Pigment spots on the face. How to remove and whiten skin at home. Treatment with folk remedies

Age spots on the face: causes

The reason for the appearance of age spots on the face is an increase in the amount of melanin in skin cells.

This increase can be provoked by genetic, endocrine, hormonal factors, ultraviolet radiation, as well as skin inflammation.

Pigment spots formed on the face are a signal to consult a dermatologist or cosmetologist for advice.

Some types of spots may indicate a serious illness , but even if this is not the case, age spots on the face should be removed, as they look unaesthetic.

Causes of pigmentation

Pigment spots are formed as a result of an excess of melanin pigment in one place of the skin.

These include:

  • freckles;
  • chloasma;
  • lentigo;
  • moles and birthmarks.

Freckles and chloasma are located in the upper layer of the epidermis. The reason for the appearance of the former is heredity, and chloasma is formed when:

  • hormonal imbalances (pregnancy, stress, natural aging);
  • liver or kidney diseases;
  • intense exposure to sunlight.

Also, the reasons for the appearance of dark spots are the illiterate use of professional exfoliation products and the lack of post-peeling care.

Freckles and chloasma can be removed with several courses of superficial exfoliation. Medium peeling is used very rarely for this purpose, and deep peeling is never used.

Lentigines, moles and birthmarks, regardless of the cause of formation, must be protected during cosmetic exfoliation. They can only be removed in a specialized clinic or institute strictly on the recommendation of a doctor.

The causes of pigmentation and the whitening procedure are in our video:

Pigment spots during pregnancy: is treatment required?

When pregnancy occurs, the body begins to rebuild. Among other things, the hormonal system fails, so one morning the expectant mother may notice pigment spots on her face.

The hormonal system begins to rebuild and excess melanin is produced. It appears on the face of a pregnant woman with pigmentation of varying intensity. Apart from a cosmetic inconvenience, these spots do not pose any threat.

Melanin is distributed unevenly in the skin during hormonal changes (in cosmetology it is called melasma or chloasma).

Age spots can appear anywhere, but most often they appear on the face, cheekbones, forehead, chin, shoulders and abdomen.

The cause of the appearance of unpleasant spots can also be a lack of folic acid in the body of a pregnant woman, as well as vitamins B and C, zinc, and iron.

In this case, the woman needs to balance her diet and take more food containing these vitamins and microelements. They are found in abundance in leafy vegetables (lettuce, spinach, parsley).

It is also necessary to include in the diet bread and other flour products made from wholemeal flour containing bran.

More often, melasma (otherwise chloasma) - acquired hypermelanosis of the face, neck, nipples occurs in individuals with a genetic predisposition ; Its appearance is promoted by exposure to sunlight.

This is normal during pregnancy. But if this causes moral discomfort, you can use decorative cosmetics to hide age spots on the face, rather than remove them with medication.

Attention! Do not get carried away with whitening creams - they can cause minor but unwanted harm to the baby. You can use folk remedies.

Pigment spots after childbirth

Most often, hyperpigmentation disappears soon after childbirth. But sometimes these areas of the skin remain sensitive to ultraviolet radiation and darken again when exposed to sunlight.

This mainly affects white-skinned and red-haired women. In these cases, when going outside on sunny days, you should apply creams with a high SPF factor (at least 30 units).

You can start using the cream from the beginning of March and continue until mid-October , or until you notice that the body has returned to normal and has stopped responding to ultraviolet rays.

The effect of the cream lasts approximately 4 hours, therefore, in order to remove pigment spots on the face from the eyes of strangers, you need to additionally protect the skin with foundation and powder.

The clinical picture of chloasma is irregularly shaped, brown spots of various shades. They do not peel or become inflamed; they can be located separately or merge into large spots.

The color and quantity depend on the intensity of the UV rays.

If after several menstruation, and even more so after stopping breastfeeding, pigmentation does not decrease, you should consult a dermatologist.

Homemade compresses

Compresses can be made from products in your refrigerator, for example, cottage cheese, kefir, sauerkraut.

