealers, differing in consistency and areas of application. Let's talk in more detail about each of them:
- Liquid concealer. This product is usually sold in the form of a palette; it is slightly thicker than the average foundation. It is very light and weightless, so it can only disguise dark circles under the eyes or redness on the skin: it cannot cope with acne, clogged pores and other major imperfections.
- Concealer in the form of a stick or pencil. Quite dense, intended for spot application in a thin layer, almost impossible to shade. It hides acne, scars, wrinkles, and age spots well, but is not at all suitable for the skin around the eyes. Apply in a spiral and very carefully.
- Mineral concealer. This product is available in dry form and resembles powder. In addition to correcting skin imperfections, it helps with mattification and has an antibacterial effect, so it is an ideal option for those with oily and problematic skin. Not used on the area around the eyes or to cover wrinkles.
In order for your makeup to look natural and natural, you need to know how to use concealer correctly.
The most important rule when applying concealer: do it in a well-lit room, otherwise you risk turning your face into a striped-spotted horror. You need to be very careful about whether the product is well shaded and how it “sits” on the skin - daylight or properly installed bright lamps are ideal for these purposes.
Concealer should not be applied to dry skin that is not covered with foundation or at least not moisturized - the product simply will not blend in such conditions and will remain lumpy in one area! Moreover, it is also applied in a special way - only with a damp brush or sponge, never dry. Of course, this method does not apply to sticks and pencils; when using them, you should take care of the level of hydration of your skin in advance.
The area around the eyes is treated exclusively with liquid concealer. Using thick products for this purpose will only highlight wrinkles and dark circles more, because it will not be possible to blend it properly. But pimples are covered with pencils and sticks: be careful when using them, do not smear them with a thick layer on top of the inflammation. This product is applied around the blackhead in a spiral, slowly approaching the center and leaving no sharp boundaries.

The T-zone and center of the chin are covered with concealer a shade or two lighter than the shade of foundation, while the contour of the nose and cheekbones is emphasized with a shade darker. A light concealer is applied under the eyebrow and on the corners of the eyelids, giving expressiveness to the eyes. The boundaries of the oval of the face are worked out using a tone-on-tone product with the natural color of the skin of the face and neck, so as not to create the effect of a “rubber mask”.
After you finish applying the concealer, wait for it to dry completely. If afterward you notice that the application boundaries are still visible, apply dense powder or a thin layer of foundation on top.
And finally, the most important question: what should you apply to your skin first, foundation or concealer? The answer is clear: foundation is used first.
After you cleanse and moisturize your skin, and then apply a makeup base, the evening out of your complexion begins. However, if you have severe redness or inflammation on your skin, before applying foundation, BB or CC cream, it is important not to miss one more point: dot application of a corrector of a suitable color, which will help make your complexion uniform.
Important! Concealer and corrector are completely different cosmetic products, and they are also applied in completely different ways. While concealer is used before foundation to camouflage uneven skin tone, concealer is used after you've evened out your complexion. Don't confuse them, it can ruin your entire makeup!
And only after you have applied foundation to your skin should you use concealer. It is used both to hide imperfections and to sculpt the face, and in both cases this product has proven itself to be excellent. Concealer is applied from the edges of the area that needs improvement and smoothly moves to the center.
Use foundation and concealer correctly and your makeup will look amazing!
In order for the effect of the concealer to be noticeable, you need to follow the rules for applying it!
- Cleanse your skin with toner and wait until it dries.
- Moisten the skin slightly (with a wide makeup brush or a spray bottle)
Since concealer does not apply well to dry skin, it needs to be moistened to make retouching easier.
It would be wrong to apply concealer with cold hands or on a cold face. The concealer does not come into contact with a cold surface and will come out in clumps.
Girls with oily skin should apply concealer not with their hands, but with a brush.
There is no need to apply concealer before foundation or powder. Due to their consistency, their interaction will be good if foundation is applied first and then concealer.
Each flaw is retouched on the sides; concealer is not applied to the flaw itself. This is done so that the retouched area does not look like a dark spot on the face, different from the entire complexion. To do this you need to use a brush.
