Hands after sugaring: should it be done completely or up to the elbow?

Hand depilation with wax is carried out by girls both at home and in a salon. After waxing, hands become smooth, moisturized and nourished, the skin acquires shine and, of course, those unwanted hairs disappear. Depilation of hands at home is also possible, and it can be done with a wide variety of waxes, including cartridge waxes. Today we will talk about what full hand waxing is. Read the following article on the pages of the magazine.

Depilation of hands with wax

In cosmetology and body care, there are several ways to remove unwanted hair from the body. The most common are those that give long-lasting results. Thus, hand waxing is the best option for thin and delicate skin, since there are important aspects when the procedure should be carried out in the most gentle way possible.

Waxing is significantly different from the waxing process. The fundamental difference lies in the effect on the hair follicle and the technique of carrying out this procedure. During hair removal, the follicle is destroyed, so after several courses the hair may no longer grow in the same place. This effect of wax guarantees complete thinning or even disappearance of hairs. Waxing does not guarantee you such a result, however, it helps make your hair less coarse and darker.

How does wax work on hair and skin?

Waxing is significantly different from the process of waxing.
Hot wax tends to stick to hairs.
It is sold in the form of special strips for home use and in large jars for procedures in professional salons. The required amount of wax is heated to the required temperature, close to body temperature. Using a special spatula or applicator, the substance is applied to the surface of the hands in a size corresponding to previously prepared fabric strips. When the wax has cooled, remove the strips with a sharp movement against the hair growth. Thus, the arm depilation procedure helps to get rid of other unwanted hair in the area of the shoulders and forearms.

Contraindications and possible complications

Before epilation, it is recommended to make sure that factors provoking complications are excluded. Any type of this procedure has its contraindications, which are expressed as follows:

  • concomitant development of an oncological tumor (benign or malignant);
  • periods of pregnancy and menstruation;
  • the course of diabetes mellitus;
  • epileptic seizures;
  • pathologies of the hematopoietic system;
  • infectious damage to the body;
  • hypersensitivity.

It is forbidden to epilate on dirty or damp skin. If there are small wounds, cuts or signs of inflammation on it, the procedure is postponed until a more appropriate moment.

To achieve the best effect, the use of any body cosmetics is not recommended on the day of the procedure. It creates the effect of a fatty film on the skin, which interferes with therapy.

Any type of hair removal can be accompanied by the following consequences:

  1. Laser: redness of the skin, swelling, burns, excessive hair growth, acne. Among the consequences that cannot be treated, it is worth noting the formation of scars, pigmentation, and increased sweating.
  2. Wax. During the first hours after hair removal, slight swelling and redness of the skin persists. Hair may also break off during the procedure, which subsequently grows into the skin.
  3. Sugaring. This technique may be accompanied by such unpleasant consequences as increased dryness of the skin, irritation in the form of a rash, ingrown hairs, burns, and increased growth in the area of therapy.
  4. Photoepilation. Hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation, skin burns, scars, and ingrown hairs may occur.

In any case, the choice of hair removal technique must be entrusted to a qualified specialist who will weigh the pros and cons. Only in this case can the consequences be avoided.

Depilation procedure

Experts recommend that before starting the waxing procedure, a preparatory base is carried out for the best effect. The skin area is subjected to peeling, which helps remove dead skin and cleanse skin pores. This procedure will create favorable conditions for the wax to work and contact the hairs.

After peeling, before depilation, a cooling gel is applied to the skin. It will relieve pain and disinfect the skin. If you don’t have such a gel at home, you can use a piece of ice to cool, and therefore numb, the skin area. After depilation, it will be necessary to remove excess wax, thus preventing contamination of the pores.

Waxing of hands has been carried out for quite some time. This is one of the fastest and most economical ways to make your hand skin smooth and soft. Other advantages of this technique include:

  • Completely natural composition of the depilatory product (provides protection against irritation and itching);
  • No allergies;
  • Long-term results (2-4 weeks);
  • Gradual suppression of hairs with regular use of wax (hairs become rarer, thinner and lighter).

