How many mesotherapy sessions are needed for a good result?

Autumn has arrived, and during this period our skin requires increased attention. Therefore, now is the best time to restore your skin after summer, do vitamin treatments, nourishing and moisturizing masks.

The mesotherapy procedure is very popular in beauty salons. It allows you to improve the condition of your skin in a short period of time, making it vibrant, smooth and toned.

To do or not to do? Is there also biorevitalization, or maybe plasma lifting is better? There are always a lot of different questions about cosmetic procedures, the answers to which are not so easy to find, and not all of them are clear-cut. In this article, I tried to collect answers to the most important questions regarding this procedure.

Facial mesotherapy procedure: what is it and why is it needed?

These are so-called “beauty injections” aimed at improving the quality of the skin. Using a needle, nourishing cocktails are injected into the dermis to a depth of 4 mm (sometimes up to 13 mm), after which the skin looks moisturized, more elastic and fresh.

You can also tighten the shape of your face, improve skin color, treat acne - in each case, appropriate medications are selected.

These cocktails may contain vitamins, amino acids, enzymes, minerals, peptides, hyaluronic acid, and antioxidants. At the same time, the effect is achieved very quickly; after the first procedure you can observe the result.

“Rarely, little and in the right place” - this is the basic principle of mesotherapy, which was laid down by its creator, the French doctor Michel Pistor.

The classic procedure involves injecting drugs into the skin with a syringe and needle. As cosmetologist Amina Pirmanova says, no one can say for sure how a positive therapeutic effect is achieved. But if we analyze all existing theories, this happens due to two mechanisms:

  • The therapeutic effect of the administered drug.
  • Needlestick injury.

By piercing the skin, damage occurs in it - microtraumas. The body receives a signal from the nervous system and starts the recovery process, carried out through the blood and lymph with the help of hormones that enter the internal fluid environment of the body and regulate metabolism and provide restorative functions.

This is called neurohumoral regulation. This is what the therapeutic effect is based on.

What is better - mesotherapy or biorevitalization

Many people have a question, what is better to choose? And what is their difference? Here's what cosmetologist Amina says about this:

“Neurohumoral regulation, the action of which we discussed above, is the main mechanism. The effect of all other procedures is built on it. It’s just that each patented substance has its own patented names of procedures. For example, the term “biorevitalization” is associated with the drug ial-system (ial-system) - the name of this procedure was patented for it. And for the drug Hyalual (hyalual), containing hyaluronic acid, the name “redermalization” was patented. And this list can be continued endlessly, but essentially all this is mesotherapy.”

You can listen to the video of cosmetologist Amina here -

In mesotherapy, hyaluronic acid is used in lower concentrations and in a liquid state; amino acids, microelements, etc. are also added to the mesococktail. This hyaluronic acid retains moisture in the skin less and is most often used to prevent aging.

In biorevitalization, hyaluronic acid is used in higher concentrations and in gel form. This enhances skin hydration and can be used not only to prevent aging, but also to correct fine wrinkles.

You can see the mechanism of action of this procedure in the video:

Scope of the procedure

With the help of a course of mesotherapy, you can not only rejuvenate the skin of the face and body, but also get rid of a number of other blemishes. The procedure effectively combats:

  • stretch marks and cellulite;
  • wrinkles;
  • acne;
  • hair loss;
  • lax skin;
  • dark circles;
  • scars and scars;
  • fatty deposits;
  • pigmentation.

Indeed, mesotherapy can relieve a fairly large number of problems. However, it is worth considering the fact that if performed frequently, the following may occur:

  • bruises from injections,
  • tissue death,
  • allergic reaction.

Therefore, it is important to know how many facial mesotherapy procedures are needed and can be done.

What types of mesotherapy are there - is it possible to do without injections?

Today there are two main types of procedures. The main difference in the method of introducing the mesococktail into the skin:

1. Injection (classic)

How it is carried out.Flaws.Advantages.
Using a syringe with a needle, active substances are injected into the dermis through multiple punctures.1. Many contraindications.
2. Soreness.

3. Long rehabilitation period (redness, swelling, bruises from punctures).

1. Acts on the deep layers of the skin.

2. Maximum efficiency.

2. Non-injection (hardware)

How is it carried out?FlawsAdvantages
The device introduces active substances into the skin under high pressure. 1. High density solutions cannot be injected under the skin in this way.