In order not to clog wrinkles with concealer, it is better to apply day eye cream underneath it; it has less fat content.
You cannot replace concealer with foundation!
And you need to be careful not to confuse concealer with eye corrector. The difference between them is that the corrector completely masks the imperfection, and the concealer only changes the color at the location of the imperfection, making the makeup lighter and more natural.
How to make concealer from foundation?
We have already found out that foundation can be used instead of concealer. Now let's figure out exactly how to do this.
Moisturize your skin with cream and distribute the foundation over your entire face, blending it from the center to the periphery. Also apply cream to the area under the eyes first to moisturize and smooth the skin, then apply a light layer of tone.
Take a thick foundation one tone lighter than your skin and apply it evenly to the area under the eyes. It is better to blend the product with your fingertips: this way it warms up and becomes more elastic. Movements should be driven in, not stretched, so as not to damage the skin and cause premature wrinkles.

What nuances should you consider if you use concealer instead of foundation?

Using concealer instead of foundation all over your face is not only not very economical (after all, sometimes a small bottle of concealer costs more than foundation), but it is also harmful to the skin. Concealer typically has a thicker texture and can clog pores.
But in special cases, when you don’t have foundation on hand, you can achieve the ideal skin tone using concealer in several ways:
- Use concealer precisely on problem areas. Apply it with tapping movements to the areas that need to be corrected. Leave the product on the skin for a couple of minutes without blending. The concealer will be absorbed into the skin, and you will only need to slightly shade the edges. Unlike shading, this method of application does not emphasize peeling and skin texture. It is also important that the shade of the concealer matches your skin color exactly.
- Mix concealer with moisturizer for a smoother texture. This product can be applied to the entire face without fear of getting a mask effect.
- If you have no other option but to apply concealer instead of foundation, use a damp brush. This will allow the product to be distributed as evenly as possible.

Traces of fatigue, stress, constant deadlines and sleepless nights are first imprinted on the face, or rather, they appear in the form of dark circles under the eyes. You can hide them in several ways: wear sunglasses, get enough sleep, go on vacation, or use cosmetics. But if you choose the last option, then there is a risk of not removing them, but emphasizing them. Independent makeup artist Olesya Popova told us what mistakes we can make when covering up dark circles and how to avoid it.
Facial concealer. A small helper for a big effect.
A flawless skin tone is the basis for perfect makeup. But what if your skin is far from perfect? Pigment spots, dark circles under the eyes, redness and rashes cannot be disguised with regular tone or powder. In this case, it is useful to have a facial concealer (camouflage pencil) and a palette with color correctors in your cosmetic bag. Both products are designed to disguise skin defects, but the principle of their use is somewhat different. The corrector corrects skin tone due to the visual effect of color neutralization. The green shade is intended to disguise redness, the yellow shade hides the blue tone. Facial concealer has a thicker consistency, so it masks obvious skin imperfections much better than foundation. As a rule, the shade of the concealer is matched to the color of the powder or foundation, or a little lighter.
The main cosmetic problem for most women, regardless of age, is dark circles under the eyes. They give the face a tired and haggard appearance. If this had happened several hundred years ago, such a lady would have been considered beautiful. After all, there were times when pallor and shadows under the eyes were considered a sign of special spirituality. The young ladies drank vinegar, hid from the sun and painted blue veins on their skin. But today the ideals of female attractiveness have changed. Healthy, radiant, youthful skin with an even glow is in fashion. Bags under the eyes do not fit into modern canons in any way. Therefore, ladies prefer to disguise this small defect with cosmetics. But in order to achieve the desired effect and make your face more attractive, rested and fresh, it is important to know how to use cosmetics correctly.
In the eye area you need to use concealers specifically designed for this purpose. The shade of the camouflage pencil is selected depending on the skin tone. If you don't want to look like a panda, avoid too light shades. Even if you are used to using a very light tone with a pinkish tint, it is better to choose a peach-colored concealer.
You can use concealer not only for camouflage, but also as a base for eye shadow so that your makeup stays on better.