Waxing cannot be considered a painless procedure, but it (unlike, for example, shaving) allows you to remove hair from the root. Over time, the hair on the arms becomes thinner and lighter, and the hairs themselves become thinner. Thus, each subsequent procedure will be easier to tolerate than the previous one.

After depilation, the skin will turn slightly red, so it would be logical to use cream, mousse or oil to moisturize the skin. By following the general instructions, you can avoid negative consequences and unpleasant skin sensations in the area being depilated. Like any other procedure, depilation has its pros and cons.

The advantages are long-lasting results and less expensive cost, unlike laser or photo hair removal. The main disadvantage is the requirements for the length of the hair, which must be at least 5 mm. It won’t be very smart to walk with such vegetation in the summer, when your arms are completely bare and exposed to everyone to see.

During the winter season, the depilation procedure will suit you more than anything else. By doing it at least once a month, by summer your hair will not be so dark, and therefore noticeable.

Full arm waxing

There are two types of hand waxing. In the first case, only the area from the hand to the elbow is treated, and in the second case, the entire arm is treated.

The day before the procedure, it is advisable to use a hand scrub. This will remove dead skin particles from the top layer of skin and avoid ingrown hairs. To make it easier to remove hair from your hands, you can slightly steam the skin immediately before depilation. Also remember that wax only works if the hairs are at least 5 mm long.

It is best to do hair removal in the evening, when unpleasant sensations are easier to bear. After the procedure, if possible, wear short sleeves and do not use hard washcloths or hand cosmetics for two days. If redness, dryness and other symptoms appear on the skin after depilation, use a nourishing soothing cream.

How long does it take for hair to grow after the procedure?

If you carry out the procedure correctly and use creams that slow down hair growth, the effect should last up to 3 weeks. Without the cream, the effect is slightly reduced - hair does not grow for up to 2 weeks. Also, a lot depends on the human body and the speed of hair growth.

Comparison of prices and duration of effect with other methods

Compared to other types of hair removal, waxing is one of the most budget options. But despite this, to maintain the effect of smooth skin, this type of hair removal must be repeated every 2-3 weeks. The price varies from 200 to 300 rubles for hair removal up to the elbow and from 300 to 300 rubles for full arm hair removal.

Sugaring has the same effect as wax. The price range is the same as for waxing.

Laser hair removal is considered the most expensive, but also the most effective way to get rid of unwanted hairs. The downside is that the laser must be used up to 10 times to achieve the desired effect. One session costs from 1,800 rubles and more, depending on the salon and the method of laser hair removal.

Depilation of hands with wax at home: cold or hot wax

Removing hair on the arms with wax can be done in two ways:

  • Cold . This method often uses strips of fabric backing, on which a thin layer of wax is applied.
  • Hot. The procedure can also be carried out using different compositions. But we must always remember that there are pros and cons of the procedure.

Among the advantages are:

  • Affordable price. Wax can be freely purchased in specialized stores or online.

Getting rid of hair for a long time. Each time, the hairs grow weaker and become lighter, which makes them less noticeable.

But some people prefer other methods of depilation, since waxing has its disadvantages:

  • Painful sensations.
  • There IS a risk of skin injury.

Removing hairs using this method increases the risk of ingrown hairs due to a change in the direction of growth. The procedure is not always effective if you have thin hair.

Step-by-step instructions for hair removal

To get a good result, consider step-by-step instructions on how to properly wax your arms up to the elbow:

  1. It is necessary to thoroughly wash the area of skin that is planned to be depilated. Then dry well with a towel, disinfect and degrease the skin with an alcohol-containing product;
  2. Heat the contents in the microwave or in a water bath;
  3. Sprinkle the area with baby powder or talc to prevent the wax from slipping off the hairs;
  4. Make sure that the temperature of the hand wax is not too high to begin the procedure;
  5. Apply the contents of the jar using a spatula in a thin layer along the hair growth;
  6. Quickly glue a fabric strip on top and smooth it with pressing movements;
  7. Quickly, with one jerk, against the growth of the hair, tear off the strip parallel to the hand.;
  8. There is no need to apply wax again to the same area if it is not possible to achieve perfect smoothness, so as not to injure the skin;
  9. Rinse with warm water or use a special napkin to remove wax residue (see other methods for removing wax after hair removal);
  10. Apply a sedative;
  11. If possible, you should use products that slow down hair growth.