2. Active substances do not penetrate the skin as deeply as through injections.

1. Non-traumatic.

2. Painless.

3. There is no rehabilitation period (the skin does not become inflamed as after injections).

Administration of active substances by the device using electric current (electroporation).
Introduction of active substances into the apparatus using a laser.No. The most effective method (allows you to inject the largest amount of the drug into the deep layers of the skin).
Introduction of active substances using a device with microneedles through micropunctures (fractional). Slight pain (produced with local anesthetic cream). 1. Acts as a peeling, renewing the surface layer of the skin.

2. Quick recovery period (the skin is inflamed during the day - redness and swelling are observed).

Of course, injection mesotherapy is superior to hardware methods in its effectiveness, but if you are afraid of injections and cannot tolerate pain, and you do not have time for rehabilitation (skin restoration after injections), then it is better to choose non-injection mesotherapy.

How does the procedure work (step by step)?

Many people are scared by the very word “mesotherapy”, because the use of injections is associated with painful sensations.

But this procedure is practically painless, so there is no need to worry. As a last resort, for patients who are afraid of pain, local anesthetics can be used.

Initially, the patient sits in a chair, then his head is treated with a special solution based on alcohol. Such manipulations will also help minimize pain.

To carry out the procedure, syringes with thin needles are used, which are injected a couple of millimeters. Next, small dosages of the product are delivered to the skin.

Mesotherapy fights hair loss, stimulates growth, and improves structure. After it, hairs become stronger and blood microcirculation improves. The doctor needs about 30-40 minutes to perform the injections.

During the session you may feel a burning sensation. In rare cases, there is minor pain that can be relieved with painkillers.

After mesotherapy you may feel discomfort. There were cases when people complained of bruising and redness. But such undesirable consequences disappear after a couple of days.

There are some contraindications that need to be taken into account.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

  1. there are problems with hair growth;
  2. itching is felt, dandruff is visible, ringworm is detected;
  3. severe hair loss, baldness appears;
  4. fragility has increased, dryness is present, split ends;
  5. Gray hair occurs early.

How many procedures in one course and how often to do them (frequency)

Depending on age, the number of procedures in one course differs. The younger the age, the smaller their number. At a young age, this procedure is carried out as a preventive measure, at an older age - as a therapy.

This is the frequency recommended by cosmetologists depending on age:

AgeNumber of sessions in the course
(every two weeks)
Number of courses per year
25-3012
30-3522
35-4032
40-50 (and above)42

In which areas of the face is hyaluronic acid serum with vitamins injected and how long do the traces remain?

During mesotherapy, punctures are made all over the face (if necessary on the neck and décolleté) at an equal distance of 3-4 cm in a checkerboard pattern. If there is a vascular network somewhere, punctures are made around it.

The period of skin restoration depends on how the mesococktail was administered - by injection with a syringe or by a non-injection device.

Syringe injections (classic)

Small bruises remain at the puncture sites. They completely go away within 5-10 days. There is also swelling of the tissues, which completely disappears in the first 3-5 days.

Hardware (fractional, laser, microcurrent, high pressure)

There is redness and slight swelling, which completely disappears within a day.

The woman’s age must also be taken into account. In women over 45-50 years old, the blood vessels are not as elastic as in early youth, so such skin is more prone to consequences in the form of bruises and redness from injections. The recovery period is longer than at a younger age.

What is it for?

Generally speaking, the main goal of mesotherapy is to improve the condition of the skin, eliminate various problems and prevent (slow down) the aging process. Among the main indications for the use of this technique are:

  • Presence of acne.
  • Age over 35 years.
  • Having a double chin.
  • Excessive work of the sebaceous glands - oily skin.
  • Spider veins - rosacea.
  • The presence of wrinkles, both facial and age-related.
  • Unclearness, vagueness and looseness of the oval.
  • Presence of pigmentation.
  • Preparation for facial surgery, laser resurfacing and various types of peeling.
  • Recovery after surgery, resurfacing and peeling.
  • Presence of post-acne spots.
  • Presence of enlarged pores.
  • Presence of scars.
  • Insufficient activity of the sebaceous glands - dry skin.
  • Unhealthy skin color. Quite often, mesotherapy is recommended specifically to improve complexion.

Properly selected mesotherapy cocktails will help cope with a variety of skin problems. A cosmetologist will help determine whether such a procedure is suitable in each specific case.

What mesotherapy drugs are the best and most effective?

To carry out the procedure, mono-cocktails are used (containing only one active substance - hyaluronic acid, gingko biloba extract, vitamin C, A, peptides, fruit acids...) and ready-made cocktails (a mixture of active substances aimed at correcting a specific deficiency).

Depending on the problem you want to solve, the cosmetologist selects a ready-made mixture for you.

