Cartridge waxing - advantages and convenience of depilation at home

Every girl who is about to go for hair removal wants to know how long the wax lasts. Not all experts can say how long wax lasts, since this question is individual. The duration of maintaining smooth, hair-free skin may depend on various factors, including the professionalism of the specialist, the client’s hormonal background, the quality of the wax, and the thoroughness of the preparation of the procedure. Today we will find out how long waxing lasts on the legs and other parts of the body. Read the following article on the pages of the magazine.

How long does wax last?

There is no definite answer to this question, because everything depends on the physiological characteristics of a particular person.
There is no definite answer to this question, because everything depends on the physiological characteristics of a particular person. The effect lasts for about a month, after which the procedure will have to be repeated. The main thing is to wait until your hair is long enough. It has been noticed that depending on how many procedures are done and how to do it, there is less discomfort each time.

The body gets used to it, and the hair grows thinner and slower.

To remove hair from the face or legs, you usually need to do 5-6 depilations with hot or warm wax over two to four weeks. How long does cold wax last? You'll have to tinker with it a little longer.

Important! How long does wax depilation last? The average figure between the two thresholds (14 and 24) is 19 days.

What you need for waxing in cartridges

No matter what capabilities the cartridge has, it is problematic to use it without a special device for heating the wax. The wax melter (this is the name of the mentioned device) is able to constantly heat the wax to the desired temperature, and you will not have to stop epilating.
You can try to do without it, but it is very difficult to guess the temperature of the wax when heated in hot water or in the microwave, which means this can lead to burns and uneven heating of the contents of the container. Depending on the manufacturer, the number of cassettes used and possible additional functions, the price of wax melters differs.

Today on sale you can find both universal devices and individual models, the design of which is designed to use cartridges of a certain manufacturer or type. In the latter case, the heating program of the wax melter most closely matches the type of wax in the cassette, however, universal devices can be used in combination with different cartridges, which also has its advantages.

In addition to cassettes and a wax melter, before epilation, you also need to prepare strips or tapes to tear off the applied composition from the surface of the skin: they simply stick to the wax and, after it cools, are torn off along with the hairs.
Such material can be sold in the form of individual strips or entire rolls made of fabric or paper. Important!
For cartridge depilation, it is better to use fabric strips, as they are more durable and suitable for reusable use.

Wax residues are removed from the skin with special wipes or lotion, since they cannot be washed off with ordinary water. You can read more in the article about effective ways to remove wax residue after hair removal.

How long does waxing last?

If you have never used this method and have not used a razor to remove hair, then after the first waxing procedure the hairs will not be visible for 21-30 days. Women who have regularly used razors and other hair removal methods for 3-5 years enjoy smooth skin after using wax for about two weeks.

Note that the duration of the effect of wax hair removal is individual for everyone. For some women, it is enough to visit a specialist once every three to four weeks, while others rush for a second correction within a week. This is due to the hormonal background of a woman: in some young ladies, the level of testosterone in the body is increased, which is why the hair on the body is pronounced. However, you should not lose sight of such cases when, after waxing, body hair stopped growing altogether.

A common trend for most women is to reduce the amount of unwanted hair with regular waxing. This is explained very simply: removing hairs from the roots thins their shaft, despite the fact that the hair follicle is not completely destroyed. However, after some time, individual hairs weaken so much that they stop growing altogether.

Wax cartridges

Wax in cartridges

Not every woman knows what wax cartridges for depilation are, since this product is a fairly new invention in cosmetology. Using this product, you can perform depilation on any part of the body: face, legs, bikini area, arms, armpits.

On a note. Externally, the wax cartridge is represented by a traditional container with a wax composition. The difference from the canned counterpart is that in the upper part there is a special device that distributes the heated composition evenly. This is a convenient depilation roller; how to use it is described in the instructions.

Based on their purpose, wax cartridges can be divided into two groups:

  1. Devices with a wide nozzle. They are convenient to use for hair removal on large areas, for example, legs, arms.
  2. Devices with a narrow nozzle. These devices are most often used for depilation in the bikini area, armpits or face. With this nozzle it is easy to apply neat thin stripes.

