Types of hydromassage
In medicine and cosmetology, various types of hydromassage are used depending on the patient’s condition that needs correction. Underwater shower massage is often used for diseases of the musculoskeletal system, and Charcot shower for obesity and cellulite.
Underwater shower massage
It is used to reduce excess weight, correct the excitability of the nervous system, eliminate edema, and treat the consequences of injuries. A person is immersed in a bath with a water temperature of 37 ° C, then alternated with colder water.
To get results, you need to go through 20–25 sessions of such dives. Water stimulates blood circulation, improves tissue nutrition, and accelerates their regeneration.
Shower massage
This type of therapy is used for injuries of the musculoskeletal system. Can be used after plaster removal. The skin around the injured area is massaged for several days and only then the bruise site. Movements should be light and vibrating. Soft tissues are kneaded for 15 minutes.
Shower massage is also used in cosmetology to combat cellulite, improve skin tone, and improve body contour.
Whirling underwater hydromassage
This procedure takes place in a bath where special vortex flows are created. They improve blood circulation, metabolism, relax, and relieve stress. The benefits of hydromassage in a swimming pool are also significant. The duration of the procedure is up to half an hour.
Sharko's shower
It is used only after a doctor's prescription. From a distance of 3 m, the patient is sprayed with a powerful stream of contrasting temperature. The impact starts from the feet. This hydromassage improves blood circulation and metabolism. Experts note the effectiveness and benefits of hydromassage for weight loss. An improvement in the body's condition is observed with high physical activity. May harm people with venous insufficiency.
Important! Massaging with a Charcot shower is harmful for more than 15 minutes.
A Charcot shower can be a fan shower, when water is sprayed using a special nozzle, or a Scottish shower, which is an alternation of jets of different temperatures.
What are the benefits of water massage?
In a number of physiotherapeutic procedures, water massage is in second place after manual massage. It is almost as effective, and the healing effects of water are added to the benefits of physical pressure. Pain, fatigue, and tension are felt much less in water.
Hydrotherapy procedures are indicated for decreased immunity, injuries, diseases of the musculoskeletal system, nervous, sexual disorders, gastrointestinal diseases, circulatory disorders, and obesity.
When immersed in a bath, a person is in an environment that itself supports him. The condition is a bit like weightlessness. Due to this, the body's own weight decreases, and the pressure on the muscles, joints, and spine decreases.
Even just being in the water can relieve pain and reduce discomfort, and taking into account the pressure of the jets from the nozzles and improved blood circulation, the effect is enhanced.
Expert commentary on the benefits of hydromassage:
Therapeutic and prophylactic properties
A person feels the benefits of hydromassage already during its implementation. The main thing is to choose the right type of massage, the intensity of the water and air jets, and influence the desired areas of the body. Powerful streams of water stimulate blood and lymph flow. Pleasant warmth relaxes.
The pores of the skin open, and impurities are washed out of them that cannot be removed with regular bathing - remnants of sebum, cosmetics, sweat, dust.
Hydromassage is perfect for people with problem skin, because... improves its condition, deeply cleanses without the use of special products. After the physiotherapy, the skin becomes cleaner and healthier.
The healing effects of water and air jets are enhanced by the effect of chromotherapy. In addition to aesthetic pleasure, it has a tangible effect on a person’s physical condition. Treatment with color has a beneficial effect on the state of the nervous system and gastrointestinal tract.
Chromotherapy affects the iris of the eye, models neural signals and promotes the production of certain hormones, bioactive substances, and stimulation of photochemical processes. The effect of chromotherapy is widely used in SPA salons
Treatment of the spine and joints
A variety of water procedures are used to treat diseases of the spine and joints. Their benefit lies in the ability of water to relieve stress from diseased organs. By connecting to a massage with water-air jets, a person receives double benefits: his condition is alleviated, pain goes away, and due to stimulation of blood flow, motor functions improve.
