Lip modeling - what does it give?

Patients often turn to a cosmetologist with a request to enlarge their lips. But during the consultation it turns out that they are not satisfied not only with the volume, but also with the shape. Therefore, the correct definition of this procedure is lip modeling. The main goal of modeling is not to increase the volume of the lips, but to change their appearance, including “pumping”.

This service is required:

  • If, due to anatomical predispositions, the lips are too narrow or asymmetrical. This applies to both the asymmetry between the right and left sides, and between the upper and lower lip. But you need to understand that if the lower lip is slightly larger than the upper, this does not mean asymmetry. This natural structure and alignment of the sizes of both lips will disrupt the correct proportions.
  • The second reason why lips lose definition and shape is aging. In older women, less skin tension, drooping corners of the mouth, and blurred boundaries between the lips and surrounding tissues are evident.

In both cases, the procedure returns beautiful shape, volume, definition and youthful appearance to the lips.

Lip augmentation

Lip augmentation (lip contouring, lip modeling) is a modern and effective procedure in aesthetic medicine

It is carried out by injecting gels (fillers) into the lips based on stabilized hyaluronic acid

The main objectives of lip contouring are: - increasing the volume of the lips - creating a clearer contour - correcting perioral wrinkles - these are wrinkles that radiate perpendicularly from the lips, they are also called “purse string”. - correction of marionette wrinkles - these are wrinkles running from the corners of the mouth downwards. — raising the corners of the mouth — correction of other aesthetic imperfections associated with correcting lip asymmetry and improving their shape

What are the advantages of gels (fillers) based on stabilized hyaluronic acid: 1) Biocompatibility and safety - hyaluronic acid is a natural component of human tissue (skin, connective tissue, cartilage tissue, etc.) That is why gels based on hyaluronic acid have excellent biocompatibility with tissues body and are the safest.

2) Biodegradation - over time, the gel is completely destroyed by the body's own enzyme - hyaluronidase.

3) Duration of the effect - gels based on HA are able to maintain the filling effect from six months to one and a half years. The destruction of the gel occurs gradually, releasing hyaluronic acid molecules, which ensures constant hydration of the lips and the area around them.

4) The high demand for the lip modeling procedure has inspired many manufacturing companies to improve technologies and create new products for lip modeling. Such preparations have both high density, which provides a long-lasting effect, and the ability to create a soft, natural volume.

5) Modern preparations based on hyaluronic acid are not for nothing called smart preparations - they “stand perfectly” and do not move anywhere from the area of their initial administration. Within 2 weeks from the moment of injection, the gel is gently and evenly distributed, “lays down”, leaving no “balls” or compactions.

How is the lip modeling/enlargement procedure performed? The lip area is quite sensitive to pain, so anesthesia (conductor or in the form of an anesthetic cream) is used before the procedure. Then the gel (filler) is injected

Depending on the anatomical and age characteristics of each patient, as well as on the desired result, different administration techniques and different volumes of the drug can be used. As a rule, 1 ml of gel is used to model lips in young patients (if the effect is insufficient, an additional amount of gel can be administered after 2-4 weeks).

Patients with pronounced age-related changes in the lips and the area around them (decreased tone and moisture of the lips, decreased fullness and “naturity” of the lips, wrinkles around the mouth, drooping corners of the mouth) may require a larger amount of the drug

The procedure takes about half an hour, and is completed with a light modeling massage for a more even distribution of the gel.

It should be remembered that any invasive procedures in the lip area are accompanied by swelling, and gel based on hyaluronic acid has the ability to attract and retain water

Therefore, it will be possible to evaluate the final result only after a few days, when the swelling has completely gone away.

In the video below I perform the lip augmentation procedure (+ a small necessary correction of the area nearby with botulinum toxin)

Recommendations after the procedure: – do not massage your lips yourself, limit facial activity for 3-4 days – exclude baths, saunas, facial massages and other warming procedures for 2 weeks – in case of bruising, use Traumeel S or Arnica ointment and etc.

Contraindications to the lip modeling/enlargement procedure: - inflammatory process at the site of the proposed injection (herpes, boil, etc.) - general diseases in the acute stage - previously introduced permanent filler (biopolymer gel, silicone or acrylic-based gels) in the area of the proposed injection - hypersensitivity to the components of the drug - pregnancy and breastfeeding

Types of fillers used in lip modeling

The first drug used for both modeling and lip augmentation is hyaluronic acid. It is the most widely used filler in aesthetic medicine worldwide. However, he is not the only one.

