A healthy and beautiful appearance is everyday hard work. With the advent of mesotherapy, maintaining youth and beauty has become much easier. There are several techniques for carrying it out, one of which is manual, which involves inserting a syringe with a medicinal composition directly onto the problem area. Based on this, there was a need to purchase special needles for such therapy.
There are a large number of manufacturers and brands of cosmetic needles, but first, let's look at their main types based on classification.
Classification of needles
So, what kind of needles can be used for mesotherapy? After all, not everyone can be suitable for a certain manipulation. Needles for such a cosmetic procedure are distinguished by diameter. The diameter is indicated on the packaging. It is designated by the English letter “G”. There are three main sizes most often used in cosmetology. This:
- 0.3 mm, marked on the package as 30G. Such needles can be used for mesotherapy of the head and face.
- 0.23 mm – marking 32G. In addition to the face and body, they can be used for fractional mesotherapy.
- 0.4 mm – marking 27G. Also suitable for scalp, hair and body.
It is worth noting that the thinnest needle used during the mesoprocedure is a tool with a diameter of 0.2 mm from the Mesoram company (shown in the photo below). Its length can be 4mm, 6mm and 12–13mm.
There is also a Sit needle in cosmetology. Its length is 2 mm and its diameter is 0.26 mm. This tool makes the procedure less painful. But the presence of a persistent pad does not allow it to get into small wrinkles or scars.
Which needle to choose
There are no “best options” because the best option is what suits the purpose in a given case . It is clear that the size and diameter of the needle depend primarily on:
- injection purposes: skin (different levels), subcutaneous tissue, muscles, veins, nerve blockade, intra-articular injection, puncture, etc.
- viscosity and density of the administered drug,
- injection techniques (for example, the “nappage” mesotherapy injection technique can be performed in at least 4 different ways - the choice of needle length and diameter depends on this).
Collecting blood into a test tube using a butterfly needle
Accordingly, the same rule applies to cannulas and specialized needles (for example, “butterflies”, which I use for plasma lifting).
- The deeper/further you need to penetrate, the longer the needle/cannula should be. This, of course, also applies to “one-puncture” techniques when injecting fillers.
- The denser the preparation, the wider the diameter should be.
- It should be remembered that the thicker the needle, the more pain the patient will experience .
However, even if we do not take into account the patient’s comfort, choosing a thicker needle is not always a universal solution for the reason that, if we talk about mesotherapy or trichology, the liquid preparation will leak between injections. Just like a denser one - you cannot physically push it through a thin needle.
For reference:
- longest needle: 120 mm B.Braun Sterican needle 21G (0.8 x 120 mm)
- the thinnest and shortest needle: MESORAM Microinjection needle 33G (0.20 x 4)
Syringe selection
Most cosmetologists prefer to work with three-component syringes with a rubber O-ring on the piston. This allows the injection to be carried out evenly and smoothly. Selecting a syringe from 1 to 2.5 mm allows you to work with viscous substances. In mesotherapy, they mainly work with 5-10 mm syringes.

Needle Basics
Depending on the type of age-related changes and skin defects, mesotherapy preparations are injected under the surface of the epidermis to a depth of 2 to 4 millimeters.
Manipulation involves the use of special syringes with a fairly diverse assortment.
The correct choice of needle diameter and length will ensure minimal damage to the patient’s skin tissue with a decrease in the level of pain of the procedure and the possibility of refusing anesthesia.
The needles for the technique are disposable and sterile. They include metal, plastic, and connecting parts.
The metal needle is made from special high-quality medical steel. It is equipped with 2 ends, one of which is located at the correct angle, and the second is embedded in a plastic case.
The plastic tip is made of polypropylene. The connection of the needle to the plastic body is made using a special glue with a special composition.
Popular manufacturers
The most popular producing countries are:
- Bog Mark (Poland) (shown in the photo below).