Doctors note the effectiveness of hydromassage for spinal hernia, a disease that gives people a lot of unpleasant sensations. A pinched nerve root causes severe pain. To release it, various types of spinal traction are used.
The same can be achieved with water massage. It gives better results, and the procedure itself is much more enjoyable.
During a water massage, the striated muscles relax, causing spasms to subside. The walls of blood vessels expand, blood circulation is stimulated, the functioning of venous valves improves, and tissues are saturated with oxygen. This helps to alleviate the condition of a patient with an intervertebral hernia.
Hydromassage cannot cure the disease itself, but it reduces the load on the diseased intervertebral disc and inhibits its further destruction.
Water procedures help relieve inflammation, and this in turn relieves pain and reduces swelling. Natural regenerative processes are accelerated.
For intervertebral hernia, hydromassage is used in courses of treatment without surgery. It can become an indispensable assistant, but only a doctor should select the type of procedures
Positive effects on the nervous system
Hydrotherapy has long been used for diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system. It gives good results in eliminating the consequences of spinal cord injuries, neuritis, radiculitis, and neurocirculatory dystonia.
An ordinary hydromassage bath cannot replace a doctor, but it can be a good aid in the treatment of many diseases.
Relaxing in warm water under powerful jets, a person experiences bliss, endorphins enter the blood. This is an effective way to combat stress, chronic fatigue, nervousness, and irritability. The languor that people experience after a massage helps them fall asleep soundly.
If you supplement hydromassage with chromotherapy and aromatherapy, you can achieve considerable results in the fight against fatigue, sleep disorders, mental and physical stress
Hydrotherapy in body contouring programs
Intense stimulation of blood circulation helps remove excess fluid from the body. Thanks to this, hydromassage helps relieve swelling and cleanse you of toxins and waste. Such properties of hydrotherapy are valuable for people with excess weight and cosmetic problems.
Losing weight, getting rid of toxins and cosmetic problems, a person simultaneously experiences very pleasant sensations. This made hydromassage extremely popular in salons and clinics; it was included in many programs for weight loss, figure correction, and skin care.
Water massage is even credited with a rejuvenating effect. It is achieved by restoring the water balance of the skin. Natural hydration helps improve its condition
Various types of massages are widely used to combat cellulite. When the body is exposed to powerful jets of water, fats are broken down and muscle tone improves. This helps to shape the figure and remove the “orange peel” on the hips, buttocks, and stomach.
Hydromassage kneads the tubercles of cellulite, “breaks” them and smoothes the skin. At the same time, weight is reduced and the figure is corrected.
Water massage is much more pleasant than classic anti-cellulite massage; its effect is deeper, but at the same time very gentle. In many programs for getting rid of cellulite, it has replaced cupping procedures. A specialist will tell you in more detail:
The healing properties of hydromassage
Hydromassage was first used in the twentieth century to restore patients after injuries. Doctors noted its benefits: in patients who took such baths, swelling went away faster, sleep normalized, and the condition of the skin improved. The beneficial properties of hydromassage have made it one of the most popular therapeutic hydro procedures. It is used in complex therapy of many chronic diseases.
Its beneficial properties include:
- relieving muscle spasms, restoring motor function;
- restoration of mobility of injured joints;
- promotes healing of torn ligaments and fractures;
- improving metabolism and digestive function, stimulating blood circulation;
- promotes weight loss, reduces the appearance of cellulite.
After a hydromassage session, you will experience a surge of strength and energy, and your sleep will improve. Using weight loss diets in combination with hydro treatments, you can get rid of inevitable sagging skin and improve its condition.

Important contraindications
Despite the many positive aspects of hydromassage, it has some contraindications:
- Acute form of inflammatory diseases, accompanied by elevated body temperature;
- Fungal, bacterial and viral infectious diseases;
- Violation of the integrity of the skin - cuts, burns, trophic ulcers;
- Sexually transmitted diseases and tuberculosis in the active phase;
- Conditions after acute circulatory disorders - stroke, heart attack;
- Pregnancy, especially in the 2nd half;
- Presence of a functioning pacemaker;
- Neoplasms of various etiologies;
- Bleeding, as well as an increased tendency to it;
- Impaired functioning of the kidneys and urinary system;
- Aneurysm of blood vessels, arteries, aorta.