On a note. On sale you can find cassettes with wax separately, or you can purchase a set that also contains the rest of the necessary tools for depilation.

The latter option is more economical, since subsequently it will be possible to purchase only cartridges - they are consumed more slowly.

How long does waxing last and how to prolong the effect?

To enhance the effect, there are various substances, for example, lotions. They are used after the procedure; the active substances have a direct effect on the hair follicles, inhibiting hair growth.

In addition, the lotion thins the hair and makes it disappear completely in the future. From a certain place, of course. Most of the products have different formulations, but usually they contain substances that soothe the skin and have antiseptic properties.

What undesirable consequences could there be? In fact, this method is considered one of the simplest and most trouble-free.

But in exceptional cases the following may occur:

  • dry skin,
  • irritation,
  • pimples,
  • deeply ingrown hairs.

If you do waxing in a salon, then such problems are practically eliminated. At home, they are rarely observed.

Some experts do not recommend waxing during pregnancy. Whatever one may say, sometimes the sensations from the procedure can be unpleasant. And separate sets of cosmetics for depilation or after it are not suitable for women in an interesting position.

How long does wax hair removal last: extend the effect with folk remedies

You shouldn’t limit yourself exclusively to professional products.
You shouldn’t limit yourself exclusively to professional products. You can choose regular creams that are sold in cosmetic stores, or order through a consultant.

Formic alcohol can be used to slow down the growth of unwanted vegetation. It also relieves possible inflammation, brightens and makes hair thinner. Apply the product using rubbing movements in the first week after hair removal. After a short break of several days, the course is repeated.

Among folk remedies, lemon is the most famous. Both its juice and peel are used. After the session, the skin is rubbed with a crust or a cotton pad soaked in juice.

On average, hairs begin to grow after 2-4 weeks. Post-epilation products will help consolidate the result; it is better to choose from a professional line. Many of them not only slow down growth, but also take care of the skin and prevent the appearance of ingrown hairs.”

Epilation wax

There are several types of wax for waxing: hard and soft wax, wax strips and water-soluble wax.

Hard wax has the form of a briquette and is used in beauty salons. It is heated for about 30 minutes to a temperature of 50 degrees using a special device called a wax melter.

Soft wax can be purchased ready-made. It is used both in salons and at home.

Wax strips are intended for self-use. These are special paper strips with cold wax, which is heated with your hands.

Water-soluble wax is a special cream with sugar or honey.

Pros and cons of hair removal with wax strips

Depilation using wax strips has advantages and disadvantages.

The advantages include:

  • Financial accessibility and the ability to purchase at any cosmetic store.
  • Ease of use. Depilation does not require additional devices and equipment.
  • Possibility of repeated use.
  • Long lasting effect.

It is worth noting that with each subsequent procedure, hair growth slows down, it becomes thin and soft.

If we talk about the disadvantages, they include:

  • Severe pain.
  • Possibility of injury to the skin.

It is impossible to remove all hair using strips alone. In addition, you need to take into account that hairs that are at least 0.5 cm long will be subject to depilation, which is also not suitable for everyone.

Contraindications for use

There are a number of diseases and conditions when the use of wax depilation, both in cartridges and in jars, is unacceptable:

  • Various neoplasms in the form of warts and papillomas;
  • Pregnancy, since pain during the procedure can cause unwanted contractions of the uterus;
  • Phlebeurysm;
  • Wounds from burns or bites;
  • Scratches, scars, cuts;
  • Pimples, blackheads or other rashes.

On a note. As practice shows, if you decide to use wax in depilation cassettes, you can be sure that this is the most acceptable material.

Experts recommend choosing this option for depilation at home. With the help of cartridges, the removal procedure can be significantly simplified and made safer. Today, stores offer a large selection of wax in cassettes.

