Anti-aging skin care: we are not going to grow old!

Your anti-aging beauty routine likely already includes a facial moisturizer, a smoothing eye cream, and maybe even an anti-aging serum. But there's another key player missing from this list: anti-aging hand cream. Because the skin in these areas is thinner and more elastic, it tends to show age faster than other parts of the body, including the face.

Fortunately, modern anti-aging hand creams work quite effectively - they help eliminate any signs of aging (including wrinkles and dark spots) and prevent further damage.

We have collected the best anti-aging hand creams that will give your delicate skin optimal moisture and nourish it with all the necessary anti-age ingredients.

Age spots

The funny thing is that so-called age spots have absolutely nothing to do with age. This is a result of exposure to the sun. And if you love to roast in the hot southern sun, you can acquire this “decoration” long before the age of 50, when they most often appear in natural conditions.

You're unlikely to wear gloves when going out in the sun, but you can certainly afford to apply quality sunscreen to your hands every day. If you decide to use creams with whitening ingredients, be very careful and careful, improper use can lead to unpleasant consequences. Be sure to consult a dermatologist!

Be careful: some anti-aging creams contain acids. Therefore, you can use such products only at night, and during the day carefully protect your hands from the sun.

Cold Cream Concentrated Hand Cream by Eau Thermale Avène

“For an anti-aging hand cream to truly penetrate the skin and deliver its valuable ingredients, you should apply it right before bed,” says Dr. Sonia Batra, board-certified dermatologist at The Doctors. This product with a cooling effect, intended for very dry and damaged skin, is quickly absorbed and perfectly smoothes wrinkles. Since the formula is developed without fragrances, dyes and aggressive substances, the product is also suitable for sensitive skin.

Wrinkled and uneven skin

If the backs of your hands become too sculpted, you'll need a retinoid cream to improve skin texture and restore collagen. A dermatologist will recommend the most effective creams of this kind specifically for your skin type.

Hand cream based on inverse emulsion also perfectly evens out the texture and gives the skin a more uniform appearance. In a reverse emulsion, water droplets are enclosed in fat droplets, and this is exactly how the hydrolipid mantle of our skin is structured. Therefore, products based on reverse emulsion are most fully and physiologically absorbed by the skin. Such products are less common on sale than products based on direct emulsion (in which drops of water surround drops of fat). But for the skin of the hands they are more preferable, since they not only quickly restore damage, but can also be applied only twice a day. And even after washing your hands throughout the day, your skin will be in a comfortable condition.

Anti-aging skin care: effective methods

Botox

Botox injections relax and block the muscles that create wrinkles, such as those on the forehead.

The effect time of a Botox injection is three to six months, and wrinkles or fine lines either disappear or are dramatically reduced during this period. In addition to wrinkles, Botox is effective for crow's feet, laugh lines, and forehead wrinkles.

Botox injections should only be performed by a professional cosmetologist.

Chemical peels

Chemical peels can solve many age-related problems.

Chemical peels are designed to improve the appearance of skin and reduce wrinkles by removing one or more outer layers of skin.

Like Botox, chemical peeling, in particular medium and deep peeling, is performed by a doctor.

Chemical peels typically contain phenol, TCA (trichloroacetic acid) or AHA (alpha hydroxy acids).

Phenol is the strongest chemical peeling agent and provides the most impressive results. Phenol and TCA remove wrinkles and blemishes and even out tone.

TCAs are next strong, but usually require multiple applications. AHAs are the least potent and are typically used for skin brightening and smoothing rather than wrinkle removal.

At home, you can carry out superficial peels yourself, for example, with lactic acid, badyaga, and calcium chloride.

But even superficial peelings must be carried out carefully and in compliance with all proportions. In no case exceed the peeling exposure time and the % of acid in the solution.

Microdermabrasion

This procedure is carried out using special devices by a professional cosmetologist.

In this procedure, tiny crystals are sprayed onto the face using a device similar to a sandblaster, producing a gentle polishing action that removes the dead outer layer of skin on the face.

Microdermabrasion is less harsh than chemical peels and works well for women with sensitive skin.

Typically, several procedures are required to eliminate deficiencies.

Chemical peels and microdermabrasion remove the top layer of skin along with age-related imperfections such as age spots and fine wrinkles.

At the same time, the new skin that is formed after such procedures is more elastic and renewed.

But do not forget that these procedures are very traumatic and require careful care. Use products with panthenol during the healing process, do not go outside without sunscreen.

Mesotherapy

In short, mesotherapy is injections of vitamins and other substances beneficial to the skin.