Important! A humid environment promotes the growth of fungi and bacteria, so it is necessary to thoroughly rinse the nozzles, as well as the bath bowl, with disinfectants at the end of each procedure.
Hydromassage brings positive emotions, pleasure, and gives a charge of vigor into our lives. This type of therapy is now available to almost everyone, there are few restrictions on its use, and it causes virtually no side effects. Water therapy makes us more resistant to external manifestations of the environment and takes care of our health. Trust the power of water, and in return it will give you strength to live.
Hydromassage against cellulite
To combat cellulite, use hydromassage baths that can release fairly powerful vortex currents. At the beginning of the dive, a person simply relaxes in warm water. After a few minutes, the impact of water flows on problem areas begins. Mainly thighs, buttocks, legs.
The main beneficial property of this effect is the absence of pain and bruising as with manual massaging. The second beneficial property is complete relaxation and relieving fatigue.
Structure of the structure
A hydromassage bathtub consists of a bowl and mechanical nozzles, thanks to which the massage is carried out. It differs from a regular bathtub in the depth and capacity of the water. The nozzles are located on the bathtub in the area of the “most problematic” places on the body: stomach, sides, hips.
There are two main types of hydromassage: bubble and jet. Bubble massage relaxes muscles, relieves tension, and eliminates fatigue. If an underwater shower massage is performed with elastic jets, this accelerates the blood flow and invigorates the person. In some baths, the jet strength is adjustable.
It is worth noting that before they hit store shelves, bathtubs are tested. After this, each product is issued a personal quality certificate and guarantee.
After the procedure, the bath needs to be treated with a disinfectant solution. However, is it worth doing hydromassage? Or is this just another gimmick that promises to burn fat? Let's look at it below.
The benefits of hydromassage for children
Water diving is prescribed to children for various developmental pathologies and injuries:
- neuralgia;
- joint dislocations;
- rachiocampsis;
- decreased muscle tone;
- diseases of the nervous system and gastrointestinal tract.
It is useful to have a hydromassage session 3 months after birth, earlier it is harmful. The decision to use hydrotherapy is made by the attending pediatrician. Only he can evaluate the benefits of hydromassage for a child’s health.
Treatment is carried out in medical institutions under the supervision of relevant specialists if the child has injuries or pathologies. At home, water massage can be performed on any healthy child for a few minutes a day. Hydromassage has a relaxing and calming effect on his nervous system and improves sleep. Such hydrotherapy sessions will not cause harm.
Hot tubs
The bath provides a comprehensive effect on the body thanks to its thoughtful design. It has a system of nozzles located in strictly defined places. Typically, two of them are allocated for the legs, one for the back, and two more for the abdomen and hips. However, depending on the price category and the manufacturer, the configuration can be very diverse.
The basic principles of hydromassage must be observed regardless of the design of the product. Jets of water go from the periphery to the center of the body. It is important that the stream goes tangentially and does not cut into the skin, tormenting its delicate surface. Nozzles for different parts of the body have different designs. It depends on the sensitivity of the area being affected.
Hydromassage is based on the principle of influencing a person with a mixed flow of air and water. In hot tubs, a stream of pressurized water is ejected from one or more jets. Modern hydromassage baths provide the ability to use nozzles and special regulators to change the direction of flow and pressure of air or water.
Hydromassage in the bath is recommended for people with diseases of the musculoskeletal system, such as arthritis, arthrosis, osteochondrosis. The hydromassage procedure improves blood circulation in problem areas, reduces pain, and restores mobility to the joints and spine. In the acute phase of the disease, too intense a massage can be harmful, so it is advisable that the bathtub be equipped with an air flow regulator. Then you can individually adjust the intensity of the hydromassage.
