The largest share of the injection cosmetology market is held by products made on the basis of hyaluronic acid, collagen, vitamins and other active substances: fillers, biorevitalizants, bioreparants and meso-cocktails. The segment began to develop in Russia later than the botulinum toxin niche, but has already outgrown its predecessors in terms of sales volumes, having surpassed the $100 million mark. It is noteworthy that it is in this segment that significant results of import substitution have been added to the variety of foreign brands - almost every type of product has a Russian analogue.
According to a survey of distributors conducted by VM, about 100 products based on hyaluronic acid (fillers and biorevitalizants), one filler based on collagen, as well as more than 60 meso-cocktails and other products for mesotherapy are now presented in Russia (see tables “Against the grain”, ≪ Contour cartridges≫). Each category has its own characteristics, depending on the geographical origin of the products. For example, in the sector of hyaluronic acid products, brands from Italy are widely represented - they occupy about 23% of the total number of discovered VM fillers and biorevitalizants. In second place is France with a share of 20%. The top three is completed by products from domestic companies, represented on the market by 13 brands from NovoNexus, Martinex, NMTC International and KTGroup (more than 13% of category offerings). Moreover, the only filler based on collagen fiber of animal origin, Collost, which is widely sold on the domestic market, is also produced by the Russian enterprise Biopharmholding.
In the sector of mesotherapy products, the position of domestic manufacturers is still more modest. A third of all brands in this category come from Spain, almost 14% from Germany. We also have a wide range of meso cocktails from South Korea and Argentina. Nevertheless, domestic brands of products based on active substances are being developed by three players at once - the companies KTGroup, NovoNexus and Martinex.
Over the past 15 years, Russian manufacturers have been quick to grasp the trends of the rapidly growing cosmetology market and began to produce more affordable products almost simultaneously with the entry of Western brands into the market, and sometimes even ahead of them. Import substitution activists were, as a rule, distributors of foreign cosmetic products aware of the latest global trends.

The action of HAfiller fillers and biorevitalizants is based on the ability of hyaluronic acid to maintain the ideal level of moisture in the skin and adjacent tissues, as well as their elasticity and required volume. During the procedure, the drug is injected under the skin directly in the problem area. The gel holds its given shape, and the active substance attracts water molecules, “feeding” the gel for a long time and preventing it from changing shape. Stage 2 of MCL Technology uses a unique cross-linking agent, divinyl sulfone, to “ball” the previously cross-linked hyaluronic acid.