Using micro-injections, punctures are made on the skin, which allows beneficial substances to penetrate deep into the skin.

After all, beneficial substances from creams and serums penetrate the skin very difficult. The molecules of a cosmetic product are much larger than the molecules of the dermis.

Such microinjections are performed by a professional cosmetologist, observing all precautions and hygiene.

At home, mesotherapy is carried out using a mesoscooter. This device is very easy to use and gives good results if you follow the instructions for use.

Of course, these procedures are not a panacea. But they are actually very effective for anti-aging skin care.

If you want quick results and are willing to spend the money, these treatments can provide significant improvements in skin texture and appearance.

Outdated manicure

As strange as it may sound, outdated nail care methods can make your hands look older. Keep up with the times and your hands will look younger. Now, for example, the norm is rather short nails, protruding only slightly beyond the fingertips.

In addition, the right nail polish can distract attention from any skin imperfections (wrinkles, cracks and blemishes), but use traditional shades of subtle red or even purple, leaving neon shades (poisonous green or bright yellow) for schoolgirls at the disco .

Anti-aging facial care: don't give up

If you're serious about anti-aging facial care, you need to explore all your options.

Although cosmetics may seem like a logical solution, over time they may simply turn out to be ineffective and you will have to spend more and more money to achieve any effect.

But practice shows that the effectiveness of anti-aging creams is not high enough. Aging skin has many disadvantages - age spots, wrinkles, creases, sagging cheeks, nasolabial folds, drooping eyelids...

This list can be enumerated ad infinitum. Some people are lucky and have only a small percentage of these age-related defects, while others have a whole bunch of defects.

Such age-related changes usually do not respond to conventional creams, even those designed specifically for aging skin.

In this case, it is necessary to use “heavy artillery” in the form of Botox injections, peelings, microdermabrasion, mesotherapy and other hardware techniques.

Anti-aging hand care

  1. Contrasting mustard baths . They literally revitalize the skin. Prepare a liter of water (hot and separately cold) and dry mustard (1 teaspoon). Dissolve mustard in hot water. Alternately put your hands in hot and cold, hold for 5-7 minutes, finish the procedure with cold. Important: the contrast in temperature difference should not be too great; you do not need to take almost boiling water and ice water. The water should be pleasantly warming and pleasantly cool. After each immersion in water, you can apply a rich cream to your hands and massage lightly. At the end, rinse your hands with clean cool water and apply the cream again.
  2. Glycerin mask with corn . You need corn flour and glycerin (which can be purchased at the pharmacy). Mix these two components thoroughly (you can add water for consistency), the mask can be made every day.
  3. Mayonnaise mask. Fat mayonnaise is suitable, apply it to your hands, put cellophane gloves on top, then insulating gloves, hold for half an hour, rinse thoroughly with warm water using massaging movements.
  4. Coffee mask. You need coffee grounds, apply them to your hands, hold them for 15-20 minutes, then gently massage them for 10 minutes, rinse them off, and apply a rich nourishing cream. You can mix coffee grounds with any base oil.

Price and brand

When choosing a suitable anti-aging cream, you must be guided by 2 main factors of price-quality ratio. Expensive and branded cosmetics do not always give the desired result.

Cosmetologists recommend choosing mid-budget creams that have a good composition and are suitable for a certain skin type. A good product doesn't always have to be super expensive.

When using an anti-aging cream, it is important to pay attention to the expiration date, since an expired product will only have an adverse effect on the skin. When purchasing cosmetics, you should pay attention to age restrictions and choose a product in accordance with your age and the desired rejuvenation effect.

How to choose a cream?

You should choose a cream depending on what skin problem is bothering you.

As already mentioned, the skin of the hands can be rough, sensitive, with age spots or ulcers. Therefore, different components of the cream will help solve certain problems.

For example, coconut and avocado oils make the skin of your hands soft, tea tree prevents inflammation, elastin and collagen protect against aging, and aloe promotes rapid healing of wounds.

The skin of the hands is softened by creams that contain chamomile, calendula extract, as well as decoctions of chamomile, sage, and linden.

Hand care tips

  1. Do housework with gloves, after applying protection.
  2. Wash your hands with warm water, but not cold or hot.
  3. Use toilet soap with PH=5.5.
  4. Apply the cream daily.
  5. Nourish the skin with effective masks.
  6. Don't forget about weekly baths and hand massages.
  7. In winter, supplement your care with paraffin therapy.

In all cases of using hand care products, the result will be only positive, because it is difficult to harm yourself with natural products. For a better effect on your hands, you can experiment with any components and find ones that are more acceptable to you.