Depilation of hands with wax in cartridges

Waxing in cartridges at home has a number of advantages compared to other methods of hair removal. So, thanks to the presence of a special roller, the wax evenly and gently penetrates deep into the pores and softens them, which makes the procedure less painful (even no redness remains).

Many options for the execution of such cassettes (with vegetable oils, extracts of medicinal herbs and other plants) provide a wide range of choices

Many options for the design of such cassettes (with vegetable oils, extracts of medicinal herbs and other plants) provide a wide range of choices.

But that's not all. Different attachments make it possible to remove unwanted vegetation both on large areas of the body (lower legs, thighs, legs) and in inconspicuous places. You can heat up the cartridge wax in just 15 minutes, which means that preparing for the procedure will not take you much time.+

Also, considering that the wax is in a special closed container with a dispenser, you can avoid unnecessary drips and unnecessary consumption of the composition (this factor also has a positive effect on the speed of the procedure). It should also be noted that the cartridge wax melter is safe, since the risk of burns or any other damage if used correctly is minimal.

No matter what capabilities the cartridge has, it is problematic to use it without a special device for heating the wax. The wax melter (this is the name of the mentioned device) is able to constantly heat the wax to the desired temperature, and you will not have to stop epilating. +

You can try to do without it, but it is very difficult to guess the temperature of the wax when heated in hot water or in the microwave, which means this can lead to burns and uneven heating of the contents of the container. Depending on the manufacturer, the number of cassettes used and possible additional functions, the price of wax melters differs.

Today on sale you can find both universal devices and individual models, the design of which is designed to use cartridges of a certain manufacturer or type. In the latter case, the heating program of the wax melter most closely matches the type of wax in the cassette, however, universal devices can be used in combination with different cartridges, which also has its advantages.

In addition to cassettes and a wax melter, before epilation, you also need to prepare strips or tapes to tear off the applied composition from the surface of the skin: they simply stick to the wax and, after it cools, are torn off along with the hairs. Such material can be sold in the form of individual strips or entire rolls made of fabric or paper.+

Wax residues are removed from the skin with special wipes or lotion, since they cannot be washed off with ordinary water. You can read more in the article about effective ways to remove wax residue after hair removal.

Types of wax depilation

Hot wax depilation is more dangerous and requires certain precautions. There is a risk of burns, but it is believed that this type is the most painless and does not cause irritation to the skin.

Stages of depilation with hot wax:

  1. The wax must be heated to a temperature of 46-48 degrees and applied to the skin in the direction of hair growth.
  2. We wait for the wax to harden to the state of plasticine, and tear it off with one sharp movement against the hair growth.

In contrast to hot wax, depilation with warm wax is considered the safest, since there are no too high temperatures. But at the same time, this type is more painful. With hot wax, steaming the skin simplifies the procedure. When depilating with warm wax, it is recommended to take a painkiller tablet or use special creams to alleviate pain, this is especially true if you have sensitive skin.

Epilation with warm wax is carried out as follows:

  1. It is necessary to warm up the wax and apply it to the skin in the direction of hair growth.
  2. Press the strip tightly against the skin and allow the wax to cool.
  3. Remove the wax with a sharp movement against the direction of hair growth.

Cold depilation is considered the simplest and easiest method, but it is also the most ineffective. Using this type you can remove fine hair on the face, but use in other areas with coarse hair is ineffective. Heat the wax strip between your palms, apply it to the skin, and after 30 seconds tear it off against the hair growth.

If after the procedure there are wax residues on the skin, and there is no special means for removing it at hand, then any oil, including olive oil, will help in this situation.