Advantages and disadvantages

If we compare wax depilation in cartridges with other methods, we can highlight a number of advantages:

  1. The wax epilation cartridge has a special roller that helps distribute the wax evenly over the skin. The pores are filled very carefully, which makes the procedure less painful.
  2. A large selection of wax in cassettes for hair removal (with various oils, with extracts of medicinal herbs and others).
  3. The presence of attachments of different sizes, which allows you to do depilation in different places, both wide and delicate, narrow.
  4. Preparation for the procedure is very simple; heating the wax will take no more than 15 minutes.
  5. Thanks to the presence of a roller, the wax composition is evenly distributed, which saves time and money, since excess depilatory wax in the cartridges does not leak out.
  6. Safety of the procedure.
  7. With the help of wax, deep hair removal is achieved, which allows you to forget about the procedure for 2-3 weeks.

Bikini waxing

Cassette depilation is characterized by all the disadvantages of any type using wax. This is a rather painful procedure. Another disadvantage is the need for equipment with which the wax will be heated. Naturally, you need to be careful, since the possibility of wax leakage remains, which can ruin nearby things.

On a note. Another disadvantage of the procedure is that it is performed on the skin when the hairs have grown at least 4-5 mm. Otherwise, they simply will not be captured by wax.

Making wax at home

If it is not possible to purchase ready-made wax, you can prepare it yourself. The composition prepared by yourself has a number of advantages. First of all, it is worth noting that it contains no chemical components. In addition, you will be able to save money. The recipe for making wax is not at all complicated, so anyone can handle it.

Recipe 1. To prepare the composition for depilation of legs and arms, you will need the following components:

  • beeswax – 100 g;
  • rosin – 200 g;
  • paraffin – 50 g.

When preparing wax, you must follow all proportions. The components must be mixed and placed in a water bath until they melt. To heat up homemade wax, you can take a special device; the main thing is to know how to use a wax melter. As soon as all the components of the wax are heated, the mixture must be cooled to 40-42 degrees and immediately used to remove hairs.

Recipe 2. To remove hair from sensitive areas, a mixture based on the following components is suitable:

  • carnauba wax - 360 g;
  • beeswax -130 g;
  • glycerin – 1 tbsp. l.;
  • tea tree essential oil.

The wax needs to be melted in a water bath, then add glycerin and essential oil to it. If we talk about how to properly use wax that is prepared at home, then you can start depilation after the composition has cooled to a temperature of 35 - 42 degrees.

Recipe 3. For depilation at home, you can also use a honey-based composition. For the mixture you will need:

  • honey – 340 ml;
  • water – 0.5 cups;
  • lemon juice.

Honey should be mixed with citrus juice, then place the container on low heat and do not remove until the honey has melted. After the product reaches a liquid consistency, you need to add water to it. The composition must be kept on fire until it becomes thick.

Homemade depilatory compounds can be stored in the refrigerator. As soon as the time comes to carry out the procedure again, the mixture must be heated to the desired temperature in a water bath or in a wax melter.

What is cassette wax?

All waxes are divided into groups according to their melting point. They can be:

  • hot - heated to 55–65 °C;
  • warm - their operating temperature is 37–45 °C;
  • cold - the wax material is ready for use after warming up in the palms with the warmth of the human body.

Hot waxes are used mainly by specialists in salons, since when using refractory waxes at home, there is a high probability of getting burns on the skin.

Cold wax is presented in the form of ready-made wax strips (bandages). It does not pose any risk of burns and is quite convenient to use. However, cold wax has a significant drawback - its effectiveness is significantly inferior, since the low melting point does not provide high-quality adhesion to the hairs, and after tearing off the bandage, the skin surface may not be absolutely smooth. Most often, wax strips are used when traveling.

Therefore, experts recommend using warm waxes at home. Their plastic structure when heated allows them to accept all the complex curves of the body and reliably grab hairs. At the same time, the melting point of warm waxes is close to the temperature of the human body, so the risk of burns is reduced to zero.

Warm waxes are often produced in cartridges. These are rectangular containers made of polymer material filled with wax. Each cassette is equipped with a roller, which makes it much easier to evenly distribute the wax over the skin in a thin layer.

Each wax cassette is equipped with a roller

The essence of waxing (waxing)

To remove excess hairs from the surface of the skin, wax is applied along the hair growth and then sharply torn off in the opposite direction, i.e. against the growth of the hairs.