  1. Whitening compress made from cottage cheese. Grind cottage cheese (5 tablespoons) and ammonia (5 drops) into a homogeneous mass. The mixture is applied only to age spots, covered with gauze, and covered with polyethylene on top (you can use cling film). Leave the compress on for 15 minutes, then wash off. During the procedure, a slight burning sensation may be felt, followed by redness of the skin. If the redness does not go away within an hour, the duration of the compress should be halved in subsequent times. The procedure is carried out every other day.
  2. Whitening compress based on kefir. Mix 2 tbsp. l. fat kefir with 10 drops of hydrogen peroxide. The product is applied only to pigmented areas; after application, the treated area is covered with gauze and polyethylene. The procedure can be performed three times a week.
  3. Sauerkraut. The most gentle method of skin whitening is to squeeze out enough juice from cabbage so that you can moisten a small piece of gauze in it. Apply the dampened cloth to the pigment spot and wait half an hour. Since the product is not aggressive, the compress can be done daily.

Pigment spots after sunburn

Often people who dream of surprising everyone with a bronze tan after a summer vacation get the opposite result: they become covered with brown specks, dots, spots, and in the most visible places.

This is the result of an accumulation of melanin in areas most exposed to ultraviolet radiation. Therefore, before sunbathing, you need to remember the simplest rules of how to sunbathe.

The use of low-quality (counterfeit) sunscreen can also play a role. Try to buy sunscreens in specialized stores, where an experienced consultant will tell you the SPF concentration you need.

Such problems do not go away on their own. An experienced cosmetologist in the salon will help remove age spots on the face, neck, décolleté, and shoulders in various ways accessible to different social strata.

The appearance of hyperpigmentation after solarium

In winter, many women want to have tanned skin, so they use the services of a solarium. If, after your first visit to the solarium, dark spots, rashes appear, or the tan is uneven, you should not continue the procedure.

Increased pigmentation in this case may be caused by one of the following factors:

  • taking hormonal contraceptives;
  • for some endocrine chronic diseases;
  • when taking certain medications (neuroleptics, sulfonamides, tetracycline antibiotics) during solarium procedures. If age spots on the face appear for this reason, they can be removed only after changing medications in agreement with the attending physician;
  • after applying cosmetics containing essential oil of bergamot and some other plants to the face and body.

In such cases, only peeling or folk treatments for pigmentation are recommended.

In the case of using medications, it is necessary to complete the course of treatment, and only after that try to remove age spots on the face and other parts of the body.

Skin lightening products

Natural remedies to quickly lighten your skin

It is important to do procedures regularly and carefully

Here are some precautions

  • Do not leave for longer than the time specified in the recipe. And do not use more often than recommended.
  • If you doubt whether the product is suitable, first do a sensitivity test. Apply a small amount to the bend of the elbow and evaluate the result within 15-20 minutes. If there are no significant unpleasant sensations, itching or burning. Can be used.

Below are some natural skin lightening remedies. Most of them can be used on any area of the body for any cause of pigmentation, unless otherwise indicated.

Lemon – 1st remedy to lighten skin

The simplest and most effective way to lighten your skin is lemon. Its juice helps get rid of impurities and pigmentation. It will also help make the tone smoother. But it cannot be classified as a pleasant and mild remedy. He acts quite aggressively. If there are wounds or other damage to the skin, application will be painful.

Therefore, if you are looking for a delicate product, it is better to pay attention to the following product

Cucumber will help gently lighten your skin

It can be used as an independent remedy. You don't even have to squeeze the juice. Just when using a vegetable, cut off the peel and wipe the inside of the skin that needs lightening. Also below you can find several recipes for the face and body.

Chamomile decoction

Or her essential oil. Excellent whitening product. It works very softly. Therefore, to quickly lighten your skin, it is better to choose another product. Or mix with chamomile tea to compensate for the intensity of whitening.

Aloe for skin lightening

Aloe vera is a pleasant natural remedy that can solve a whole list of problems. You can use the pulp of its leaves or a ready-made gel. You can also make homemade tonic. Mix aloe gel, lemon juice, cucumber juice, and chamomile decoction in equal proportions. Using the product every day you can even out your complexion, remove redness and spots from pimples, and prevent their appearance. The tonic will help against age-related pigmentation and the effects of prolonged exposure to the sun. Below you will find a recipe for homemade lightening patches.

Clay

Another means of delicate lightening and color evening is clay. White or blue is best. It will help on its own. If you need to quickly lighten your skin, dilute it not with water, but with chamomile decoction. You can add a spoon of lemon or cucumber juice.

Soda

Baking soda is one of the most frequently recommended household chemicals for lightening the face. It acts more intensely than all the listed remedies, except lemon. Therefore, it is recommended to wipe your face with a tonic no more than once every two days. To prepare, mix baking soda with water and add a little lemon juice. Additionally, it clears and prevents blemishes. This is an excellent remedy for age spots and darkening.