There are also thicker and denser fillers that give a more contrasting result. But they are used as a last resort, since if something goes wrong, the situation cannot be corrected.

It is also possible to fill the lips with the patient's own fat tissue, but this method is quite unpredictable. When performing the procedure, even an experienced doctor cannot predict to what extent the injected fat will be absorbed by the body, and in which area this will happen more or less, which makes it difficult to perform the procedure evenly and aesthetically.

Therefore, the best solution for lip modeling is undoubtedly medium-density hyaluronic acid.

What effects can be achieved by modeling?

As part of the lip modeling procedure, you can:

  • enlarge lips;
  • round them slightly;
  • recreate the boundary between the skin of the lips and surrounding tissues;
  • compensate for asymmetry;
  • restore proportions;
  • raise the corners.

The doctor should adhere to the principle that sometimes it is better to do an easier option than to overdo it with an unnatural appearance. It is ideal to divide the course of treatment into two periods:

  • in the first period, changes are made that are necessary in the opinion of the cosmetologist;
  • then, if necessary, the effect is enhanced.

Before the procedure, the doctor must carefully examine the patient’s face both from the front and in profile - the “new” lips should look aesthetically pleasing from all sides.

Features of creating the effect of kissed lips

Makeup artists insist that such lip makeup should be independent, without unnecessary accents. In particular, professionals recommend focusing exclusively on lips and clear, even-toned skin.

Avoid an “overloaded” look - don’t brightly paint your eyes or focus on blush. On the contrary, makeup should be neutral.

Even out your complexion with foundation, hide skin imperfections with concealer, and only then start creating the effect of kissed lips.

An excellent complement to kissed lips will be emphasized eyebrows. Beauty experts note that eyebrows and bright lips are the perfect duo for fall makeup.

Pain relief during lip modeling

The lips are highly innervated and vascularized—that is, they contain many blood vessels and nerve endings—so anesthesia is required for the procedure. Moreover, lip modeling usually requires about a dozen injections.

Anesthesia can be infiltration, in which the anesthetic is injected from the side of the lips. But it is better not to use this option, since the drug causes temporary muscle paralysis, and then it is difficult to obtain the ideal effect. It is much more correct to use an anesthetic cream, which takes effect in just 10 minutes.

Tips and techniques for applying lipstick

Many girls will probably be interested in how to create the kissed lips effect that is popular this season. You should start preparing by moisturizing your lips with a balm to remove flaking and unevenness. Then you need to apply foundation or a special base on them, and then choose the method you like:

  1. Apply a little lipstick to your lips and gently pat it into the center with your fingertips. Then, using a brush, you need to carefully blend the product so that the color gradually decreases towards the edges. The effect will be more juicy and expressive if you use a little gloss on top of the lipstick.
  2. More complex and interesting makeup can be done using two different shades. The light tone of lipstick is applied in a thin layer over the entire surface, and the dark one - only in the center. After this, you need to erase the boundary between the two shades so that there is a smooth transition from one color to another.
  3. A good alternative to lipstick is tint. To achieve such a make-up with it, you need to drop this product 2-3 times on the middle of your lips and close them. Then the tint will be distributed so that it becomes bright in the center and almost invisible at the edges, without forming an outline.

This technique of slight carelessness in makeup allows you to visually make your lips more voluminous and sexy, without giving the girl’s image vulgarity. This makeup option, when using its various techniques, will be appropriate in any situation - at work, on a date or at a party.

Effect of the procedure

For about a week after the procedure, the lips will swell slightly and appear larger than they will be. The final effect is visible after about two weeks.

When making an appointment with a cosmetologist, you need to understand that the cosmetologist does not always intervene in existing proportions globally. Sometimes minimal actions are enough to change a person’s appearance, making him look younger, more smiling and even happier.

The list of such lip modeling procedures includes:

  • raising the corners of the lips;
  • contour delineation;
  • slight change in shape, giving the face charm.

Unfortunately, more often than not, patients want to see drastic changes. And even if they approached the procedure carefully and conservatively the first time, agreeing to minor changes, they quickly get used to the new situation and with each subsequent visit they ask to introduce even more filler.

A good doctor will try to dissuade such a woman, explaining all the risks, but he should not refuse the procedure. After all, everyone has different tastes, and, ultimately, the cosmetologist’s task is to please the patient. She should leave happy and feel comfortable with her “new” lips.