- Mesoram (Italy) – has a wide range of products. It produces 0.2 mm needles from Japanese durable steel (shown in the photo below).
- Kumura (Japan) – are distinguished by a unique sharpening that makes the procedure less traumatic.
- Microlance (Italy) – from this manufacturer you can buy needles from 27 to 32 G. Suitable for getting rid of wrinkles, crow’s feet, and for highlighting the contour of the lips (shown in the photo below).
Syringes/Syringes
Syringe for mesotherapy: what is it and what should it be like?
Currently, there is a large selection of syringes and needles for carrying out anti-aging procedures. All of them may differ in shape, diameter, length and volume of the flask for collecting the administered drug. A syringe for mesotherapy is a medical instrument into which the necessary substance is drawn for the procedure. Using a needle, the product is injected under the skin to the required distance, as a result of which it promotes skin rejuvenation, tightening and elasticity of the face, head and other parts of the body. A syringe for mesotherapy can be disposable or reusable; more often, the needles are coated with a special silicone coating to protect the skin from injury and make the cosmetic procedure painless.
Types of syringes for mesotherapy.
A syringe for head mesotherapy can also vary in size, diameter, shape, color and amount of substance contained. For the head, those models that have a needle diameter of 0.3-0.4 mm are often used. The smaller the syringe needle, the more painless the procedure. They can be reusable or disposable, coated with a special base, usually silicone, for less trauma to the scalp. A syringe for facial mesotherapy is used with a small needle diameter, the size of which ranges from 0.2 to 0.23 mm. These syringes have completely different colors, sizes, lengths and capacities of cosmetic special substances. They can also be disposable or reusable. Due to the small diameter, the injections are almost painless.
Characteristics of syringes for mesotherapy
They have a special structure and differ significantly from conventional medical syringes in diameter, size, length, shape, as well as the volume of the special substance injected. The length of the mesotherapy needle can reach 14 mm depending on the area of skin that requires the procedure. The volume of syringes is up to 10 ml, the most common and frequently used are 3, 5 and 10 ml. This syringe has a flexible and long piston, which is necessary for introducing gel and semi-liquid substances into the skin. When choosing a syringe, you must make sure of its quality: the piston must move smoothly, ensuring easy administration of the drug. Otherwise, the specialist will not be able to correctly and evenly distribute the product during injection, which may cause side effects from the procedure.
Needle-free therapy
In addition to the standard procedure using injections, there is, for example, a procedure such as facial mesotherapy without the use of a needle. To do this, you just need to purchase a mesoscooter - this is a special massager that allows you to carry out a mesoprocedure, for example, at home.
Among the large number of devices, two of the most popular stand out: among them is a set for facial mesotherapy without using a needle of the Gezatone m9900 brand (shown in the photo below) and the m9910 device.

You can buy this product both in Ukraine and in Russia, in a pharmacy or on the Internet.
What determines the choice of needle diameter?
The needle diameter for the procedure is selected depending on the degree of density of the selected drug. In order to introduce highly viscous compounds, such as hyaluronic acid, needles with a large diameter are selected, since thin ones will not be able to pass through substances with a high density.
Needles with the smallest diameter are used to administer meso-cocktails containing vitamins and minerals.
The needle length indicator is displayed on the packaging container
Post-care
If the procedure is carried out correctly, there is no need for a recovery period - already on the second day the condition of the scalp returns to normal. Cosmetologists do not recommend visiting a bathhouse, sauna, washing your hair, or using styling or care products for 3 days after injections.
If swelling has formed, it goes away on its own within 1-2 days. To speed up the process of their resorption, you can use cold compresses - a napkin or gauze is moistened in cool water and applied to the skin for 10 minutes every 2-3 hours. This procedure is not carried out with ice water, because it leads to a sharp narrowing of blood vessels and worsening, slowing down blood flow - mesotherapy simply will not be effective.