Hydrogen peroxide 3%

This product is in almost every medicine cabinet and will help quickly lighten your skin. To do this, it is diluted in half with water. We wipe our face with the resulting liquid every couple of days. Peroxide lightens the skin quickly and helps with a variety of reasons. But be careful about the reaction.

Aspirin

This remedy can also be found in the first aid kit. Aspirin tablets dissolved in water will help quickly deal with lightening. We take 10 pieces per 200 ml. We wipe our face every 2 days.

The following are recipes for lightening various areas of the body.

Pigment spots on the forehead

The most unpleasant thing is if such spots appear on the forehead. The skin on the frontal part of the head is dry and thin, and is difficult to peel, both chemical and laser.

Hyperpigmentation on the forehead can signal inflammatory processes in the kidneys, liver, and gall bladder. Dysfunctions of these organs are reflected on the skin.

Difficulty in the outflow of bile in the bile ducts causes yellow-brown spots with clear outlines to appear. In this case, a large amount of toxic substances accumulate in the skin.

Important to remember! Before starting any local treatment of pigment spots on the forehead and on the face in general, it is necessary to remove all doubts regarding the inflammatory processes of internal organs.

If hyperpigmentation of skin areas is not directly related to sun exposure, then you need to check with an endocrinologist.

There are several other reasons for darkening of the epidermal layer:

  • Menopausal changes;
  • Age-related changes (old age);
  • Traces from past burns, places of damage to the epidermis in the past;
  • Serious deficiency of B vitamins, vitamins A and E.

Having ruled out serious diseases of the internal organs, you can begin local treatment, that is, use folk remedies or go to a beauty salon for professional procedures.

At the same time, you should balance your diet so that the body receives all the necessary substances.

Peels for hyperpigmentation

Unattractive pigmentation on the face is a place of increased concentration of melanocytes - special epidermal cells that protect the skin from the dangerous effects of ultraviolet radiation. In the absence of provoking factors and certain diseases, melanocytes are evenly distributed on the skin, and their function remains unnoticed. The fact that pigment accumulates in certain areas and begins to cause a woman a lot of aesthetic inconvenience can result from:

  • long-term tanning in the sun or in a solarium. First, excessive doses of ultraviolet radiation result in the appearance of harmless freckles, and then hyperpigmentation;
  • pregnancy or changes in hormone levels while taking contraceptives. In the first case, the change in skin color may disappear without a trace after childbirth, in the second, not only a cosmetologist, but also the treating gynecologist will help solve the problem;
  • dysfunction of the thyroid gland, which will result in a general hormonal imbalance;
  • independent manual cleansing of the face from comedones, blackheads and the effects of acne, carried out with non-sterile instruments. Contaminants that can be brought into the pores of the skin with dirty hands can result in the appearance of age spots;
  • non-compliance with the rules of post-peeling care after recently performed exfoliation, in particular - exposure to the sun without a special sunscreen for the face;
  • metabolic disease;
  • stress;
  • liver and kidney diseases.

Most women suffering from a defect such as pigmentation prefer to solve the problem with the help of professional salon techniques - chemical or physical peelings. Those who are worried about the unpredictable reaction of the skin to cosmetic cleansing get rid of age spots on the face with the help of natural home remedies.

Peeling is a fairly effective way to forget about pigmentation for a long time. The basis of any exfoliation - superficial or medial - is exfoliation of the upper layer of keratinized epidermis and artificial stimulation of rejuvenation processes. As a result of the procedures, dead skin is “dissolved” or polished off along with all cosmetic defects, which include pigmentation. Fading skin with an uneven shade is replaced by an even tone, a tightened oval of the face and rosy cheeks.

When choosing a peeling for age spots, you need to consider the following important points:

  • the current state of health of the body, the presence of chronic diseases, allergic reactions, changes in hormonal levels;
  • planned or actual pregnancy;
  • the reasons why pigmentation appeared right now;
  • possible contraindications for chemical or physical exfoliation procedures;
  • the budget you are willing to spend on a course of cosmetic manipulations;
  • season.

Several acid and hardware skin renewal techniques are effective against pigmentation. For some, lightening age spots is a direct purpose, for others it is an accompanying purpose. It is advisable to entrust any facial peeling using serious active ingredients to a professional. And before preparing your own formulations for home procedures, consult with a specialist about the possible consequences.

