How to correct the shape of your lips with makeup

Composition and features of implants

The peculiarity of the mouth modeling technique is:

  • lasting lifelong effect;
  • predicting the appearance of the face after surgery is easier than when using injections of your own fat or fillers;
  • the structures are easy to remove if necessary;
  • tissue sensitivity is preserved;
  • During the insertion of the implant, any other plastic surgery procedures can be performed;
  • natural look;
  • installation of aesthetic equipment lasts no more than 10 minutes.

Different types of implants have their own characteristics. This influences the choice of aesthetic equipment.

Types of implants:

  1. Natural - made from donor or animal tissues. Autoplasty is possible. The material for augmentation is taken from the patient. Such equipment does not cause allergic reactions or tissue rejection, but over time organic implants dissolve.
  2. Artificial - silicone or polytetrafluoroethylene. Install once, do not dissolve during the entire service life.

The choice of material for lip augmentation is the prerogative of the patient at the aesthetic surgery clinic.

Advantages and disadvantages

There are many methods for changing lip size, of which injections are the most popular. But compared to them, lip augmentation with implants has a number of advantages:

  • Artificial implants provide lifelong results, while those made from natural materials provide very long-lasting results;
  • Predicting the shape and volume is much easier than with injections;
  • Complete preservation of lip sensitivity;
  • Artificial structures are easily removed and replaced with others;
  • Implantation is compatible with other procedures, such as lifting.

The procedure also has some disadvantages:

  • Women who smoke have a high risk of implant failure;
  • The procedure is slightly more traumatic than simple injections;
  • Sometimes the implants can be felt;
  • If installed incorrectly, noticeable unevenness may occur;
  • Implants cannot correct uneven lips, since implants are even over the entire surface.

IMPORTANT: Implantation is suitable for those who have already tried injections and are ready for permanent lip augmentation, or for those who, if something happens, want to change the shape and size of their lips after surgery, because they are not sure of the result.

In the photo before and after lip augmentation, you can see that in general the procedure with implants actually looks more natural than injections, although it is associated with certain injuries, which is why injections are still popular.

Question: Implants for lip augmentation are not very popular; now people still prefer lip injections. Why do you think this is so, and is it justified? Isn't it better to give preference to implants?

Answers Dudnik Alexander Pavlovich, plastic surgeon, Chief physician of the Beauty Doctor plastic surgery clinic: “Why didn’t the implants work? Because a lot of non-absorbable implants (with their own fascia) have been invented. Even the fat that is offered for lip augmentation (lip lipofilling) will never give the softness and aesthetics that lips acquire with the help of hyaluronic acid. Lips are an active facial zone. Both the upper and lower lips are involved in the conversation; the person smiles using his lips. Hyaluronic acid, if administered within the correct aesthetic parameters, of course, does not lead to deformation. On the contrary, implants make lips sculpted. The second reason is very thin skin on the lips. Any crease, scratch, or dryness can lead to infection and, as a result, cause serious complications. The third reason is a short-term result, thanks to which the patient is free to make his decision. Fashion changes and in a year thinner lips may be popular. Due to the fact that hyaluronic acid quickly dissolves, a girl has the opportunity to completely change her image. Gels based on hyaluronic acid (fillers) won this battle; they give results, albeit short-lived.”

Lip implants are divided into two large groups:

  • Organic. There are allogeneic ones, which are made from donor tissues of other people or animals, or autogenous ones, made from the patient’s tissues. Over time they resolve, but are very rarely rejected;
  • Inorganic. Made from silicone or polytetrafluoroethylene. A very popular option, since it is placed once and for life, and does not require repeated operations.

There are many different artificial implants on the market, of which one of the newest and most interesting is the Perma Facial Implant.

Indications and contraindications for the procedure

It is believed that the indication for lip augmentation or any other form of lip correction is only the patient’s desire. This is not true.

Similar techniques are used for the following purposes:

  • with drooping lower lip;
  • tissue deformation, their fusion;
  • conditions after removal of tumors in the outer part of the mouth to replenish lost volume;
  • asymmetry, size correction;
  • age-related changes;
  • at the request of the patient.

Lip augmentation with implants is a surgical procedure. It has a number of contraindications, in which manipulations are not carried out even at the request of the patient.

Implantation is prohibited in the following cases:

  • against the background of acne treatment with Akutan and its analogues. It promotes the growth of scar tissue and the formation of keloids;
  • any connective tissue pathologies;
  • lupus, other autoimmune processes - surgical intervention can lead to exacerbation of diseases, exit from a state of remission;
  • any disease in the active stage;
  • herpetic infection in any condition - active, remission;
  • diabetes;
  • allergies to medications;
  • disruption of the thrombus formation process;
  • mental illness;
  • epilepsy;
  • pregnancy, lactation;
  • age up to 18 years.

Types of disease

Exfoliative

The disease is chronic in nature. Cheilitis affects only the red border.

It has not been studied enough; its development is believed to be related to neural factors. Patients often have psychoemotional disorders.

It appears in two forms. The dry form is characterized by impaired blood supply to the lips.

As a result of stagnation, dry scales are formed; they are easy to remove, but new ones appear in a few days. Lips dry and peel.

The exudative form is more complicated. The border of the lips is swollen and inflamed, extremely painful.