Here are the main four groups of problems with which women usually turn to a cosmetologist:

Moisturizing, tone and elasticity

All ready-made mixtures are based on the main component - hyaluronic acid. And the higher its concentration, the better and more effective this drug is.

So, for the classical procedure its concentration is 5-15 mg/ml, for biorevitalization - above 15 mg/ml.

Oval lift

The second popular component of meso cocktails is DMAE (DiMethylAminoEthanol). This is a very strong antioxidant, which, like hyaluronic acid, is produced in the body and stimulates muscle contraction (including facial muscles).

As an active substance for mesotherapy, it increases muscle tone, deeply moisturizes, and protects against free radicals. It is most often used to work with the lower area of the face - as a result, the oval is significantly tightened and looks more elastic. It can even be used to reduce a double chin.

DMAE is a very effective tightening drug, but its disadvantage is pain.

Pigmentation

To eliminate dark spots on the skin, a cocktail of vitamin C, plant extracts with whitening properties, and fruit acids is used.

This effect is very effective, and in combination with other complementary procedures, it quickly and permanently eliminates age spots and evens out the color.

But due to the presence of acids in it, it is also painful.

Rejuvenation of the skin around the eyes

A drug containing hyaluronic acid and peptides is designed specifically to work with this area. It is aimed at eliminating the network of wrinkles, rejuvenating the upper and lower eyelids, and eliminating dark circles under the eyes.

The effectiveness of a particular drug, in addition to its composition, is also determined by the method of its administration under the skin. Classic mesotherapy using a syringe and a needle is considered the most effective for combating obvious age-related problems or skin imperfections.

It is very important to take into account the principle of the effects of mesococktails. There are two main types:

  • allopathic (they contain both herbal and synthetic components aimed at eliminating a particular skin problem)
  • homeopathic (consist only of herbal preparations that fight skin problems by activating the body’s own resources).

Allopathic meso-cocktails give results much faster than homeopathic ones. However, the latter eliminate not only the external problem, but also their cause, improving overall health. Consequently, the effect of homeopathic remedies takes longer to manifest. And a properly selected natural composition will not cause harm to health.

TOP 4 popular products

The most popular drugs for mesotherapy are:

  1. DMAE 1% or 3%. It provides a slight lift. The first option is used in the lower eyelids. It can be used to correct pronounced bags under the eyes.
  2. GLUTA (600, 1200). The drug provides a pronounced whitening effect. It is especially often used for age-related pigmentation of the hands.
  3. Vit S. Designed for the treatment of acne, whitening.
  4. Hyaluronic acid. Mesotherapy uses from 1% to 3.5%. It is used to correct fine wrinkles, moisturize, and have a slight whitening effect.

At what age is it better to do it?

Almost all cosmetologists recommend starting mesotherapy at the age of 25-26 to prevent aging and the earlier the better. But here’s what Tiina Orasmäe-Meder, cosmetologist and author of many books on facial care, says about this:

At this age, this is a fictional aging and a completely meaningless procedure. Until the age of 60, the level of hyaluronic acid is maintained by the body in the amount of 15 grams and it does not need more. This amount is enough for the joints, the eyeball, and the skin. If the skin becomes dry and wrinkled, this does not mean that it lacks acid. There can be many reasons for this, the most common are lack of water (i.e. a person drinks little clean water) and a violation of the barrier function of the skin (the skin loses moisture). In this case, it is simply recommended to increase the amount of pure water you drink to 1.5 liters (no more is needed, so as not to overload the kidneys)

You can listen to the video with Tiina Orasmäe-Meder here -

Therefore, it is up to you to decide whether you should start doing it at the age of 25 or not. To prevent aging at this age, it will be enough to limit exposure to the sun, use creams with SPF, eat a balanced diet, drink enough water, lead an active lifestyle, and also control stress levels (I wrote about how the stress hormone cortisol affects it in this article).

When age-related changes are more pronounced, it is recommended to use a restorative complex, which includes contouring, botulinum toxin injection and mesotherapy.

Indications and contraindications - what consequences (complications) may occur

Indications

  • Dry irritated skin.
  • Striae and scars.
  • Post-acne.
  • Hyperpigmentation.
  • Dull color.
  • The presence of facial wrinkles and deep age wrinkles on the forehead.