Deficiencies are not always corrected immediately. Sometimes several sessions are required, only then will improvements be noticeable. You also need to consider the cause of the problem. If its effect continues, age spots will appear again.

Therefore, in order to increase the effectiveness of peeling, it is necessary to undergo examination and make sure that there are no hormonal problems, allergic reactions, or diseases of internal organs. If they are present, measures must be taken to eliminate them.

It is advisable that the procedure be carried out by a specialist. If done incorrectly, you can injure the skin and worsen its condition. Also, without special knowledge, it is difficult to take into account the characteristics and needs of the skin.

Pigment spots in a child

The reasons for the appearance of skin tumors in a baby can be both external and internal factors.

In children, spots of various types of pigmentation occur due to:

  • metabolic disorders;
  • changes in the hormonal system;
  • diseases of the gastrointestinal tract;
  • taking certain types of medications;
  • changes in diet and climate.

In young children, there are such types of age spots on the face and throughout the body that I would really like to remove, but they go away on their own:

  • “Coffee spots” occur mainly in newborn babies; they do not require treatment and go away on their own after a few months;
  • Hemangioma is a red spot that is not caused by an accumulation of melanin, but is a benign tumor of the blood vessels. This tumor is a consequence of intrauterine failure of the development of the circulatory system. In 75% of cases it goes away by the age of 7, in other cases it disappears in adolescence due to hormonal changes. In some cases, a hemangioma may signal the formation of a tumor within the body. You should check with a doctor if you notice such a spot. If the hemangioma bleeds or is located in a place where it is often injured, it is removed surgically;
  • Newborn babies have pink spots in the back of the head, forehead, and temples. These are birth microtraumas that the child received while passing through the birth canal; they do not need treatment and cannot be treated. In medicine, such spots are called telagniectasia ;
  • "Mongoloid spot" - spots, akin to ordinary moles, look like a large hematoma. Usually found on the buttocks and legs. They are found in children of the Mongoloid race, which includes the Chinese, Japanese, Mongols and similar nationalities. They also occur in children of mixed marriages. By about 5 years of age, the spot becomes significantly lighter. It does not pose a health hazard and does not require medical intervention.

Like adults, children may develop pigment spots on areas that have been heavily exposed to sun tanning : shoulders, face, back, neck. They are also removed in various ways, starting with traditional methods.

How to remove pigment spots on the face in a salon

A beauty salon specialist can offer several ways to remove age spots.

Phototherapy for age spots

According to numerous testimonies, phototherapy is currently one of the modern salon means for removing hyperpigmentation. To completely disappear a pigment spot, 3-4 procedures are required.

The advantage of phototherapy is that it is practically painless (only a slight burning sensation is felt during the procedure), the disadvantage is that the prices are quite high, which are not always affordable for some segments of the population.

In salons in provincial cities, such procedures are not performed precisely because it is impossible to pay for expensive equipment.

After the procedures, it is recommended not to use face creams and try not to be exposed to direct sunlight.

Laser removal of age spots on the face

The price, according to salon visitors, is on average 100 euros for a consultation and 200 euros for one procedure. Suitable for people with shallow pigmentation. It is divided into superficial and deep exfolation.

In order to completely remove an unaesthetic pigment spot on the face, superficial exfolation is used, which acts on the epidermis and dermis. There is no pain during the procedure, only a slight tingling sensation.

After the procedure, a crust forms on the spot, which will fall off on its own in a few days. If the spot is shallow, 2-3 treatments may be enough.

Before starting laser treatment, you should refrain from solariums and tanning for four weeks.

After each procedure, you should use SPF 50 sunscreen and protect the treated area from sunlight.

Approximately one third of patients were dissatisfied with the results after the entire course of procedures. But there is no likelihood that they followed the doctor's recommendations.

Fractional thermolysis

This is nothing more than a laser effect on the patient’s skin (deep exfoliation).

The process involves the deep cells of the dermis, forcing the production of a new collagen layer. The doctor determines the depth and intensity of this effect.

Fractional thermolysis is more often used to rejuvenate the face and remove fine expression wrinkles than to remove age spots on the face. But this procedure is very serious and requires a rehabilitation period.

Fractional thermolysis procedures should be carried out on an outpatient basis in specialized clinics ; they should not be carried out in beauty salons.

This has a serious impact not only on the skin, but also on the entire body, and unpleasant complications can arise. Therefore, during the rehabilitation period it is better to be under the supervision of a doctor.

