Bodylifting (torsoplasty) is a radical method of correcting changes in body contours

What is radio wave thermolifting?

Radio wave lifting (other names: RF lifting, radio lifting) is a type of thermolifting. The essence of the technique: non-surgical thermal effect on the skin with electric current. Radio waves warm up skin cells, triggering self-renewal processes.

Radio wave face lifting - the essence of the procedure and indications for use

Differences between RF techniques and laser or infrared thermolifting:

  • moderate tissue heating temperature (not higher than 50°C) ensures a gentle effect on the body;
  • treatment of a limited area of skin. During the procedure, the doctor acts on problem areas of the skin without affecting the body as a whole;
  • The penetration depth of thermal waves is adjustable and can reach from 0.5 to 40 mm. The RF technique allows you to customize the device depending on the needs of the skin.

Radio wave techniques were first used in the 1980s in US clinics. Today the procedure is also performed in Russian beauty salons.

Radio wave face lifting, reviews of which are mostly positive, is liked by patients for the speed of visible effect and comfort during therapy.

Advantages of radiolifting over “plasty” and beauty injections:

  • the result of rejuvenation is visible after 1 session;
  • no pain during the procedure;
  • the technique can be carried out at all times of the year and is suitable for any skin type;
  • hardware heating does not leave scars, cicatrices, or puncture marks;
  • fast rehabilitation. Immediately after the RF lifting session, the patient returns to his usual lifestyle; no hospital treatment is required.

Complications

Possible complications after body lifting include:

  • hematomas;
  • seromas;
  • the appearance of hypertrophic or keloid scars;
  • inflammatory processes.

Therefore, it is necessary to carefully follow the recommendations of doctors in the postoperative period, not to neglect dressings, drug therapy, ultrasound, puncture, etc.

Rehabilitation after torsoplasty

Rehabilitation after a circular body lift is similar to rehabilitation after traditional abdominoplasty, but is complicated by a large volume of intervention: the patient will spend up to 4-5 days in the clinic. Surgeons then remove the drains and the patient can return home. There is no need to remove sutures; torsoplasty uses absorbable suture material.

Next, for a month and a half you need to wear compression garments, refrain from any stress, thermal procedures (baths, saunas), and visits to public swimming pools. Nutrition in the early postoperative period should be easily digestible, exclude salty, fatty, and fried foods. Since body lifting also affects the area of the hips, buttocks, and back, the patient is monitored more carefully during the rehabilitation period. The skin on the back and thighs is different from the skin on the abdomen; it is impossible to avoid its tension during movement. Therefore, in order to prevent hematomas, seromas and other complications, it is necessary to more carefully monitor wound healing.

Operation efficiency

Torsoplasty gives a good aesthetic result, improves the patient’s quality of life and makes his life much easier. Usually in just one operation it is possible to achieve amazing results. However, in some cases a re-correction or a second stage may be required.

Mechanisms of action of RF lifting on the skin and subcutaneous fat of the face

Warm radio waves stimulate the renewal of collagen, which forms an elastic framework under the skin, providing smoothness and elasticity. As we age, collagen production in the body slows down and wrinkles appear. The RF device heats up water molecules in skin cells. The body perceives an increase in temperature as stress and turns on a protective reaction.

What happens in the end:

  • the construction of collagen fibers is accelerated;
  • hyaluronic acid is produced, which maintains the water balance in the cells;
  • blood circulation and general metabolism improves.

Protective processes on the outside provide a comprehensive rejuvenating effect. The skin is tightened and looks hydrated. The complexion improves, lethargy and signs of fatigue disappear.