Crusts form in this area, causing discomfort when talking and eating. The process does not apply to the skin of the lips.

Angular

Angulitis or angular cheilitis is also popularly called jam. Inflammation of the mucous membrane and skin develops in the corners of the lips.

The “culprits” of the process are streptococci or fungi of the genus Candida. Streptococcal cheilitis most often affects children.

Infectious cheilosis, if left untreated, can spread the disease to the entire lip area.

Provoke cheilitis or angular stomatitis:

  • presence of infections in the mouth;
  • taking antibiotics;
  • avitaminosis;
  • habit of licking and biting lips.

Atopic

It appears in patients suffering from neurodermatitis or atopic dermatitis.

It is often caused by a genetic tendency to allergies - to medications, cosmetics, certain foods, dust.

Symptoms are itching, redness on the edges of the lips, peeling, formation of scales (as with ichthyosis) and cracks.

The disease does not spread to the oral mucosa. Typically, the atopic form is diagnosed in children and adolescents. The disease worsens in the autumn-winter period. Symptoms, treatment methods, photos of atopic dermatitis in children and adults can be found here.

Heilith Manganotti

Abrasive precancerous cheilitis Manganotti is a dangerous disease, a harbinger of cancer.

It most often affects the lower lip and is common in older people.

Erosion appears on the lips, which does not heal for a long time and bleeds. The disease is chronic and needs to be diagnosed and treated at the first signs of appearance.

The disease develops due to metabolic disorders in old age. Precancerous diseases also include post-radiation cheilitis.

Meteorological

It occurs due to the effect of adverse weather factors on patients with high sensitivity to cold, wind, precipitation, and solar activity. The main group of patients are men.

The lesion most often affects the lower lip: tightness, dryness, itching, and swelling are felt. Then erosion and cracks appear.

How does lip augmentation occur during implantation?

The surgical intervention takes place in 3 stages - preparation for 1.5 months, the procedure itself and the rehabilitation period.

Preparation

The preparatory period is long. The result of the operation and the duration of recovery depend on how carefully the patient followed the doctor’s recommendations.

Method of preparation for the procedure:

  1. Do not smoke for at least 6 weeks before the intervention - this will reduce the risk of rejection of the structure and scarring.
  2. Stop taking anticoagulants, homeopathic medications, and NSAIDs 2 weeks in advance—drugs can cause bleeding.
  3. Keep hydrated, which will shorten the rehabilitation period.

A general blood test, coagulogram, tests for HIV infection, and hepatitis are shown. An ECG is performed before the intervention.

How to visually reduce lips

But some girls, on the contrary, would like to have a smaller mouth. Here the tactics are different: we powder the surface of the lips and draw a contour inside the natural line - visually the lips will appear narrower than they actually are.

If you use matte lipstick, then plump lips will not be so noticeable. Matteness can be achieved by powdering pomaded lips.

Don't be nervous if you're not happy with your appearance today. And if you notice flaws in your makeup, this does not mean that others will see them. Next time you won't make these mistakes.

Operation

Surgery is performed only at the aesthetic surgery clinic under aseptic conditions.

The total duration of the procedure is 30 minutes. At the initial stage, local anesthesia is indicated; general anesthesia is not used.

The doctor will make incisions in the corners of the mouth and create tunnels for installation of the structure. Then the lip implant is inserted and stitches are applied.

The patient remains in the clinic for several hours under the supervision of medical personnel. At the end of the day, you are discharged from the hospital.

Recovery period

After surgery, physiological tissue swelling will develop. It is relieved with cold compresses. Hematomas may appear. The basic rule of behavior after lip augmentation is not to touch, not to press, and not to smoke.

After surgery, the doctor will prescribe anti-inflammatory and painkillers. Antibiotics are not needed.

Adding volume to lips

Many people associate plump lips with sensuality. Therefore, many often strive to visually enlarge them.

There are several ways to do this:

  1. Go slightly outside the outline . I emphasize, lightly! That is, a maximum of 1-1.5 mm on the upper lip - and 2 mm on the lower lip. If you draw the outline even further, it will be very noticeable and unnatural. Therefore, the main thing is not to overdo it. Also, in this case, you should not shade the contour pencil. Just apply lipstick on top.
  2. Play with light and shadow - use the ombre technique . That is, make a smooth transition from the dark contour of the lips to the light center. Use a contour pencil to draw the shape of your lips. Next, take a darker shade of lipstick, outline it, blend it towards the center, leaving a light spot in the center. Then apply a lighter shade of lipstick to the center. Blend from the center. For shading, you can use either a lip brush or a cotton swab. The most advantageous look is “ombre” using different shades of red. For example, wine red as an outline - and classic red in the center.
  3. Use lip glosses . Due to the glossy sheen and light reflection, the gloss makes the lips more voluminous. It can be applied either over lipstick or as a stand-alone product.
  4. Give preference to either glossy lipsticks or matte ones with a “velvet” effect: for example, Sephora Cream Lip Stain. In my opinion, among all the matte lipsticks, it is the only one whose texture makes the lips look fuller, and not vice versa.
  5. For those with thin lips and at the same time asymmetrical lips, it is better not to use dark shades of lipstick. Give preference to either natural shades or 2-3 shades darker than your natural lip color.