Peeling for age spots

The most common way to get rid of hyperpigmentation in our beauty salons. There are physical and chemical peelings.

The most affordable radio wave peeling for economy class salons. High-frequency radiation has a destructive effect on dark melanocyte cells and is quite suitable for minor hyperpigmentation.

Redness in the treated areas lasts for several days, then disappears.

If you want to remove pigment spots on your face at home, whiten your skin, folk remedies, ointments and decoctions will help just as well as peeling.

Carbon peeling

Combines chemical and physical effects on the skin.

A gel containing micron particles of carbon dioxide is applied to the surface required for treatment. The gel is absorbed into the skin and then subjected to laser irradiation.

Carbon dioxide creates a micro-explosion inside tissues. By destroying the old layer of the epidermis, it removes hyperpigmentation for a long time. Does not affect the deep layers of the dermis, very suitable for removing age spots.

Retinol peeling

According to most cosmetologists, the best chemical peeling is retinol. It is also called retinoic or “yellow”. The price varies in different cities from 3000 to 5000 per procedure.

There is only one procedure, but it gives a completely satisfactory effect. They make it in salons in two different versions: in the first one, it is applied in the salon and washed off in the salon, but it burns the skin quite strongly; with the second option, a more gentle composition is applied in the salon, which can only be washed off the next morning.

Exfoliation of the skin occurs in the same way. From approximately 3 to 8 days after the procedure, the skin peels off, the old epidermis quickly disappears.

Panthenol cream must be applied for two weeks after peeling. It also partially hides peeling. For example, you can take Bepanten cream.

Peeling with various acids

This peeling is done in a salon, but some women have learned how to do it perfectly on their own.

In addition, in specialized stores you can buy a peeling kit, which includes a mask with some acid, a neutralizing cream and a special care cream between peeling sessions.

Any peeling, a series of procedures, should be started during the period of minimal solar activity, and even at this time you should spend less time in the open sun for a long time.

In central Russia this is usually the period from November to March. At other times it will not bring the desired result. And removing age spots on the face will be several times more difficult.

Cosmetological treatment methods

Today, many beauty clinics offer skin whitening services.

  • The most effective, fastest and safest method is laser removal..
  • Another effective method is photorejuvenation. But it is not suitable for everyone; a comprehensive examination is required before using it.
  • Whitening peeling does not always give the expected result. In addition, the procedure may be painful.
  • Cryotherapy is the newest method of exposing the skin to liquid nitrogen.

Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages. But if the pigmentation is not too pronounced or the person does not want to seek the services of specialists, then the skin can be cleaned at home.

Which whitening cream, ointment, face gel to choose for age spots: list of products

Here is a list of popular products that are used to get rid of age spots.

"Achromin" for age spots (reviews)

Unfortunately, manufacturers do not indicate the level of ultraviolet protection .

According to customer reviews at the pharmacy, the cream does not have the desired whitening effect. But our grandmothers still remember this remedy, and that’s why it is still popular.

The cream contains hydroquinone, a powerful agent that can be very harmful to sensitive skin. In most European countries this substance is prohibited for use.

In addition, the manufacturer of the original product was declared bankrupt back in 2010, and the drug is produced by dubious companies.

Achromin ointment for age spots also contains hydroquinine and is a type of Achromin cream.

“Melanative” - cream for age spots on the face (reviews, price)

Reviews from leading cosmetologists in Moscow are very positive.

Despite the fact that Clotrimazole is an antifungal drug, it is quite successfully used in the fight against hyperpigmentation.

Reviews are mostly satisfactory; some cosmetologists note that applying it three times a day is not always convenient for working women. The biggest advantage is the low price.

"Skinoren" for age spots (reviews)

This is not a specialized cream; reducing pigmentation is just one of its properties. The cream contains azelaic acid, which penetrates into the epidermis and dermis and lingers there, practically not entering the circulatory system.

In addition to pigmentation, the cream is used to treat acne, seborrheic dermatitis and other skin diseases.

According to many cosmetologists, this cream is good to use when, in addition to age spots, the patient is also bothered by other skin problems.

Badyaga for age spots (reviews)

Badyagi powder is not very convenient for use and only due to abrasive substances it exfoliates the epidermis layer and increases blood circulation. There are contraindications.

According to cosmetologists, there are now enough more modern, targeted means.

Zinc ointment for age spots (reviews)

Cosmetologists offer this remedy as an auxiliary remedy mainly for hyperpigmentation.