Indications for radiolifting of the face, neck and décolleté

The main criterion for admission to the procedure is age - it is performed on adults.
But most often it is considered by people after 35 years. Patients may include not only women, but also men. Indications for this include both age-related changes in the skin and its individual defects (weak turgor by nature, the presence of facial folds and crow’s feet near the eyes). This is why radio face lifting is needed:

  • Improving skin tone with severe sagging
    . As a result of its saturation with moisture and an increase in the amount of protein in the tissues, a strong framework of the dermis is formed. As a result, the cheeks stop sagging and the eyebrows are at the desired level.
  • Contour correction and face lift
    . Upon reaching the age of 30, his oval undergoes changes: his cheekbones recede, the corners of his lips and eyes droop, his eyebrows sag. Radio lifting helps to correct such changes.
  • Reducing the number of wrinkles
    . Here we are talking about both massive, deep “instances” and single skin folds.
  • Double chin removal
    . In this case, radiolifting of the face is combined with a cervical type.

Regardless of the effect, the main indication for this procedure is insufficient production of collagen in tissues.
It is relevant when nasolabial folds, wrinkles on the lower and upper eyelids, forehead, nose, and bags under the eyes are pronounced. After childbirth and breastfeeding, in addition, correction of the décolleté area may be required, and in case of sudden weight loss, the neck. This is a great option for lifting your eyebrows and highlighting your cheekbones. Among the additional effects of the procedure, one should highlight the activation of skin regeneration, the removal of scars and acne.

RF lifting methods

Radio wave procedures are carried out using different devices. The doctor chooses the appropriate technique depending on the patient’s skin condition.

There are 3 types of devices:

  • monopolar equipment appeared first in the history of lifting therapy. The device is equipped with a heating nozzle with 1 electrode;
  • bipolar apparatus - an improved and most common version. The heating nozzle uses 2 electrodes that balance each other;
  • tripolar and polypolar device – innovative equipment. The nozzles are equipped with switchable 3-20 electrodes. There are polypolar devices for complex effects on the face and body, with functions of vibration massage and infrared radiation.

The methods provide the same rejuvenation effect, but differ in the intensity of the effect on the body. An unequal number of procedures is required for visible results.

Monopolar

The most powerful, “shock” technique that gives an instant visible result of rejuvenation. Therapy is carried out in 1 session. With the monopolar technique, maximum heating temperatures are used (up to 50°C), which explains the rapid effect. The procedure is not performed on vulnerable areas with thin skin and in the area around the eyes.

Bipolar

The procedure is gentle on the skin and allows you to treat problem areas with wrinkles without affecting healthy areas. The power of the device with 2 electrodes is adjustable, which allows it to be used on sensitive areas of the face. The heating temperature does not exceed 40-45°C.

The disadvantage of the technique is that course therapy is required for visible results. The average duration of the course is 6 sessions with breaks of 10-12 days.

Tripolar and polypolar

The technique is suitable for rejuvenating areas of different sensitivity, including thin skin of the eyelids. The versatility of polypolar lifting is explained by the design of the equipment. In a device with many electrodes, you can regulate the temperature and power of operation.

Heat waves penetrate the superficial and deep layers of tissue, providing uniform and safe heating. The advantage of the method is its speed. 1 session lasts 15-30 minutes. The downside is that for visible results a long course of procedures is required - 10 or more.

What it is?

As is already clear from the name of this intervention, the operation is performed to correct the torso. In this case, surgeons work not only with the patient’s skin and subcutaneous fat, but also with the muscle corset. This is a rather complex operation, and it is performed only when indicated .
As a rule, it is prescribed to patients who have lost dozens of extra pounds in a short period of time. As a result of rapid weight loss, negative consequences and quite serious diseases develop. When a person loses weight slowly, the skin gradually tightens and the body remains in proper shape.

Sudden and serious weight loss leads to the skin significantly sagging and forming folds , which not only cause psychological discomfort, but also cause skin pathologies. It may take several years for the skin to tighten on its own, but in some cases the skin folds remain for life. Torsoplasty allows you to solve this problem and restore patients’ confidence in their attractiveness.

