Why is rice good for the face?
Even if you regularly consume rice internally, your skin condition will certainly improve. This is due to the ability of cereals to collect toxic components that accumulate in the intestines. That is, rice is a natural adsorbent. Thanks to the complete cleansing of the gastrointestinal tract, there will be no pimples or rashes left on the face, and its color will improve. How can rice help your appearance in general? To answer, it’s worth getting acquainted with its main nutritional components.
- Vitamins of group B. The skin is necessary to maintain youth, a rich shade, and a smooth surface.
- Starch. Makes the skin softer, whitens it, evens out the shade, eliminates minor wrinkles.
- Silicon. Maintains elasticity, which is why the effect of silicon is sometimes compared to lifting.
- Choline. A unique natural sedative and antihistamine component for topical use. If your skin has irritation, allergies, or any unpleasant rashes, the choline contained in rice will certainly get rid of them.
- Complex of vegetable fats. Stimulates the formation of collagen, which is necessary to maintain excellent skin condition, increase elasticity, and prevent wrinkles.
- Complex of amino acids and antioxidants. Rice contains components that restore the integrity of the skin, accelerating the healing of wounds and mechanical damage.
- A nicotinic acid. Finally, rice contains the “nicotine” that provides a bright, rich, healthy skin tone.
Contraindications and possible side effects
Natural homemade cosmetics based on rice have virtually no contraindications. Rice does not cause allergies and is suitable for any skin type and age. However, you should be extremely careful when choosing additional active ingredients. Thus, if you have rosacea and allergies to bee products, you should avoid preparing cosmetics with the addition of honey, and if you have acne and a tendency to irritation, you should avoid fruit acids.
Before using multi-component rice-based masks, it is recommended to try the finished product on the crook of your elbow or wrist. If an allergic reaction does not appear, the composition can be applied to the face.
Who are rice masks suitable for?
The use of home remedies made from rice is not recommended for all women. According to cosmetologists, rice products are most suitable for those with oily and combination skin types. The product dries the skin a little, removes unpleasant gloss, and makes the skin matte. It is not advisable to use it if it is very dry. Otherwise, you can speed up aging.

Benefits of rice water for skin
Rice is grown in areas with high humidity and high temperatures. This ancient cereal crop is distinguished by its rich composition of trace elements and minerals that are beneficial for skin and hair. Rice contains zinc, magnesium, silicon, iron, potassium, and selenium. As well as such valuable substances for the skin as vitamins C, E, group B, ferulic and folic acids, allantoin. Rice water retains all the beneficial properties of the grain for the skin: moisturize, nourish, restore, and relieve irritation.
“It must be said that rice water as a skin care product has not yet been studied enough,” says Joel Schlessinger, MD, dermatologist, plastic surgeon, and founder of LovelySkin.com. “But it is clear that it is an effective way to soften the skin, reduce enlarged pores and improve the complexion.”
This natural product can be used to care for any skin type. “But infusions and decoctions are especially good for combination, oily, problematic skin with inflammatory elements and acne,” says Anand Geria, MD, dermatologist at Geria Dermatology Clinic (New Jersey). “Rice water will significantly improve the condition of aging skin, which is losing tone and elasticity, with increased pigmentation.”
But those with very dry skin types should use this product carefully: rice tends to tighten pores and dry them out.
Rice water for face
Now let's talk about using rice broth. We discussed the method of preparing this product above, but how to use it? Rice water or rice water is a liquid that resembles jelly in consistency and turbidity. There are several options for using the product for facial care.
- Washing. The easiest option is to wash your face using rice water. A good method, but not suitable for regular use. Frequent washing causes irritation. But once every 2 days (preferably in the evening before going to bed) it is recommended to wash yourself with water from boiled rice.
- Rice water masks. It is clear that applying liquid to the skin of the face and then leaving it on is problematic. In order for the rice broth to last, you will first have to purchase or make a gauze mask. It is applied to the face, having previously been soaked in rice liquid. Keep it for 10-15 minutes. Anti-aging effect is guaranteed. Your skin tone will also improve.
- Rice ice. The liquid is also suitable for freezing. Ice cubes made from it are used to stimulate the skin and get rid of wrinkles. Ice cubes are passed along the main lines of wrinkles, massaged into the cheeks, forehead, and chin.
An allergic reaction to rice, rice flour or water is unlikely. Still, you should be careful with the chosen means at first. As with any other ingredients used to create the masks presented above.
How to make a facial elixir at home
There are several options for preparing this wonderful cosmetic product. Fermented rice water is the most beneficial for facial skin. I have her recipe in store for you.
Take rice (any you like) and add cool water. The recommended ratio is 1:4. Leave this infusion to settle at room temperature. Fermentation usually occurs within a couple of days. However, if you live in the south or the room is warm, then a day will be enough. It’s better to focus on the smell – it’s slightly sour.
During the fermentation process, the infusion will be enriched with antioxidants, enzymes, minerals and substances such as Pietra. This component is produced during fermentation. Pietra has amazing anti-aging benefits. This substance can activate the process of cell renewal.
Before use, you need to strain the infusion. Then you need to moisten the sponge in this liquid and wipe your face with it. This elixir effectively fights wrinkles and reduces pores. It also tightens the skin and evens out its color.
There are also faster methods for making rice water. I won’t repeat myself – read them here.