Contraindications

  • Allergic reactions to the components of the mesococktail (the cosmetologist must tell you about the full composition of the product).
  • Blood clotting disorders.
  • Malignant neoplasms.
  • Duration of at least 5 years after successful treatment of oncology.
  • Rosacea and rosacea.
  • Herpes.
  • Psoriasis.
  • Active and purulent inflammations.
  • Autoimmune skin diseases.
  • Pregnancy and lactation.
  • Chronic diseases in the acute stage.
  • Acute infectious diseases.
  • Tendency to form hypertrophic and keloid scars.
  • Psychosis.
  • Neuralgia of the ternary nerve in the acute stage.

In addition to the above, negative consequences and complications can be caused by other factors:

  • individual reaction to the drug, because most meso-cocktails contain combinations of active substances that are unusual for the body, and you never know in advance how it will react to them;
  • puncture in the wrong place (you can accidentally get into the vessel or severely injure the area, which will subsequently cause severe swelling or hematoma);
  • lack of experience of a cosmetologist in performing a particular procedure.

Contraindications

Mesotherapy should be abandoned in certain situations.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

  1. the woman is pregnant or lactation;
  2. there are infectious pathologies, an inflammatory process, chronic diseases have worsened;
  3. the person cannot tolerate the components included in the product;
  4. blood clotting is impaired;
  5. neoplasms, pathologies of blood vessels and the heart, cholelithiasis, and chronic renal failure were discovered.

Pros and cons of the procedure with reviews after 45, 50 and 60 years

pros

  • improves the condition of the skin (color, texture, tone) in a short period;
  • stimulates skin regeneration;
  • activates the production of your own collagen;
  • reduces the signs of aging and evens out the relief;
  • eliminates peeling and dryness;
  • doesn't take much time.

Minuses

  • painful procedure and the need for anesthesia;
  • risk of allergic reactions to injected drugs;
  • redness and swelling of the skin, hematomas at puncture sites.

Regarding pain relief, all textbooks indicate that classical mesotherapy should be carried out without anesthesia and here’s why:

1 - the mechanism is built on a pain impulse in order to start the regeneration process

2 - anesthesia spasms blood vessels and thereby reduces the positive effect.

What are the reviews of this procedure from women who have tried it?

Tatyana, age over 45 years

(Tatiana’s full review in the video is at the link -

)

I did fractional mesotherapy with a multi-needle device. The cosmetologist prescribed her a cocktail with vitamins and hyaluronic acid. Before starting, an anesthetic cream is applied to the face for 30 minutes, after which nothing is felt and all manipulations are painless. Punctures are made at 0.5 mm and this procedure can replace superficial and even medium peeling. Immediately after finishing, the skin was very irritated, red and swollen. This state lasted for about a day. The cosmetologist made an excellent soothing mask, the so-called “cosmetic skin” based on hyaluronic acid with peptides, which relieved irritation. By the end of the day there was a feeling of tightness, but in the morning everything went away. I liked the painlessness and quick recovery period - just a day and my skin glows with beauty and freshness, elastic and toned.

Tatyana, over 60 years old

(Tatiana’s full review in the video -

)

I did a non-injection procedure because I am afraid of injections. The introduction of the nutrient solution was carried out using current pulses, it was not painful, but discomfort was still observed - in some places a tingling sensation was felt from the current. After the session, the cosmetologist made a very pleasant soothing mask for 15 minutes and cryomassage with a device with a special attachment. There were no traces of punctures, and there was absolutely no swelling. A very pleasant feeling of tightness and freshness.

Elena, over 50 years old

(full review from Elena -

)

Elena turned to a cosmetologist with the problem of very dry skin. The doctor, using a device for biometric examination of the skin, checked the condition of the skin - sebum secretion, acid-base status, and measured elasticity. As a result, we came to the conclusion that Elena’s skin was not sufficiently moisturized, but was oily and had a normal PH level. Since Elena is 52 years old, the cosmetologist offered her an injection procedure for a better effect, but the woman chose a more gentle method - the Jet Peel device, it leaves no traces and at the same time allows the introduction of a moisturizer deeply enough (under high pressure with a jet of oxygen and small droplets of saline ). A course of 3-4 sessions was recommended once a week. Elena found the procedure very pleasant and comfortable, painless, the skin was moisturized and the feeling of tightness went away.

Doctors' opinions on video: pros and cons

I really liked the unbiased opinion about injection cosmetology from doctor Igor Patrin. In his video, he talks about the main risks of such procedures, and in what cases to do them, and when it is better to refuse:

When is the result visible and how long does the effect last - before and after photos

The speed of obtaining a positive result depends on the composition of the drug and the condition of the skin. You can see the effect immediately after the first full course, the number of sessions in which is prescribed by a cosmetologist depending on the problem and age.