Procedures in a hydromassage bath are often prescribed to children with neuroses and other disorders of the nervous system. The relaxing and calming effect is noticeable after the first procedure. This is the most pleasant type of treatment for nervous disorders. Even the most restless children enjoy bathing in pearl bubbles.
Usually in medical institutions, hydromassage in a bath is called pearl massage due to the resemblance of the bubbles to pearls. The bubbling of water and air bubbles in a hot tub enhances the effect of cosmetic and aromatic substances on the skin and the entire body. For example, by adding pine extract to a massage bath, you get both an excellent cosmetic effect and a relaxing procedure for the nervous system.
A few minutes a day in a hot tub will normalize your metabolism and relieve stress and muscle tension. Depending on the temperature of the water, the intensity of the massage, and aromatic additives, hydromassage has either a tonic or a relaxing effect. A hydromassage bath is the best remedy for insomnia; it will relax you and prepare you for sleep better than many sedatives, and most importantly, without side effects.
Bathing in a hydromassage bath helps with reduced immunity, impotence, poor circulation, obesity and other disorders, as well as for the prevention of many diseases. A hot tub helps cleanse your skin better than a regular shower or bath. This is especially important for people with problematic, oily skin prone to clogged pores and the formation of comedones and pimples.
A hydromassage bath is an active assistant in the fight against cellulite. Intensive massage aimed at problem areas breaks down fats in the deep layers of the skin and removes orange peel on the thighs and buttocks. Women who have tried anti-cellulite cupping massage know how painful this procedure is, leaving behind bruises and swelling. Hydromassage acts more deeply, but gently. More effective effect and a lot of fun.
Bathing in a hot tub helps with a herniated disc. Pinched nerve endings cause pain. And water procedures relax muscles, improve blood circulation, relieve pain spasms and swelling of surrounding tissues. Water procedures, especially hydromassage, reduce the load on the damaged area of the spine and prevent its destruction, launching recovery processes.
In case of treatment of intervertebral hernia using hydromassage, consultation with a doctor is necessary. Sometimes massage may be contraindicated and surgery cannot be avoided. But often, with mild to moderate pain, a hydromassage bath can save you from surgery and significantly improve the patient’s condition.
There are a number of temporary and permanent contraindications to taking hydromassage baths: acute form of the disease, including diseases with high temperature; thrombophlebitis, since exposure to a jet of water can cause a blood clot to break off; in case of cardiovascular diseases, baths are possible only on the recommendation of a doctor with strict adherence to temperature mode, exposure time and strength of massage jets;

What are the benefits of foot hydromassage?
All the heaviness and burden of the working day falls on the feet. By evening they tend to swell and hurt. Hydromassage can be an effective and useful treatment for foot diseases. Its beneficial, relaxing properties relieve fatigue and are effective for lovers of high heels.
By influencing biologically active points on the feet, massaging with water heals not only the feet, but also the internal organs, and strengthens the immune system. At home, useful spa treatments for feet are done using a hydromassage bath, which definitely won’t cause any harm. It is important to read the instructions before using the device to avoid causing harm to yourself.
By acting on the legs, jets of water relax ligaments and muscles and relieve pain. After 20 minutes, swelling disappears, blood and lymph circulation improves. The walls of blood vessels become stronger, fatigue disappears.
Indications for hydromassage
Treatment and massage with water is beneficial in the treatment of chronic diseases. These may be pathologies of internal organs and cosmetic defects.
Hydromassage is useful for the following problems:
- nervous system disorders;
- chronic fatigue syndrome;
- swelling of the extremities and post-traumatic edema;
- muscle weakness and sagging skin;
- dysfunction of internal organs, in particular the intestines;
- intoxication of the body
- heavy physical activity;
- early or complicated menopause.
It is used as an additional remedy for people with musculoskeletal disorders. The calming and relaxing properties of warm water are used to treat insomnia and increase the body's resistance to stress. It is necessary to take into account that the benefits and harms of hydromassage baths in each individual case can only be assessed by the attending physician. In case of serious illnesses, it is important not to cause harm.