Efficiency and safety of the procedure

Radio wave face lifting (reviews from patients and specialists coincide) gives both immediate and delayed, cumulative effects. After 1 procedure, the skin is tightened and the face looks rested. The tone becomes fresher, the tone around the eyes increases. The tense fold between the eyebrows, which gives a frowning appearance, is smoothed out.

The immediate tightening effect is explained by the contraction of collagen fibers as a result of heating. The true effect of rejuvenation from the inside appears after 20-25 days, when young collagen fibers grow. Wrinkles are smoothed out, skin turgor in the chin area improves, and the overhanging fold under the eyebrow disappears.

The full result can be assessed after six months, when a new collagen framework is formed under the skin. The effect lasts for 2-2.5 years. To prevent aging, it is recommended to repeat the RF rejuvenation course once every 12 months.

Radio wave therapy does not cause allergies or addiction. The hardware technique eliminates the risk of contracting infections.

Goals and objectives of torsoplasty

Body lifting is a plastic surgery aimed at removing excess skin from problem areas of the body. The first attempts to tighten sagging abdominal tissue after childbirth or weight loss were made at the end of the 19th century. Back then it was called a dermolipectomy.

Torsoplasty received further impetus to the development in 1916. American surgeon WW Babcock made another attempt to improve the female figure by removing an ellipse-shaped flap of skin from the abdomen. This was a real breakthrough in plastic surgery, which made it possible not only to tighten the stomach, but also to effectively highlight the waist and buttocks.

The first standards for torsoplasty as a medical procedure appeared only in 1967. At the same time, the main goals and objectives of bodylifting were developed:

  • tightening of the hips, sides, abdominal wall and buttocks;
  • ridding the patient of skin folds and residual fat;
  • figure modeling.

The advantage of complex intervention over several sequential procedures is not only time savings, but also better results. Loose skin can be immediately tightened and redistributed in all directions, and seams are successfully hidden in the bikini area.

Indications

The purpose of RF lifting is to renew damaged and aging skin. The technique helps to get rid of age-related changes and imperfections.

Indications for the procedure:

  • facial wrinkles in the area of the eyelids and eyebrows;
  • deep nasolabial folds;
  • “shaved” in the area of the cheeks and chin;
  • acne;
  • enlarged pores;
  • bags and puffiness under the eyes;
  • bright vascular network on the face;
  • acne scars;
  • dark spots.

Indications for torsoplasty

Torsoplasty is prescribed for:

  • hyperextension of the anterior abdominal wall after childbirth;
  • age-related changes in soft tissues;
  • condition after gastric resection.

The main indication for body lifting surgery is weight loss of 40 kg or more , as a result of which significant skin folds form on the back, chest, abdomen and thighs. A circular lift is not performed at the patient’s request; this procedure is included in the obesity treatment program.

Important! Torsoplasty, just like abdominoplasty, is not intended to relieve the patient of excess weight. These plastic surgeries should be undertaken only after the patient has lost weight in any other way.

Absolutely healthy people who have maintained a stable weight for several months are allowed to undergo surgery.

Contraindications

RF lifting, despite its gentle nature, involves an external effect on the body.

Radio wave techniques can be dangerous in 2 cases:

  • poor health;
  • use of implants and medical equipment with metal elements.

What should you be wary of?

Radio wave face lifting, reviews of which are left not only by clinic patients, but also by physicists and biologists, interferes with the natural processes of the body, disrupting systemic functioning. Active heating by radio waves increases tissue sensitivity and prevents cell regeneration.

Stress from RF lifting is not harmful to a healthy body, but in a weakened state it can aggravate the disease. There is a danger from the interaction of radio wave rays with medical equipment implanted in the body: implants, stimulators, pins. During the RF procedure, they will heat up along with the skin, which is potentially life-threatening.

Relative and temporary contraindications

Relative restrictions are associated with a temporary weakening of health, after which the body fully recovers. Radiolifting should be postponed until symptoms disappear.