When the waxy material is lifted from the skin surface, the hair adhering to it is removed along with the follicles. As a result, the skin becomes smooth for 3-4 weeks.

The optimal hair length for waxing is 3–4 mm.

Waxing involves different methods of applying wax to the skin:

  • using a spatula;
  • from the cartridge.

It should be noted that using cassette wax application greatly simplifies the procedure, since the wax layer is uniform and thin . This saves both material consumption and time.

The wax is applied in the direction of hair growth and torn off in the opposite direction.

How to prepare for back waxing

For waxing to be successful and painless, you need to properly prepare for it. It is very useful to perform a light back massage 2 days before the procedure. This will improve blood circulation and increase skin elasticity. After the massage, the skin should be moisturized with a special cream. A few days before hair removal, you should not visit the bathhouse, sauna, solarium or simply sunbathe in the sun.

On the day of back waxing, women do not need to use their usual body creams and lotions, but should wash their backs with their hands with the most common soap without using a hard sponge. Anything on the skin will interfere with the effects of the wax. It’s worth preparing clothes made from natural, breathable fabric in advance so that you can reliably cover your back after waxing is complete.

However, on the day of hair removal, you can no longer lubricate your back with oils and creams. This may interfere with the wax's effects. It is advisable to immediately prepare loose clothing made from natural, breathable material.

How long does the waxing procedure last?

A lot of women and girls are interested in how much waxing is enough, especially if they decide to try this procedure for the first time. Studying the reviews of those for whom waxing is far from new, we can conclude that everything depends, first of all, on the individual characteristics of the body, as well as on how accurately all the rules were followed during the procedure.

How long can skin remain smooth and clean? The average period is about 2-3 weeks, but it can fluctuate significantly in one direction or another. The effectiveness of the procedure is determined by the mechanism of its implementation: the hairs are removed by pulling them out from the roots. Therefore, the time before the formation of new vegetation takes several weeks.

If waxing is performed for the first time, the results will last for a long time – 1-1.5 months. This happens because after the first removal, the hairs grow much slower than after repeated plucking. But women for whom waxing has been a habitual procedure for several years now have to use this method much more often. The results last only a couple of weeks.

What to do after the procedure

After the hair removal procedure using cassette wax, you need to apply a moisturizing lotion to the skin. At the moment the wax comes off, microtraumas form on the skin, through which moisture escapes, which in turn leads to itching and flaking.

To prevent hairs from growing in, the skin should be cleansed with a scrub 1-2 times a week. New hairs grow thin and weak and often fail to break through the strong stratum corneum.

After the procedure, a rash and irritation may appear on the skin. This phenomenon may occur due to the use of low-quality wax or an incorrect procedure. You should also not rule out an allergic reaction to the composition.

If depilation is carried out at home, it is necessary to use products to moisturize the skin and relieve irritation. To minimize the occurrence of a negative reaction, you can use an antiseptic in the form of hydrogen peroxide or alcohol.

It is recommended to carry out the depilation procedure in the evening - overnight the skin will have time to recover and acquire a healthy appearance. Lotions and creams for children are suitable as moisturizers. Such cosmetics are hypoallergenic and have a softening effect.

Immediately after the hair removal procedure, you can wipe the areas with ice cubes. You can freeze plain water, but it is best if it is a liquid in the form of a decoction of calendula or chamomile.

There are also special cosmetic products on sale that moisturize and nourish the skin after depilation. You should not use sunscreen or deodorants during the day. If the irritation does not go away, the skin will have to be treated with Chlorhexidine and Bepanthen cream for several days.

To slow down hair growth after depilation, you can rub in special products. For several days after the procedure, you should refrain from visiting saunas, swimming pools, and solariums to prevent the spread of pathogenic microbes. It is also necessary to avoid exposure to open sunlight. After the procedure, it is advisable to wear loose clothing made from natural fabrics.