Price
The cost of the procedure varies. The price of a subscription for 10 visits can vary significantly - from several hundred to several thousand rubles. In salons the cost is higher than in medical institutions.
Underwater shower massage has indications and contraindications and can cause irreparable harm to individual patients. The decision on the advisability of physiotherapy is made by the doctor. If there are no contraindications, then even the first sessions of hydromassage will give you healing sensations. Water is a salvation from physical illness, fatigue, and stress.
Features and rules of the procedure
A hydromassage session is carried out in a special bath. The person takes a comfortable, physiological position. Small streams of liquid affect every centimeter of the body from the nozzles. They are located on the bottom and walls of the container.
To enhance the benefits, add sea salt and essential oils. The lower part of the body is under the direct influence of water jets. For maximum effect, adjust the temperature and water pressure.
We recommend reading: What are the benefits of hydrogen sulfide baths and how to take them
To benefit, you must follow the following rules:
- The water temperature should remain between 35–38 °C.
- The session should not last more than 20 minutes, it is harmful.
- The pressure is selected according to the injury.
- The jet should affect the skin tangentially, and not directly.
Strong pressure is used when massaging the limbs, and weaker pressure is used when working with the torso.
Important! Hydromassage of the heart, genitals, and mammary glands is not recommended.
How does the procedure work?
Most often, sessions are performed in health-improving medical institutions, since a bath of significant volume is required. Unlike conventional hydromassage, a person is not immersed directly in the water, does not come into contact with the water, but lies on an elastic membrane, which, under the weight of the body, is immersed in the bath, taking its shape. This creates the effect of a state of weightlessness and has a calming, relaxing effect.
A non-contact hydromassage bath can be taken simultaneously with various SPA procedures (wraps, mud therapy, peelings, applications, etc.). This increases their performance and provides a number of advantages:
- the warm surface of the membrane eliminates the need to use a thermal blanket.
- time is saved - procedures go faster than if they were performed one after another.
- the ability to select the appropriate temperature, water jet pressure, massage mode and zone makes the procedure as comfortable as possible.
Since during the sessions there is no contact of the body with the surface of the water, it is necessary to change the water in the bathroom only once every 2 years.
Hydromassage, performed using a non-contact method, can be performed either independently or as part of a number of other wellness measures.
What is a foot spa? This is a plastic container of a certain shape, equipped with:
- a device for heating water and monitoring the maintenance of its comfortable temperature;
- built-in pump;
- an aerator, the function of which is to saturate the water with air;
- nozzles located at the bottom of the bath and supplying water.
Some hydromassage baths, the benefits and harms of which are of concern to people concerned about their health, are equipped with additional nozzles, which expands the range of their capabilities.
An important factor is the power of the bath. The higher its indicator, the better the water heater will maintain the required temperature. The lid of the bath should reliably protect against splashes so that after the procedure there is no need to clean up.
There are a few things to consider when purchasing a hot tub: The buttons on the control panel should be positioned so that you don't have to bend over to change them. Therefore, it is recommended to choose models in which the buttons can be switched by foot or remotely.
To enhance the effect, it is recommended to use various cosmetic compositions: essential oils, herbal decoctions, bath foams, salts. For example, a foot hydromassage with lavender will soothe your feet and relieve tension.
Horse chestnut is effective in cases of frequent swelling of the legs. Some
It is recommended to add to water in case of excessive sweating. Chamomile will be useful for sensitive skin. The use of essential oils will turn your wellness procedure into a pleasant aromatherapy session. By the way, many models of hydromassage baths are equipped with containers for cosmetics, which is a very convenient factor for consumers.
A hydromassage foot bath, the benefits and harms of which are a favorite topic of many housewives, is not available to everyone who wants to improve their health. Fungal infections, muscle injuries, allergic manifestations, wounds on the legs, tumors are factors under which massage should be avoided. It is recommended to use this procedure with great caution during pregnancy, as well as circulatory problems. If you have varicose veins, joint pain, or diabetes, you should definitely consult a doctor.