List of temporary contraindications:

  • colds infectious diseases;
  • skin damage on the face;
  • period;
  • metal mesothreads under the skin. Thermolifting should be postponed until the threads are absorbed (8-9 months) to avoid burns.

Absolute contraindications

Radio wave procedures are excluded in the presence of severe and chronic diseases. In the presence of permanent implants and stimulators, RF lifting is prohibited due to a possible reaction with metal elements.

List of contraindications:

  • pregnancy and breastfeeding;
  • oncological diseases at any stage;
  • disorders of the nervous system with seizures;
  • diseases associated with impaired tissue regeneration: lupus, arthritis;
  • diabetes;
  • acute form of hypertension;
  • active stage of chronic diseases;
  • HIV;
  • dental implants made of metal ceramics;
  • use of a pacemaker.

Price of the radiolifting procedure

This is a non-surgical correction of age-related changes in the face and body.
The most pronounced results from RF lifting can be achieved between the ages of 35 and 50 years with moderate signs of skin aging. A standard radiolifting course consists of 3-10 sessions. Their number depends on the initial state of the epidermis, the area of impact and the complexity of the defects. The procedure can be done on the entire face at once, or partially on certain problem areas.

In Russia, the average price for an RF lifting service ranges from 2,000-30,000 rubles.

Result of radio facelift

If the skin was very sagging before the procedure, then after it it is noticeably tightened.
The first results are noticeable after 2-3 visits to a cosmetologist. After 1-2 months, the amount of collagen in the tissues increases even more, so over time the effect does not fade, but only intensifies. It lasts for 1-2 years, after which the course can be safely repeated. No one can guarantee an immediate effect from facial radiolifting, since the result depends on the individual characteristics of the dermis. It tightens best when well moisturized. For women over 60 years of age, the situation is more complicated than for younger women, since their tissues contain critically little protein, and therefore there is practically nothing to warm up there.

According to patient reviews, small wrinkles disappear almost completely, and large ones become less deep. Radiolifting works best on the forehead area and facial folds near the lips. This is due to the fact that the skin here is the most taut. At the same time, there is an improvement in complexion, which acquires a healthy glow.

A nice bonus is a reduction in the number of acne, lightening of age spots and a reduction in the number of scars. But in any case, it will not be possible to get rid of them completely, since the procedure is still aimed at rejuvenation. To achieve it, the results must be consolidated by avoiding exposure of the face to open sunlight and visiting a solarium for 1-2 weeks. It is also useful to saturate the body with water and moisturize the skin. For each patient, the recommendations are slightly different.

Stages of the operation

Thorsoplasty is not intended to eliminate the causes of excess body weight. The purpose of body lifting, a rather traumatic and time-consuming operation (usually from 4 to 8 hours), is to correct external changes in the body that occur as a result of weight loss. Body lifting is a summary technology, the result of an organic combination of several techniques.

Photos “before” and “after” torsoplasty:

The lines of proposed incisions in the areas of the operation are first marked on the skin, which is carried out in several stages:

  1. After being put under anesthesia, the patient is turned onto his stomach and liposuction is performed on the back and lumbar region. Two incisions connect both sides of the anterolateral surfaces of the lumbar region. They are carried out in such a way that the subsequently formed scars are invisible under underwear. One of the incisions passes at the level of the iliac crest, the second along the upper edge of the gluteal muscles and in the sacral area. The resulting skin flap with subcutaneous tissue is excised, and the skin is detached from the upper and lower incisions towards the back and buttocks, respectively. Then, if necessary, the patient’s own fat tissue is transplanted under the skin in the buttock area and the tissue is tightened, followed by suturing.
  2. While anesthesia continues, the patient is returned to the original position (on his back) and abdominoplasty is performed. The upper incision on the abdomen connects the ends of the upper incision in the lumbar region and runs along the edge of the costal arches above the navel. Lower - connects the ends of the corresponding incision in the lumbar region. It runs along the upper anterior edge of the iliac bones, along the inguinal folds and above the pubis. A circular incision is made around the navel. Excess tissue without the navel is excised.
  3. The skin with the subcutaneous fat layer is separated from the muscular aponeurosis up and down from the edges of the skin incisions. The median edges of the rectus muscles are sutured together to eliminate their diastasis (divergence). Thus, the aponeurosis of these muscles is strengthened. This is necessary to prevent their divergence with the subsequent development of a postoperative hernia of the white line of the abdomen.
  4. Tissue is tightened, the navel is formed with its location in its natural place, drains are placed under the skin for the outflow of blood and serous discharge, skin sutures are applied and a compression bandage is put on.