Apply zinc ointment 2 times a day in the intervals between procedures or the use of creams aimed only at removing age spots.

"Ahroaktiv" for pigment spots (reviews)

Cosmetologists have a clear opinion - a cheap product is rarely good. So it is with Akhroaktiv; it was previously produced in Bulgaria and actually whitened the skin.

Now it brings more disappointments, and sometimes problems, in the form of emerging allergies.

"Ansil" for age spots

They are silicone plates containing active AHA acids in the adhesive layer, which perfectly help prevent the appearance of hyperpigmentation, and with long-term use make them less noticeable.

According to cosmetologists, it successfully copes with most types of age spots, as it contains placenta extract.

The extract rejuvenates the entire dermis as a whole, removing excess melanin along with old cells.

Now you can buy it freely at the pharmacy.

Before the start of sales, it was tested on 100 women with various pigmentation problems - 97% received a positive result and were satisfied.

Concentrate for lightening age spots "Faberlic" (reviews)

According to all reviews from customers of the Faberlic product series, the concentrate lightens, but does not remove stains that reappear when you stop using the concentrate. And the price is too high.

Vichy cream for age spots

Has proven itself to be extremely positive. Apply twice a day to pre-cleansed skin, contains antioxidant vitamin E. Cost within 2000 rubles.

“Welltox” - cream for age spots (reviews)

Reviews from doctors are negative, since the recommendations for the cream indicate the presence of the Amelonin molecule, which in reality does not exist.

In fact, this was the name of a whitening cream previously produced in Switzerland.

"Arbutin" for age spots

This is a substance found in creams that has a whitening effect.

"Ascorutin" for age spots (reviews)

The whitening product contains vitamin C, which is recommended by doctors, and rutin, which relieves inflammation.

An inexpensive pharmaceutical cream that many doctors recommend using to remove age spots on the face.

"Inblanc" for age spots (reviews)

Although the cream is widely advertised as consisting only of natural ingredients, most cosmetologists are inclined to believe that this is just another fake.

If only because you can only buy it on the Internet, that is, there is no one to file a claim with.

Green tea cream for age spots (reviews)

According to cosmetologists, it is one of the strongest peelings that can be used at home.

Peeling begins on the third day of use and continues for about a week. The effect is very good.

Peels for hyperpigmentation

The appearance of age spots is one of the most common unwanted post-peel effects.
The fact is that after peeling, the skin loses its protective layer, which makes it more susceptible to the influence of atmospheric and physical factors. This is especially true for direct sunlight, exposure to which leads to the accumulation of melanin in skin cells. As you know, peeling is a cosmetic procedure in which the upper dead layers of the epidermis are removed - depending on the need, the depth of the effect may vary. There are superficial, medium and deep peels; the effect itself can be produced by completely different factors - laser and light radiation, chemicals, ultrasound, solid particles and others.

Skin pigmentation disorders are nothing more than an accumulation of melanocytes - special skin cells that contain pigment to protect tissues from ultraviolet radiation. Long-term and frequent exposure to the latter often leads to the fact that melanocytes, instead of being evenly distributed over the skin, accumulate in a relatively narrow area of the skin.

Peeling has long been used to combat age spots - most of these disorders are located in the epidermis, in those layers where this cosmetic procedure can penetrate. Therefore, most people who have a similar problem are actively interested in the possibilities of peeling to correct their disorder - but the difficulty is in choosing the most suitable technique.

Currently, there are several dozen varieties of this cosmetic procedure, and it can be very difficult to clearly say which one is better. Meanwhile, this issue is important not only from the point of view of the effectiveness of the procedure, but also from a financial point of view - the differences in the cost of different types of peeling can reach tens of times.

A variety of peeling techniques against age spots are available not only in beauty salons - some of them can be carried out at home. Therefore, when choosing one method or another, you need to familiarize yourself with the procedures, weigh the pros and cons, calculate your time and money, and then choose the best correction procedure for yourself.

White, yellow and brown pigment spots appear not only in older people. They occur due to a lack or excess of melanin in the body, as well as problems with the thyroid gland and gastrointestinal tract.

Due to certain factors, an increased concentration of melanocytes occurs in the skin - cells on the outer layer, which are designed to protect the dermis from exposure to ultraviolet radiation.

Dark or light spots cause aesthetic discomfort.

The pigmentation peeling procedure is popular and very effective, but only in cases where the spots have arisen due to exposure to ultraviolet radiation.