According to consumer reviews, you should always monitor your well-being after taking a bath. If it worsens, the procedure must be stopped.
If the child has no contraindications, you can start from infancy. It would be optimal to combine hydromassage with an evening swim. But you need to monitor the baby’s condition and mood after the procedures. If he becomes too excited, it is better to postpone the water massage until the morning. If the child calms down, then evening is the optimal time of day.
From 0 to 3 months
Hydromassage for newborns is a very responsible event. This is something new for both the child and the mother. Therefore, the procedure must be carried out according to all the rules.
- Fill the baby's bathtub with water and bathe your baby as usual.
- Add a little more warm water to the bath. This is necessary to raise its level and maintain the temperature, because the bath cools down during bathing.
- Then open the tap and adjust the water temperature. For newborns it should be 37-38 degrees, as for bathing. Use a baby thermometer.
- Lower the shower into the bath until the water completely covers it.
- Switch the water from the tap to the shower.
- Run the shower along the baby's body. The jets are distributed under water, so the child feels a soft and gentle massage.
- Three minutes will be enough.
Why such difficulties? If your baby hears a sharp sound of water coming from the shower, he may be scared. And it is better to carry out the procedure with an assistant. For example, while mom supports the baby, dad sets up the shower.
From 3 to 6 months
The child’s muscles and bones gradually become stronger, so the duration of the hydromassage can be increased to 5 minutes. It is also possible to make the shower pressure stronger.
If a child begins to whine during a water massage, this is normal. He just shows his character. But very restless behavior (kicking his legs, shaking his head, crying intensifies) indicates that he doesn’t like something (the water is too cold or hot, the pressure is strong). You need to either adjust the water or postpone the procedure until next time. You should also stop if the baby suddenly throws a tantrum and desperately tries to escape.
From 6 months
If you regularly give your child hydromassage, he will get used to the noise, splashes and water in general. Therefore, from the age of six months, you can safely water your baby from an open shower (not under water).
If you have a Jacuzzi at home, you can use this to give your baby a hydromassage. You shouldn’t apply a strong pressure right away: let the baby first get used to the seething water. You can also sit in the bath with him.
To prevent immunity and for general health promotion, water massage is done to a child at home. If the pediatrician prescribed this procedure according to indications, the mother goes with the baby to a physiotherapy room or health center.
Hydromassage can be recommended at any age. Depending on this, the child will be sent either to individual (babies up to one year old) or to group sessions (older children). In such institutions, massage is performed not with a shower jet, but in special baths with bubbles (analogous to a jacuzzi).
Let us highlight the main conditions that parents of children of all ages should take into account when performing home water massage.
- Water temperature. For babies up to 3 months – strictly 37-38 degrees. You can begin to harden older children by lowering the temperature by 1 degree every week.
- Duration of the procedure. We start with 3 minutes, gradually add 1 minute. But the total massage should not last more than 15 minutes.
- Game format. During hydromassage, be sure to communicate with your child, encourage him, and smile. Let's understand that this is a pleasant event.
- Feeling good. If the baby is unwell, any massage is contraindicated for him.
- Systematicity. It is not necessary to have hydromassage every day, but you need to maintain regularity. For example, every 3 days or every Sunday.
Hydromassage is a useful and enjoyable procedure for children. Consider contraindications and follow simple rules. Then your baby will love water massage and will grow healthy and strong.
Thanks to the effects of warm water, blood circulation improves as blood vessels dilate and muscles relax. Feet endure enormous loads throughout the day. Their structure allows them to absorb impacts when walking and running. All joints in this part of the body are connected by elastic and strong ligaments, but the bones themselves are quite small compared to others, and therefore more fragile.
To ensure that bone and connective tissue does not suffer from heavy loads, nature provides it with a high ability to regenerate. But restoration requires nutrients - “building materials”, as well as oxygen. All this is supplied by the blood stream. If the blood vessels do not do their job well, a person’s legs quickly get tired and even cramps are possible. The latter are a real “distress signal”, which indicates that the muscles need rest and warmth.