Apply concealer under the eyes with extreme caution, especially if you have fine lines and crow's feet. A layer of concealer that is too thick is not suitable for this part of the face. All excess will collect in skin folds, only aggravating the problem.
There is no need to smear the concealer, as this will stretch the delicate skin around the eyes. Better to gently tap it in with your fingertips and blot off the excess.
Many makeup artists advise using eye cream before applying concealer so as not to dry out the skin. But this issue is best resolved individually. Believe me, nothing bad will happen if you don't do this. It is much worse if several layers of “plaster” applied according to all the rules begin to slide off the face at the most inopportune moment.
Regular foundation is completely unsuitable for concealing dark circles and bags under the eyes, but face concealer can be replaced with eye cream with a tonal effect. Many cosmetic companies produce similar products today. Pay attention to products from Garnier, Olay or Nivea. Of course, such a product will not hide serious problems, but it will hide light shadows under the eyes or redness quite successfully.
A pimple that suddenly appears on the face is, of course, not a universal tragedy, but before a business meeting or a romantic date, such an adornment on the face is completely inappropriate. But even here a little helper from a cosmetic bag comes to the rescue. A special anti-acne concealer containing salicylic acid will not only disguise but also dry out the rash. But in order to mask the redness, before applying concealer, cover the pimple with a very thin layer of greenish-tinged corrector.
Freckles or age spots can be camouflaged with a dry, dense concealer applied under foundation or powder. Here we can recommend a concealer from Oriflame containing minerals. Please note that this product is only used to cover problem areas, not the entire face.
Today, manufacturers offer a huge selection of a wide variety of concealers. How to sort through these tubes and jars and choose among them what is really necessary?
Of course, you need to choose a concealer for your face depending on your skin type and in full accordance with the tasks for which it is intended. There are means, so to speak, narrowly targeted. For example, a concealer to disguise pimples and rashes. For example, a product from Avon contains antibacterial additives such as tea tree oil and salicylic acid.
Concealer for the area around the eyes has a light, airy structure and additionally cares for the skin of the eyelids. There are also universal products that can be used to hide age spots, freckles, and spider veins. They have a denser texture. Such products are usually produced in the form of a stick or tube with an applicator (for example, Giordani Gold from Oriflame).
Concealing pencils are available in any cosmetic line, from the French “Yves Saint Laurent” to the Russian “Art - Make-up”. An expensive product does not mean the best, the main thing is that the concealer is right for you.

Mistake #1: Ignoring the step of preparing the skin under the eyes for applying concealer
If you skip this step, the makeup will lie unevenly, sloppily, the concealer may roll off and be of no use. Plus it will accentuate wrinkles and maybe even intensify dark circles.
Solution: The skin needs to be moisturized. This is probably the most important thing, otherwise failure. For example, apply your daily eye cream a few minutes before your concealer, allowing it to absorb. If the situation under the eyes is more dire, then you need to act in several stages: before applying the cream around the eyes, use patches, and then take a colored makeup base with reflective particles, which, as a rule, works as a powerful moisturizer. This technique has a good visual cosmetic effect.
What is concealer?
Concealer is a highly pigmented product for spot application.
It is designed to hide redness, small pimples and bruises .
Concealer is applied mainly under the eyes.
Almost every cosmetic brand produces concealers. In the mass segment you can find inexpensive concealers from L'Oreal and Maybelline ; among luxury cosmetics, concealers from Bobby Brown, Yves Saint Laurent and Shiseido .
How it works?
Concealer will not be superfluous in any woman’s cosmetic bag, since everyone has dark circles or inflammation under the eyes sooner or later.
But for those for whom bruises or pimples are a chronic problem, concealer is a must. A thick concealer can hide noticeable skin imperfections.
The key component of concealer is a special pigment that is designed to “cover up” unwanted color spots on the face.
Concealer often contains reflective particles , which also hide imperfections and give the skin an exquisite glow.
We choose and use wisely
Concealer is applied to the skin under the eyes using a special technique: draw and shade an inverted triangle. Concealers are usually produced in three forms:
- stick;
- pencil;
- liquid concealer.