Step-by-step instructions for exposure to radio pulses at home

RF devices differ in terms of operation in details: time of exposure to the skin, use of contact gel and restorative agents. The rules for skin preparation, stages of implementation and features of facial care after therapy remain common to all RF gadgets.

Contraindications to the use of radio wave lifting devices

Home RF gadgets are subject to the restrictions specified for similar salon procedures:

  • eye diseases;
  • increased skin sensitivity;
  • dilated blood vessels on the face;
  • tendency to allergies;
  • acne and acne;
  • irritation and peeling of the skin after sunburn.

How to prepare your facial skin?

The effect of radio wave therapy will be greater if the skin is well moisturized. Before an RF session, injection procedures that improve hydrobalance are encouraged: mesotherapy or revitalization.

Before radiolifting, cosmetic techniques associated with controlled damage to the skin, such as microdermabrasion, laser resurfacing, peeling, are prohibited. Heat exposure will disrupt tissue healing.

Immediately before the session, remove contact lenses and metal jewelry: piercings, earrings. Makeup or remnants of care cream are removed. The facial skin is thoroughly cleansed with clean water and soap or foam for washing. Men need to shave.

Stages of implementation

The procedure is carried out in a dry room. Contact with water should not be allowed, as the RF device allows moisture to pass through.

Procedure:

  1. Contact gel is applied to cleansed skin in a thin, even layer. As the layer of the drug dries, it is renewed so that the face remains moisturized during the procedure.
  2. The device is placed on the surface of the skin and the nozzle is moved along the massage contours.
  3. At the end of the session, the remnants of the contact agent are removed with a dry cloth and the face is lubricated with a nourishing cream or a restorative preparation for RF correction.

The procedures are carried out in courses: about 3 sessions per week are done for 2 months. To prevent aging, the course is repeated after 6 months.

Skin care after RF lifting

After the procedure, moisturizer is regularly applied to the facial skin. In the next 1-3 days, it is important to drink a lot of water - up to 2-3 liters - in order to free the body from the effects of radio wave exposure. For 7-14 days after the procedure, physical activity, visiting the solarium and bathhouse are prohibited.

Undesirable consequences

After RF lifting, the skin's sensitivity to sunlight increases, which can lead to the appearance of age spots. You can avoid the problem if, within 2 weeks after the procedure, you avoid tanning and prolonged exposure to direct rays. Before going outside, you should apply sunscreen with a high protection factor (SPF50).

The effectiveness of radio wave lifting is confirmed by scientific research and patient reviews. The procedure activates metabolic processes in the skin, allowing you to look younger. The non-surgical technique will not smooth out deep wrinkles, but it will cope with the task of refreshing the face, eliminating signs of fatigue and maintaining skin elasticity.

Undesirable consequences of facial radiolifting

When using high-quality equipment and highly qualified doctors, the procedure is absolutely harmless to health - there are no side effects after it.
The situation may worsen during radiolifting if there are any contraindications. In such a situation, exacerbation of existing diseases is possible. Very rarely, if the skin is hypersensitive, it will take 2-3 days to recover. In the first few days you may be concerned about:

  1. Redness
    . It is associated with strong heating of the skin, as a result of which the dermis is irritated. This entails the appearance of red areas in the treated area, which usually go away without outside intervention.
  2. Swelling
    . It may be associated with strong pressure from the tip or the evaporation of a large percentage of water from the tissues. In this case, the face becomes somehow puffy, bags appear under the eyes. For such problems, you can lubricate the skin with anti-inflammatory cream.
  3. Lumps or blisters
    . They are a consequence of a burn to the face, so if they appear, you should immediately consult a dermatologist. In addition to them, itching and rash may occur, which is often explained by an allergic reaction of the skin to cooling gels or attachments.