Doctors recommend buying a hydromassage foot bath not only for people who move a lot, but also for those who spend whole days sitting in a chair. In this case, the problem is different, but it also leads the cells to oxygen starvation. There are no muscle fibers in the venous vessels, so the blood, which has given oxygen to the tissues and is saturated with carbon dioxide, moves to the heart, and from there to the lungs, only through muscle contraction. If a person moves little, he experiences stagnation of venous blood and, as a result, varicose veins.
At first, this problem does not cause any discomfort and causes disappointment only as a cosmetic defect. But prolonged oxygen starvation can lead to serious consequences. To prevent this from happening, your legs must work. If this is not possible, then hydromassage baths come to the rescue.
A sedentary lifestyle also worsens blood flow to the pelvic organs and inflammation occurs there. After all, the blood contains the most important “defenders” of a person from bacteria and viruses, “garbage collectors” - leukocytes. Lack of physical activity has a detrimental effect on the immune system, as lymph circulation also deteriorates.
If you are interested in the question - benefits and harms of a hydromassage foot bath - due to the presence of any diseases in you or the person to whom you are going to give it, we strongly advise you to consult a specialist doctor in a particular field of medicine. There are a number of general contraindications for which it is not recommended to use this type of equipment.
Hydromassage at home
At home, hydromassage can be done using a shower and a jacuzzi. For a shower, you need to purchase a special nozzle in which you can adjust the pressure. Mono mode is ideal for massage. A powerful jet of water will allow you to thoroughly work out all problem areas.
At home, a jacuzzi is used for health benefits. The body is under water, as relaxed as possible. This procedure is good to do in the evening, but not in the morning. People with diseases of the cardiovascular system and skin lesions should avoid hydromassage. It is harmful.
Harm of hydromassage and contraindications to the procedure
The hydrotherapy procedure is carried out only after consultation with the attending physician.
Important! The presence of diseases in the acute stage is a direct contraindication to hydromassage.
For which diseases it is not used:
- in case of thrombosis, exposure to a stream of water can provoke the detachment of a blood clot;
- for diseases of the heart and blood vessels, bleeding, hypertension;
- oncology;
- skin infections, water can cause their spread;
- urolithiasis, cholelithiasis is a contraindication;
- pregnancy and breastfeeding;
- oncological diseases.
In general, it is useful, but there are also harmful properties. Massage bath nozzles are difficult to clean; various microorganisms multiply in them in large quantities. They cause harm: they cause infections of the skin and genitourinary tract.
Negative consequences of using hydromassage
Despite such a large number of positive qualities, there are also some negative aspects. Every user needs to know about them:
- the possibility of becoming infected with intestinal bacteria, fungi, staphylococcus, mycobacteria. This happens because it is not easy to get to the drain pipes, so harmful organisms remain in them. To verify this, special studies were carried out. It turned out that 10 ml of tap water contains 137 bacteria, and bath water contains about two million;
- If bubbles escape from hot water, an aerosol is created in the air. If you inhale it, pathogenic organisms enter the lungs.
Don't neglect your own safety. Organisms living in a hot tub most often affect the skin and genitourinary tract. People with reduced immunity, elderly citizens, and children are especially susceptible to infection.
Reviews and opinions of doctors
Hydromassage has been used for therapeutic purposes in medicine since the 30s of the last century and has not lost its relevance in our time. Thus, cosmetologist A.V. Moskovkina recommends it to her patients as a complex therapy for weight loss. “When losing weight, the condition of the skin often worsens; when losing weight quickly, it sags. Jet massage improves its quality and appearance,” the cosmetologist shared her observations.
Due to the relaxing properties of the liquid, hydromassage is widely used in therapeutic practice. Somnologist Alexander Fadeev considers it useful to undergo a course of hydrotherapy for sleep disorders.