Depending on skin type and personal preferences, as well as on the imperfections that need to be disguised, each woman chooses her own type of concealer.
It is much more important to choose the right pigment .
Please note that concealer with yellow pigment works well with bruises, while green pigment hides reddish spider veins.
How to make foundation lighter. How to make foundation lighter?
Making your foundation a little lighter at home is not that difficult. For example, here you can use commonly used tint products. They don't have to be from the same brand or have the same texture. If you do everything carefully, you can get a foundation not only of a different shade, but also of a different texture.
- You need to take a flat plastic container. It's good if there is a palette in the house. She will fit best.
- First you need to make a small portion of the product. Just a little bit of tone is taken that needs to be changed.
- The lightest product in stock is added.
- Now, using a toothpick, mix these two substances until smooth.
- The resulting cream should be tested by applying it to your wrist. If you want to make the cream even lighter, you need to add a light product little by little until the desired result is achieved.
Sometimes you need to make your foundation not only lighter, but also of a lighter texture. Then you can dilute it with a moisturizer. If you mix the tone with the day cream one to one, and then mix them well, you will get a new light product.
The above describes an option that allows you to lighten a liquid foundation. How can you make a foundation with a dense texture lighter?
If you need to change the shade of a paste or stick, you need to cut off a small piece and then crush it. Add the light product to the resulting mass. A glass or plastic spatula will come in handy here. Then you need to thoroughly grind everything until you get a homogeneous cream.
It is impossible to prepare such a mixture for future use. You can make a tone for one-time application. Then you can use a lighter powder to finally even out the color.
Making one from the other
How to make concealer from foundation? And can you use foundation instead of concealer?
If there is an urgent need to hide skin imperfections that foundation cannot cope with, you can prepare your own concealer.
To do this, you need to take a foundation slightly lighter than the one you use on your face, or add a little light powder , preferably with reflective particles.
Mix all this thoroughly and hold it in the air for a while to allow the cream to oxidize slightly - then the pigment will appear brighter .
After this, homemade concealer should be applied pointwise to problem areas on top of foundation.
Remember that this is an emergency option, and it is better to still keep a factory-made concealer in your cosmetic bag.
How to make foundation thicker. How to lighten foundation?
Who hasn't made a mistake with the shade when buying foundation? It turns out that the mistake can be corrected if you know how to highlight the product. We share techniques that will help you with this.
- How to make foundation one shade lighter?
- How to make a dark foundation much lighter?
- How to lighten foundation without light foundation?
- How to make foundation lighter already on your face?
It is no coincidence that when choosing a foundation, it is recommended to test the product on the face (along the border of the lower jaw and neck). The fact is that the skin on the hands is usually a tone or two darker than on the face - which is why the “wrist test” gives false results.
If it turns out that you made a mistake with the shade of foundation, you still have a chance to use it up completely - but you will have to learn how to lighten it.
What to apply first?
Is concealer applied before or after foundation? First the cream, and only then the concealer! Many people have been familiar with the technique of applying foundation for a long time.
But concealer is a relatively new cosmetic product on the Russian market, and not everyone knows how to use it.
Very often, when women buy concealer for the first time, they fail and throw this cosmetic product into the far corner. And all because they use it incorrectly !
Here are a few conditions to follow when applying concealer:
- Warm hands . Concealer does not interact well with cold surfaces and can simply form clumps without giving the desired effect.
- Moisturized skin . Before applying concealer, just lightly moisten your skin with water.
- The right shade . The color of the pigment has already been mentioned above. When choosing a concealer, you need to remember that it should be lighter than your foundation, but not contrast with it too much.
- And the most important rule: concealer is applied to the skin after foundation! Otherwise, it simply won’t have any effect!