In order for the result after the procedure to be sustainable, it is necessary to maintain it. To do this, it is enough to do the full course 2 times a year.

This is what the result looks like after using a vitamin saline solution on young skin.

Therapy of the lower part of the face for the purpose of tightening the oval shape in adulthood over 40.

Reducing acne and pores on young skin - before and after.

This is what the skin looks like before and after removing age spots.

Result in reducing skin oiliness after the procedure.

Who should consider the procedure?

What is mesotherapy and what does it give? This question has arisen for many women.

Mesotherapy is allowed at different ages. With its help, young girls can improve their skin tone and reduce acne.

If a woman is about 30 years old, then the procedure will help moisturize the skin, improve tone, get rid of unevenness, and eliminate wrinkles. Mesotherapy is becoming a preventative measure against aging.

If there are deep wrinkles on the skin, the procedure will not help to completely get rid of them, it will only reduce them. In addition, with the help of mesotherapy you can improve the shape of your face even in adulthood.

People often think that mesotherapy is the injection of hyaluronic acid under the skin. But this procedure is called biorevitalization. And for mesotherapy they use whole cocktails. In addition to hyaluron, the preparations also contain other components.

Plastic surgeon Dhaval Patel

This rejuvenation is recommended for specific indications.

INDICATIONS

  • there are deep wrinkles;
  • you need to correct the oval of your face;
  • there are acne, scars, strong pigmentation, stretch marks that appear after a sharp weight loss or pregnancy;
  • the patient suffers from rosacea, cellulite;
  • hair fall out;
  • it is necessary to shorten the rehabilitation period after plastic surgery or various procedures.

What is facial mesotherapy with peptides and its effectiveness

The main material of all tissues is protein. Protein is a substance consisting of amino acids that are connected in a chain by peptide bonds.

There are several types of peptides. Each group of peptides transmits a specific signal to the body, thereby triggering its own mechanism of action:

  • Signal peptides (Matrixyl, Aldenine) - accelerate the process of cell renewal.
  • Remodeling peptides - work with collagen fibers, increasing skin elasticity.
  • Stimulating peptides (Serilisin, Sin-Orage) - aimed at accelerating collagen synthesis, as well as restoring the basal layer (the epidermis rests on it).
  • Relaxing peptides (Agrirelin, Leufasil) - they block muscle contraction, similar to Botox injections.
  • Immune peptides (Bodyfensin, Regin) - increase the immunity of the skin.
  • Others (stabilizing, opioid, etc.).

Depending on the existing problem, a meso-cocktail is prescribed, which usually includes hyaluronic acid and a certain type of peptide. And if the acid dissolves over time, then the peptides, working with skin cells, act as a “building material”, i.e. after one full course of mesotherapy you get practically new skin.

Today, cosmetics with peptides are the most effective for maintaining the beauty and youth of the skin, displacing all others.

There is no information anywhere about the dangers of peptides; on the contrary, there are continuous positive reviews and recommendations from clients. But this does not mean that they can be completely trusted. After all, they appeared on the market not so long ago, and their effect on health in general has not been fully studied.

Can it be done after Botox, chemical peeling or other procedures?

Botox

After Botox injections, any manipulations with the skin that increase blood circulation are not recommended.

Only after Botox reaches its maximum effect, and this happens after 3 weeks, can mesotherapy be done.

If you have not done anything yet, but want to do both of these procedures, it is better to do meso first, then 2 weeks later Botox injections.

Chemical peeling

You can conduct 2-3 sessions 3-4 days before medium or deep peeling to prevent scarring.

When the peeling after peeling goes away, this procedure is even recommended to speed up epithelization and eliminate redness.

Other cosmetic procedures

On the day of the session, as well as 2-3 days after it, it is not recommended to do anything else, otherwise the elimination of the drug will accelerate.

How to behave after mesotherapy

After rejuvenating sessions, certain restrictions must be observed to help avoid complications.

  1. It is not recommended to touch your face with your hands on the first day after the procedure;
  2. For several days it is forbidden to be in the sun and visit the solarium, sauna, bathhouse;
  3. You should not use cosmetics or peel to avoid causing skin irritation and preventing infection;
  4. It is recommended to give up sports and massage for a while;
  5. Before going outside, you must apply a protective cream to your skin against ultraviolet rays or wear closed clothing.

Mesotherapy can be a successful alternative to plastic surgery, provided that all manipulations are performed by a qualified specialist and aseptic rules are followed. You can get a long-lasting rejuvenating effect and avoid serious complications if you prepare for the procedure in advance and exclude possible contraindications.
