Body peeling is a popular cosmetic procedure that can be done either in a spa or at home. From the wide variety of body peelings, everyone can choose a composition that ideally takes into account the characteristics and condition of the skin . The essence of the procedure is controlled damage that stimulates skin renewal and restoration. In most cases, the surface layers of the epidermis are destroyed, like a sponge absorbing the remains of cosmetics, dirt, secretions of sweat and sebaceous glands. Ideally, the skin should independently get rid of keratinized scales and products of its own vital activity, and so it is, but with age this process slows down, which leads to a deterioration in nutrition and blood supply to the largest organ of the human body. As a result, the skin loses its elasticity, becomes flabby and fades prematurely. Body peeling makes it possible to regularly renew the skin and prolong its youth . Body peeling can be done at any age.
SALON BODY PEELING
Whole body peeling is not always carried out in a salon: quite often a specialist is contacted to solve a local problem. The procedure is also prescribed as part of anti-aging therapy.
Types of body peeling
Exfoliation is divided into types according to the type and depth of impact. The first group includes:
- Chemical methods based on acids and other drugs.
- Mechanical methods (carried out using brushes, abrasives, etc.).
- Hardware (laser, vacuum, ultrasonic, etc.).
Using these methods, it is possible to exfoliate both the upper dead layer of cells (in the case of superficial peeling), and the living cells of the epidermis, and a deeper layer: the dermis (for medium and deep peeling).
Chemical peeling for the body helps slow down the aging process or eliminate the signs of aging after 30-40 years. For this purpose, acids such as lactic, retinoic, azelaic, phytic, kojic or glycolic are commonly used.
Mechanical exfoliation (brossage, microdermabrasion and dermabrasion) involves both conventional scrubbing with fingertips and the use of various devices. It is for this reason that some methods refer to several types of peeling at once.
As for hardware technologies, they are always based on the use of devices to get rid of cellulite, stretch marks and other things. These include:
METHOD | PECULIARITIES |
Laser |
|
Vacuum |
|
Ultrasonic |
|
Microdermabrasion |

The appropriate type of procedure is selected in consultation with a cosmetologist. Young people, as a rule, are prescribed delicate cleansing, and at an older age or in the presence of serious problems (multiple old post-acne, age spots or scars), medium or deep peelings are recommended.
We recommend: ULTRASONIC FACIAL PEELING: what is it?
The last two types of deeper effects on the skin of the body are carried out exclusively in beauty salons. Since during such sessions the living layers of the epidermis (dermis) are removed and the risk of infection is high, this cannot be done without the supervision of an experienced doctor.
Medium or deep treatments (such as fractional laser or dermabrasion) have a much more pronounced effect and require fewer sessions. However, due to their traumatic nature and long rehabilitation period, they are prescribed much less frequently.

Main stages
Let's take a step-by-step look at how body skin is exfoliated in a salon.
All methods have their own protocol for the procedure, but they also have some similarities:
- First, the skin is cleansed and steamed to open the pores.
- Then the epidermis (dermis) is polished.
- Finally, as a rule, a soothing cream or aroma oil is applied.
Duration of the procedure: about 40 minutes.
After the first session, some changes appear:
- Skin color and texture are evened out.
- A slight lifting is noticeable.
- The pores become narrower.
- Stretch marks and scars fade.
- The dimples of cellulite become less pronounced.
These changes are visible within a few hours after exfoliation, but the final effect appears only after 1-2 weeks, depending on the type of peeling. During this time, the new epithelium should be fully formed, and the following sessions can be carried out.
Post-peeling care
To achieve a prolonged result and prevent complications, proper care after the procedure is required. Doctors say that professional care during the recovery phase ensures up to 80% success rate of exfoliation.
After aggressive exposure to acids or resurfacing, pharmaceutical creams with panthenol or vitamin A derivatives may be prescribed. It is worth refraining from using other exfoliants between sessions so as not to injure the skin that has not yet recovered (scars may form). Also, you should not sunbathe to prevent age spots from appearing.

The maximum result is manifested only within the framework of a course of use: after 3-8 times, depending on the aesthetic defect, with pauses of 1-2 weeks (prescribed by the doctor). For maintenance care in the future, 1 session per month is sufficient.
Peeling for oily skin
Oily skin requires especially careful care. Peeling is recommended to be done at least once a week. In this case, the cleansing can be deep, unlike the two previous cases. Here we suggest using sugar as the basis of the peeling mixture . It is larger, and therefore rougher, than soda. And you will need to mix it with aloe vera juice, then add the grated zest of one lemon and, if available, a few more drops of lemon essential oil.
Peeling acne-prone skin
Acne-prone skin requires delicate treatment. After all, what is acne? These are essentially small inflammations. But this does not mean that such leather does not need to be cleaned. On the contrary, this is necessary to remove contaminants and prevent inflammatory processes.
We suggest using a homemade peel with the following ingredients: baking soda, aloe vera gel, a few drops of coconut oil and a few drops of tea tree essential oil.
What are the benefits of the peeling procedure?
- This prevents the appearance of various spots on the skin and fights existing ones, making them less noticeable.
- Gives a natural, radiant skin color.
- Peeling promotes the appearance of new cells.
- Activates the process of collagen production.
- Improves blood circulation.
- Helps prevent skin sagging and delay the appearance of wrinkles.
- Leaves skin significantly softer and smoother.
- Allows you to cleanse the skin of toxins and promotes oxygen saturation.
Peeling for dry skin
Peeling dry skin should be done especially carefully and carefully. And no more than once every two weeks . The recipe we offer contains baking soda as the main component, since it has quite small grains. And also because baking soda alkalizes the skin. So it is ideal for particularly sensitive areas.
The mixture is prepared as follows: baking soda must be mixed with olive oil to a homogeneous consistency so that the soda absorbs a sufficient amount of it and turns its color.
For mature skin, we also recommend adding a few drops of rosehip oil or geranium essential oil. Both of these ingredients promote deeper repair and regeneration of skin cells.