How to make foundation liquid. How to apply liquid foundation (step by step instructions)
Liquid foundation can transform you, or it can only bring you frustration, it’s true. And the point here is not only in the quality of the product, but also in the ability to use it. Our instructions will help you discover the real benefits of liquid foundation. 1. You need a good wide brush to apply liquid foundation. Round (or oval) at the base. The edge of the brush is flat or with a slight arc. Different brands have their own markings for brush sizes, so be guided visually. The width of the base of the brush (from where the bristles “grow”) should be approximately 15-20 mm, brushes for artists are marked this way - by the width of the base, that is, if you buy it in a store for artists, the brush will be numbered 15, 16, 17 etc. 2. It’s better to work like this: pour a small amount of product onto the back of your hand and dip the brush. You can also use a palette - plastic or glass. 3. Let's start with the nose. We simply make a stroke on the nose, then on the cheeks (towards the center), and also on the chin (two strokes towards the conditional line dividing the face into two parts). 4. Using the amount of product left on the brush, apply strokes around the lips. Avoid the nasolabial fold for now. 5. This step is for those who are used to using foundation rather than concealer in the eye area. You need to take a little tone on the outer edge of the brush, put dots under the eyes (not on the lower eyelid, but where there are usually dark circles under the eyes). Make strokes towards the inner corners of the eyes. Apply the liquid foundation to the upper eyelid, including the eyebrows. 6. Forehead. You should have about 1/3 left of the amount of makeup you took for makeup. Take the liquid foundation back onto the brush. You need to cover your forehead, pay special attention to the hairline, it is often forgotten (like the chin), and because of this, the makeup looks like a mask. In this instruction, we are considering makeup when almost the entire face is covered with foundation, with the exception of the nasolabial folds, so you need to cover the entire forehead and hairline. Carefully. But, by the way, it should be said that some make-up artists now practice such make-up when only problem areas of the face, where one’s own skin tone is not even, are covered with a foundation. This method can also be followed, but the selection of the foundation shade must be perfect. 7. Chin. Take the remaining product on the brush, make strokes under the chin (upwards to connect with the tone placed on the chin) and from the face downwards, the tone transition line will be invisible. Apply lightly where the ears connect to the face as well, so that there are no “white” spots. 8. Whole face. Now you need to blend the entire face, removing excess product, distributing the tone evenly. Make light dotted strokes. At the same time, the nasolabial folds will be covered with a minimal amount of product, which will eliminate unpleasant folds and accumulation of foundation in them. 9. When there is no product left on the brush, you should once again go over your face with the same almost dry brush, in a circular motion. This will allow the product to best connect with the skin and accept its structure. Work quickly until the base begins to become more viscous (usually within 2-3 minutes). 10. You can start with makeup using only creamy textures, such as blush and liner. 11. The decisive step. Don't forget about him. After 3-5 minutes of applying the liquid foundation, take a cloth and pat your entire face, avoiding your nose if you have large pores. Pay attention to the eyelids and corners of the eyes, there may be excess product that has collected in the folds. Once again, turn to the nasolabial folds, there you can go over the brush again, blending out the accumulation of tone. 12. Now it's time for the powder. Apply with a brush, as if pushing it into the skin, but with light movements. 13. Start applying makeup with powder textures - blush, bronzer. Apply, blending well. Did you find this instruction difficult? Don't rush to conclusions. Everything will take you no more than 5 minutes, and during this time you will see smooth, even and porcelain skin reflected in the mirror. One last tip: always use a clean brush. Wash every 3-4 days. Wipe with a cloth after each use. Try dampening the brush a little with water before applying if you find it difficult to get a good distribution of the product at first, this will help the brush glide over your skin better and apply the foundation evenly.
The difference between concealer and corrector is as follows:
- The corrector has a fairly dense, thick texture, while the concealer is much lighter, more delicate and liquid.
- The corrector is applied to the face only pointwise; the concealer can be used to treat local areas and zones where it is required.
- The corrector has a drying effect, while the concealer is able to moisturize the skin.
- The corrector is applied to individual pimples, redness, and inflammation. The concealer brightens areas with freckles, age spots, areas under and above the eyes.
- Correctors are usually available in a wide range of colors. Concealers are available in nude, natural shades.
- The corrector is applied before the foundation, the concealer is applied after.