The most dangerous of all side effects is the inhibition of tissue regeneration, which leads to atrophy of the subcutaneous fat layer and the appearance of small depressions on the face.
This occurs due to the destruction of a large amount of protein responsible for the elasticity of the dermis. If it is deficient, it sags unsightly. Important! In order not to become a “victim” of a cosmetologist, before sitting in the chair, you should ask if he has the appropriate certificates and the type of equipment used.

Pros and cons of radio wave lifting

As cosmetologists promise, it improves the oval of the face, eliminates fine wrinkles and stretch marks, and tightens the skin.

The advantage over other anti-aging procedures is as follows:

  • comfortable and easily tolerated by the client;
  • the method is non-invasive (no injections), so any infection is excluded;
  • pronounced results immediately after the first session;
  • the effect lasts for a long time - for a year or more.

Now let’s look at the disadvantages and what harm RF lifting does to tissue.

Magnetic radiation

The thing is that high-frequency alternating current is a powerful magnetic field.

From Wikipedia:

High frequency currents are generally believed to be harmless when passing through the human body due to the skin effect. However, electric and magnetic fields and electromagnetic radiation generated in the presence of high frequency currents are likely to have harmful effects on living organisms

Of course, someone may object and say that one procedure will definitely not cause harm. But is the radiation level within acceptable standards?

The maximum permissible level of electromagnetic radiation, which should not have a negative effect on the human body, is 10 μW/sq.cm.

The radiation intensity of the average RF device is 4.5 W/sq.cm, and this is not the most powerful device.

It turns out that electromagnetic radiation from an RF device is 45 times higher than the permissible limit.

When living tissue is irradiated with electromagnetic waves, electrochemical processes occur that disrupt cell function.

The biological effect of the e/m field under conditions of prolonged exposure accumulates, as a result of which long-term consequences may develop, including degenerative processes of the central nervous system, blood cancer, brain tumors and hormonal diseases.

What follows from all this? The fact that radiofrequency lifting exerts its thermal effect solely on the skin does not make it 100% safe.

Because, in addition to the thermal component, there is also a magnetic component, which is not usually discussed.

Bad influence

The advertisement promises us to gently stimulate the fibroblast (the cell that is responsible for the synthesis of collagen and elastin) and force it to synthesize new collagen. It will make your face look young, fit and devoid of any hint of wrinkles.

It’s not like that, says Dr. Amina.

Radiofrequency lifting refers to extreme methods of rejuvenation, which means it is based on the destruction and damage of skin cells and fibrous structures. We pay for short-term results with early aging of the skin.

The basic idea of the procedure is to cook the proteins of the tissue under high temperature.

If we take a piece of beef and cook it in a pan, it will shrink in size. The same thing will happen to the collagen in our skin.

The tightening effect, which is expected immediately after the session, is based on this.

At the same time, temperature destroys not only tissue proteins, but also cells - platelets, erythrocytes, leukocytes and partially fibroblasts. Nucleic acids are released from them, the process of inflammation develops, and the very effect of the disappearance of fine wrinkles, which we see immediately after the procedure, is associated with inflammation, which is expressed by swelling.

When the swelling goes away, all the small wrinkles will return to their place. Inflammation forces the surviving fibroblasts to urgently patch the hole, producing fibrous scar collagen.

In addition, the body perceives any extreme increase in temperature in the dermis as a burn and reacts accordingly. Therefore, the most common complication of RF lifting is burns.