Hand skin cleansing and whitening

Since the skin of the hands is constantly exposed to aggression, it becomes rougher faster and sometimes even darkens.

For intensive skin cleansing and renewal, you can use:

  1. Lemon juice - mix it with buttermilk powder to achieve the consistency of thick sour cream. The mixture brightens perfectly. Hold in your hands for half an hour.
  2. Acidified water (a few crystals of citric acid or 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar per 1 glass of water).
  3. Warm boiled potatoes. To enhance the effect, it can be mixed with milk and lemon juice.
  4. Fresh tomato juice or fresh tomatoes. Grind the pulp and apply to your hands. Leave for up to half an hour, rinse the skin with milk (regular or oat milk).
  5. Potato starch. For a small bowl large enough to fit your hands, one tablespoon of starch is enough. The mixture should look like jelly. Keep your hands in it for about 15 minutes.
  6. Yogurt is another gentle way to whiten your skin and is very good for dry and delicate thin skin. Add fresh lemon juice to natural low-fat yogurt by eye, mix, hold on hands for 15 minutes, this procedure can be carried out daily.

Homemade hand creams

They all differ in the intensity of their impact. Ideally, they should be used immediately after preparation. But can be stored in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks.

  1. Oatmeal based. Pour two tablespoons of oatmeal with hot milk and leave for half an hour. Grind the resulting mass, add lanolin (70 grams, can be bought at a pharmacy), add vegetable oil. Keep the resulting cream on your hands for at least 40 minutes.
  2. Milk cream. Sour cream, milk, cottage cheese, cream are mixed in equal proportions, add a couple of spoons of honey. Apply to hands for half an hour.
  3. Tomato cream. Grate a ripe tomato, add beaten egg whites, and any vegetable oil (you can use oil-based vitamins). Hold in your hands for 30 minutes.
  4. Fruit cream. Mash or puree an apple or banana. Add a spoonful of sour cream or cream, as well as a spoonful of oatmeal or rice flour for thickness. Hold in your hands for half an hour.
  5. Lanolin cream with herbs. Prepare a decoction from any suitable medicinal plant. Mix a mixture of 70 grams of lanolin and a teaspoon of any base oil thoroughly with the broth. Apply once every two days for half an hour.

Causes of age-related changes

Age-related changes in the skin, including on the hands, are a natural biological process that always affects women and men. The age at which signs of aging first appear depends on many factors, with men typically aging earlier due to low estrogen levels.

If in women visible signs appear after 35, in men this occurs on average 5-7 years earlier. This process largely depends on :

  • lifestyle;
  • presence of bad habits;
  • genetics;
  • care

The last point is often neglected, although the right care can help keep the skin of your hands young much longer.

European cosmetologists advise their clients to begin care even before the first signs of aging appear - at 25-30 years old.

This helps prevent the formation of wrinkles and maintain elasticity, which is much easier than dealing with problems that have already appeared.

Other reasons:

  • Sun . Ultraviolet radiation emitted by sunlight causes the appearance of age spots and thinning of the skin. Of course, this does not happen overnight, but exposure to the sun over many years contributes to the deterioration of the skin on the hands. Allison Arthur, an American dermatologist, claims that 80% of the processes associated with the appearance of wrinkles and loss of elasticity are triggered by ultraviolet radiation;
  • exposure to household chemicals . Aggressive components of cleaning products and detergents provoke dryness, which later results in thinning and loss of elasticity. Excessive cleanliness and frequent hand washing, by the way, also negatively affects the water balance of the dermis;
  • environmental impact . In addition to the sun, snow, wind and rain can accelerate age-related changes. As a result of constant stress, the skin of the hands becomes dry, flaky and covered with fine wrinkles. Monitor the air humidity at home - in the warm season it should be at the level of 30-60%, in winter - 35-40%.

Hand creams, how to use them, which ones to choose

It is advisable to have all types of creams in your arsenal: moisturizing, protective, nourishing (especially winter), anti-aging, healing (depending on the situation: against cracks, against protruding veins, etc.).

The basis of any industrial cream is water. The more it is, the more liquid the cream has. The base also includes regular glycerin and lanolin. The cream can also be made from animal and vegetable fats. UV filters are rare in hand creams because they can contribute to dehydration and dryness of the skin.

Extracts of plants and herbs are usually contained in small doses, calculated

Anti-aging components are collagen and elastin.

Does glycerin retain moisture or take it away from the skin? It's all about the air around you. Glycerin takes moisture from anywhere - from the air, from the skin if the air is too dry. So you shouldn’t be afraid of glycerin-based creams - it’s just important to use it correctly and not use it in dry rooms, especially in winter.