Back depilation for men with wax

Waxing in a salon is practiced using two techniques. The first involves the use of hot wax, which is melted in special wax melters and heated to 60 degrees. The second uses material in cartridges. The latter is just suitable for removing hair from large areas of the body, such as the back, legs and arms.

The procedure is carried out according to the following scheme:

  1. The wax is heated to the desired temperature - 40 - 45 degrees.
  2. The master uses special cosmetics to thoroughly cleanse the skin.
  3. After the skin has dried, wax is applied. The cosmetologist checks its temperature with his hands, so the risk of getting burned is reduced to zero.
  4. A fabric strip is placed on the wax mass so that 1 cm of material remains free from the paste at the bottom. Then the cosmetologist smooths it slightly with his hand so that the wax adheres better.
  5. When the paste dries, the strip is picked up by the free edge and abruptly torn off. In this case, you need to pull parallel to the top of the body, and not upward.
  6. The next strip is immediately applied and similar manipulations are performed.
  7. After the entire area has been treated, oil from a professional cosmetic line is used, which effectively removes wax residue.
  8. The product is applied to soothe irritated skin and slow down the growth of new hairs.

As for the technique using hot wax, it is used for delicate areas of the body where the endocrine glands are located. These are the armpits, face, linea alba, chest and bikini area. These are the places where a person sweats the most, so the approach to them should be a little different. Before applying hot wax, the skin is treated with talcum powder.

Remember that the procedure is carried out only for a certain length of hair.

Preparation for the procedure

Depilation with cassette wax will be most effective if the skin is properly prepared.

First of all, you need to know that the length of the hairs before the session should vary from 3 to 7 mm. Short hairs may not be captured by the applied wax, and the procedure for longer hair is accompanied by severe pain.

A day before waxing, it is advisable to treat the problem area with a scrub. Then the abrasive particles will remove the stratum corneum, and the hairs will be pulled out along with the root less painfully.

Immediately before the session, experts advise steaming the skin surface. When exposed to heat, the pores will open, which will also make it much easier to remove unwanted hair.

Depilation at home

Depilation with hot wax

Waxing at home

Depilation with cartridge wax differs little from other types. Before you begin the procedures, you should prepare the tools to perform them and prepare the surface of your feet in advance.

What is needed for the procedure

Before depilation you should purchase:

  1. A wax melter that will help quickly melt the wax composition in cassettes. If there is no such device, then the wax is heated in a steam bath or in the microwave. Warming up the cassette takes approximately 25-30 minutes.
  2. Cartridge for waxing.
  3. Epilation paper, which is presented in even strips.
  4. Body oil (it is used to remove wax residues).
  5. Baby powder or cosmetic talc.

Preparing for depilation

On a note. In order for the skin to accept the effects of wax as easily as possible, it should be prepared for the procedure.

The day before (12-24 hours before) peeling is performed using a scrub. It helps remove dead skin and provides maximum access to hairs.

Before the procedure itself, the skin is steamed. This could be a hot shower. You can also apply a towel soaked in hot water (no more than 60 degrees) to the treated area.

Note! To reduce pain, you can use special anesthetic ointments. The advisability of their use depends on the person’s pain threshold. While some people easily tolerate the waxing procedure, for others it is an unbearable pain that they find difficult to endure.

Step-by-step depilation

The hair removal process for any area is as follows:

  1. The wax melter melts the wax in the cartridges. The duration of the procedure depends on the type of wax.
  2. The skin that will be waxed is treated with an antiseptic.
  3. To remove excess liquid, the surface is treated with powder or talcum powder.
  4. Then wax is applied along the hairline using a cassette roller.
  5. A paper strip is carefully placed on top; you should run your hand over it several times so that the wax composition is well attached to the paper. The edge of the paper is left free to allow easy tearing.
  6. After a few minutes, when the wax has cooled, you can begin to remove it along with the hairs. Using the free edge, the paper is torn off from the skin with a sharp movement along with the wax and hairs.
  7. After the procedure, cosmetic oil is applied, which will remove droplets of remaining wax.

On a note. If hairs remain on the surface, repeat the procedure.

A similar action is carried out for the entire surface of the body where hair is planned to be removed.