Often pigments on the skin indicate serious health problems. In such cases, it is necessary to diagnose and undergo tests in the hospital, and treat the root cause of the formation of spots.

Before going to a cosmetologist and signing up for a procedure, you need to:

  • normalize the function of melanin production (take vitamins, avoid sunlight);
  • check your kidneys, liver and stomach, follow your doctor’s recommendations and treatment plan;
  • Avoid visiting the solarium and sunbathing;
  • stop drinking alcohol and tobacco products.

After these measures, pigmentation after peeling will disappear forever. If you do the procedure without identifying the root cause of the formation of spots, then soon they will appear on the face and body again.

Cosmetology sessions are aimed at exfoliating the top layer of the epidermis and along with it dead cells. After 3-4 procedures, facial tone is evened out, and the skin acquires a natural and healthy shade.

Spots after peeling are the body’s protective reaction to aggressive environmental influences. They are not an indicator of the presence of a disease, they are just an aesthetic defect of the skin.

The main causes of skin pigmentation:

  1. Failure to comply with the rules of the procedure;
  2. Lack of protection from UV radiation during the recovery period (neglecting the application of SPF products when visiting a solarium and long-term exposure to the sun);
  3. Exacerbation of skin diseases (acne, pimples, herpes, inflammation);
  4. Unstable hormonal levels;
  5. Delayed peeling. The best time for the procedure is winter and autumn;
  6. Failure to follow skin care rules.

Many girls panic and don’t know what to do if pigment spots appear after peeling or existing pigment spots darken after peeling. First of all, you need to make an appointment with a cosmetologist or dermatologist, who will objectively assess the extent of the damage and prescribe treatment. It is strongly not recommended to self-medicate or wait for the spots to go away on their own. This can cause the spots to remain on your face forever.

Any possible complication is easier to prevent than to correct. Therefore, it is worth preparing in advance for the upcoming peeling and protecting yourself:

  1. In a situation where pigment spots remain from the first peeling, or if the cosmetologist has the slightest suspicion that there is a possibility of spots appearing, the procedure should be abandoned forever;
  2. In any situation where long-term exposure to the sun is possible, you need to apply a product with SPF of at least 30 - 40 in summer and at least 15 in winter. When you are outside the house, you need to take the products with you and, if necessary, renew the protective layer;
  3. If you get a sunburn, be sure to use ointments or creams with a cooling effect, for example, Bepanten.
  4. Avoid exposure to the sun from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.;
  5. For young or non-problematic skin, you should choose a light peeling. For these skin types, 1 – 2 procedures per month are necessary to exfoliate all excess, and pigmentation after peeling is reduced to zero, since only the upper layers are affected;
  6. During the entire recovery period, the use of decorative cosmetics should be avoided.

Professional cosmetologists often give advice on how to remove stains after peeling.

For young people, superficial peeling with fruit acids is recommended.

It is safe enough for young skin, which does not yet need any harsh cosmetic procedures. It may contain the following set of acids: glycolic, lactic, malic, tartaric, citric.

People over 30 years old could benefit from a TCA peel course.

It will help not only erase pigmentation from your face, but also remove fine wrinkles and smooth out skin unevenness, including scars from acne or chickenpox.

The main ingredient is trichloroacetic acid of varying concentrations. The higher the percentage of acid in the peeling solution, the better the effect.

How do you know when it's time to sound the alarm? Study this section carefully and you will have no questions left.

Well, have you read all this and now you don’t even want to think about peeling? Of course, our goal was not to intimidate you: we just gave a real picture of how it can be if done incorrectly. But you will do everything right, right?

Indeed, in fact, if you strictly follow the key rules, the risk of complications after peeling is reduced to zero. Moreover, there are not many rules.