3 days after the procedure, you can wash your hair, but using a gentle method:
- avoid too hot water;
- use shampoos with a mild formula;
- Avoid using soap and vinegar as a rinse aid;
- apply masks and balms to soften hair.
Since mesotherapy is aimed at treating hair, until its appearance is completely restored, you should not use foams, varnishes and other styling products, as well as curlers, curling irons, and flat irons.
If you feel pain or itching when you touch the scalp, then these problems can be solved with the help of decoctions of medicinal plants. For example, a remedy made from chamomile flowers will be effective - 1 tablespoon of plant material is poured into 300 ml of water and boiled in a water bath for 10 minutes. Then the broth is cooled, filtered and used for lotions and compresses.

How to do fractional skin treatment
Mesotherapy performed by the fractional method is a procedure during which a laser beam is used. The manipulation is absolutely painless and has several advantages over the classic injection:
- the beam delivers a preparation of vitamins, microelements and nutrients directly to the hair follicles and acts locally;
- the selected meso-cocktail is “introduced” into the superficial or deep layers of the dermis under high pressure, which means its effect will be more powerful;
- an additional “bonus” is the saturation of the follicles with oxygen, which significantly accelerates both metabolic, regenerative, and rejuvenating processes.
Fractional mesotherapy of the scalp is carried out without the use of anesthetics, but this is acceptable if the patient has an excessively low pain threshold or increased sensitivity of the skin.
The use of a laser beam minimizes the list of contraindications for performing such a procedure on the head . These will include:
- tumors of a malignant or benign nature located in the head;
- autoimmune diseases that occur in severe form;
- exacerbation of any chronic pathology of internal organs;
- fever, general deterioration in health, seasonal diseases such as acute respiratory viral infections, influenza.
After fractional mesotherapy, no rehabilitation period is required; on the 2nd day after the procedure, you can carry out your usual hair care, including washing it, curling it with curlers, and doing complex hairstyles.

Insulin needles
The administration of insulin differs from the administration of other medications - it is injected subcutaneously. For painless administration of the drug, the contour of the microfine rod consists of three sides. The cylinder of pen syringes is made in an elongated shape - this makes it convenient to use and store.
For such pen syringes, 5 mm microfine needles made of high-quality surgical steel are used. Microfine refills are intended for one-time use. Microfine products are suitable for pen syringes of various modifications and manufactures.
Important! The use of pen syringes is very convenient for diabetics and has solved many problems with painless puncture.
Equipment required for the procedure
Syringes
The choice of this device depends on the drug administered, its quantity, the skill of the cosmetologist, and his habits.
You should pay attention to:
- smooth movement of the piston (the best choice is a three-component syringe, it is the smoothest);
- division scale, volume (mostly 1 milliliter);
- fastening (the most durable is a “lock”).
There are also syringes with a fixed needle, ideal for head injections.
Cost - sets of 10 pieces can be found for 150-500 rubles.
Needles
The correct selection of this instrument is the key to a less traumatic and painless procedure. The length of the needle for scalp mesotherapy will differ from the needle for facial mesotherapy. It, in turn, will differ from the needle for body mesotherapy.
Its thickness depends on the drug administered. For more viscous meso-cocktails, a much greater thickness is required.
The price varies from 10 to 300 rubles per needle.
Mesoinjector (gun)
This is an electronic drug for mesotherapy. It greatly facilitates the cosmetologist’s work, speeds up the entire process, and controls the depth of drug administration. Using a gun makes it much easier to treat large areas of the body.
The mesoinjector is very expensive. Cost from 30,000 to 100,000 rubles.
Video clip
It is used mainly at home (step-by-step instructions for performing mesotherapy at home and a description of the procedure techniques can be found here). It is a roller with many steel needles that penetrate 0.5 millimeters under the skin.
Due to this, the skin itself begins to produce elastin and collagen. Also, after the procedure, creams are better absorbed. Mainly produced in China. It has a very low price from 300 to 1500 rubles.