Gone are the days when you had to apply a thick layer of powder or other makeup products to your face to disguise skin imperfections. You can no longer turn your face into a motionless, tinted mask, trying to hide pimples, spider veins or dark circles under the eyes. Now women have more advanced secret means to disguise skin imperfections - concealer and corrector.
How to make concealer lighter. Why do you need concealer?
Many people are still convinced that concealer can only cover up “bruises” and dark circles under the eyes.
The tool copes with this task “excellently”, but in fact the “front of work” is much wider. Concealer will help hide age spots and redness of the skin, smooth out wrinkles and enlarged pores, even out the surface of the face and tint small spider veins.
How is concealer different from corrector?
Concealers are often confused with correctors, and many are still convinced that they are the same thing. These products, indeed, sometimes turn out to be interchangeable, because the corrector also belongs to the category of products for masking skin imperfections. However, there are several significant differences between them.
- The concealer has a light translucent texture and blends seamlessly with any other foundation; it can be applied to larger areas of the face - for example, the T-zone.
- As a rule, the corrector has a denser and thicker texture, and it should be used spot-on to correct more serious imperfections: pimples, acne marks.
Concealers, like foundations, come in all shades of nude, but the corrector can be colored - green, yellow and even purple (it all depends on what specific imperfections it is intended to correct).
- The corrector dries out the skin, and the concealer moisturizes.
- Concealer is applied after (or instead of) foundation, and corrector, on the contrary, before.
- Which concealer should you choose? Test
However, confusion sometimes arises from the beauty brands themselves. Don’t be surprised if you see the word “concealer” on the packaging of a green or yellow product, and the instructions for the concealer advise applying it all over the face. There is only one way to check whether a particular product is suitable for solving your problems: simply test it on your skin, without paying attention to the label.

How to use concealer under the eyes? 4 tips
As we have already found out, most often a concealer is needed precisely to solve problems that arise in the area around the eyes.
The skin in these areas is thinner, so pigment spots and superficial veins appear more actively here, which overall creates that same “tired look.” How to use eye concealer? To get the perfect result, remember these tips.
- The skin under the eyes tends to be drier, so to prevent concealer from getting into fine lines, use eye cream before applying it and let it absorb properly, blot off any excess with a tissue. Choose one that has light-reflecting pigments to further brighten the desired area. It would be nice if this cream also contains vitamin K, which is responsible for the lightening effect.
To prevent the product from getting into the fine wrinkles under the eyes, you can use one more trick: before applying, mix it with the primer or light serum that you usually use.
Avoid applying concealer over oil-based products; it will last much longer this way. You can also lightly powder the area under your eyes in advance, preferably with colorless transparent powder.

The right solution is to apply foundation first and then concealer. This order is determined by their consistency. If both products are applied correctly, they will have a positive effect on the skin of the face.
To achieve an effective result, it is important to apply it correctly. Basic conditions to be observed.
- Heat. To apply it, your hands must be warm. It does not interact well with cool surfaces, not being distributed evenly, but forming lumps in wrinkles and irregularities.
- Humidity. The product does not apply well to dry skin. To make problem areas easier to mask, moisten your face with water.
- Hue. When choosing a color, it is necessary to take into account that its tone is lighter than the foundation, but not too different.
- It should be applied only after foundation. Otherwise, there will be no effect from its use.
There are times when you are late for an important meeting, exam or work. Then you don’t have time to put on your makeup correctly. What is better to use at this moment?
The answer is concealer. It will refresh the skin, brighten it, and remove traces of awakening. You will look as if you just washed your face with cool water. But there is no need to abuse this, because they give the ideal result in combination with each other.
What to do if you run out of concealer and your foundation doesn’t solve the problem? In this case, you can make your own life-saving remedy. You need to use a slightly lighter foundation than you usually use.
If there is no such shade, then you need to add a little light powder to the cream. It would be ideal if it contains reflective particles. Mix the resulting mass and leave it in the air. During this time, the cream will oxidize and the pigment will appear brighter.
Concealer can be applied to the problem area.