  1. Home post-peeling care is the main key to success. Here it is important to show consciousness, commitment and pedantry: yes, yes, all this at once. If a cosmetologist recommends that you purchase several products for home care after peeling, you should not think that you are being “conned” and that they are “making money” on you. Believe me, salon products have the most necessary composition for you, and replacing them with baby cream, sour cream and olive oil is, to say the least, unreasonable. Write down a clear scheme for applying the products and follow it scrupulously, even if it seems that “everything has passed and nothing is bothering you.” By the way, some cosmetologists generally refuse to do mid-peelings if the patient is not able to purchase post-peel care - and this is the right tactic! Proper post-peeling care is the key to success
  2. Refrain from visiting the sauna, bathhouse, swimming pool, or beach. It would seem an obvious thing, but a huge number of clients neglect this recommendation.
  3. Warn your cosmetologist in advance if you are taking oral contraceptives or using other hormonal therapy. In such a situation, not all types of chemical peels can be performed.
  4. Never use folk remedies, especially those obtained from unreliable sources on the Internet. Using homemade lotions made from herbs and food products after a salon chemical peel is not “natural”, but real obscurantism.
  5. Do not use comedogenic cosmetics and minimize the use of foundation. Of course, testing new decorative cosmetics on your face is out of the question. After peeling, the skin has a characteristic shine, which many women try to eliminate with all kinds of matting. Need I say how unreasonable such actions are?
  6. Proper pre-peeling preparation will help to properly prepare the skin for the procedure and significantly reduce the risk of potential complications.

How to lighten age spots on your face at home. Recipes

Using products that are on hand or purchased at the nearest retail outlet, you can remove pigment spots on your face without resorting to the services of cosmetologists and without spending a lot of money.

Parsley masks for age spots

The most affordable and safest mask: finely chopped parsley should be mixed with low-fat kefir to the consistency of thick sour cream, applied to the face for 15-20 minutes. You should make a mask regularly in the autumn.

In winter, you can use parsley root for a mask, minced or crushed in a blender, add a little (about 1 tbsp) lemon juice.

The mixture is applied to the face for 15 minutes, avoiding areas around the eyes and lips, then washed off with water.

Lemon for age spots on the face

Mask options:

  • You need to dilute lemon juice with distilled water in a 1:1 ratio, use it as a lotion, wiping all problem areas;
  • A very effective mask made from lemon juice, oatmeal and kefir. The oatmeal must first be crushed, then mix all the ingredients and let stand for 2 hours. This mask can be used as a scrub.

Castor oil for age spots

It is better to take cold-pressed milk from a reputable manufacturer. They simply smear the stains until they disappear.

Hydrogen peroxide for age spots

How to use it correctly:

  • Add a few drops of lemon juice to 50 g of 3% hydrogen peroxide. Using a cotton swab, apply the solution strictly to the hyperpigmented spot and leave it on for no more than 15 minutes. Wash off with warm water and be sure to apply a rich cream;
  • A more complex but effective mask: 6 drops of peroxide, 6 ml of apple cider vinegar, 12 ml of burdock oil. The remaining ingredients are added to the oil and the face and décolleté are lubricated with this solution. Leave it on for 8-10 minutes, then rinse it off and apply cream with bergamot oil.

Salicylic acid for age spots

An alcohol solution of salicylic acid is bought in pharmacies; for whitening you need a 2% solution. Apply it to a makeup-free face for a few minutes, then rinse off.

With fairly regular use (morning and evening) for two weeks it gives good results; according to many patients, it is convenient to use when it is not possible to visit a salon.

Facial wipes

To get rid of unwanted pigmentation, you can use a wide variety of products as a facial lotion - the juice of sour apple, radish, cucumber, parsley, lemon and other citrus fruits, kiwi, various berries, and sauerkraut. Hydrogen peroxide is especially popular (the concentration should not exceed 3%).

  1. Parsley lotion - you can use pure juice or pour boiling water over the chopped herbs, leave for about half an hour, and then wipe your face with the resulting product.
  2. Parsley lotion with vodka - chopped greens (about 200-250 g) in a blender, pour vodka (100-150 g), leave for 5 days in a cold place, then filter and pour in the freshly squeezed juice of half a lemon. Store the product in a dark place.
  3. Citrus lotions - make sure you are not allergic before using. Use only freshly squeezed juices (do not store them longer than 24 hours). Dilute the resulting juice 1:1 with water. After you have applied the citrus lotion to your face, wait 15 minutes and then wash your face.
  4. Cucumber lotion - chopped fresh cucumber is poured with half a glass of vodka and left for 7 days. Then filter, dilute with water (1:1) and wipe the face.
  5. Berry lotion - the juices of red currants, cranberries, viburnum, and strawberries will help whiten the pigment. Berry lotion should be freshly prepared; in fact, it is fresh juice that you wipe your face with. Wash your face 20 minutes after application.

To lighten the skin, you can wipe your face several times a day with a swab soaked in hydrogen peroxide, and after drying, apply a nourishing cream. To lighten an individual pigmented area, leave the moistened swab on the skin for several minutes, and then treat with cream. This method of getting rid of pigmentation is not recommended for women with sensitive skin.
