Face masks with gelatin and activated carbon: recipes for cleansing acne and blackheads

Features of the procedure

The finished film mask is very popular among owners of oily and combination skin prone to comedones. Due to its special adhesive composition, it can literally pull out all the impurities from the pores, completely eliminating blackheads. You can purchase a ready-made mask or make it yourself. Most home remedies contain gelatin. This affordable ingredient makes a great base for your mask.

Many people mistakenly believe that a film mask with gelatin is aimed solely at cleansing the skin. Of course, the popularity of this product is explained precisely by this property, but the mask’s abilities do not end there.

Gelatin has long been used in cosmetology as a nutritional component for hair and skin care. The protein contained in it is perfectly absorbed by the cells of our body. Therefore, a mask with gelatin can be considered not only a cleansing, but also a nourishing procedure. The composition and properties of the product can also be changed by adding various ingredients.

Home cooking steps

The composition of the cosmetic product made from activated carbon and gelatin is very affordable and absolutely any woman can afford it, even with a small income. The ingredients of the mask cost mere pennies and it can be prepared at home.

To do this, take both components and mix in certain proportions:

  • 1 teaspoon gelatin powder;
  • 1 tablet of activated carbon;
  • 2 teaspoons milk or purified water.

The product is prepared in several stages:

  • The coal should be placed in a small container and crushed into powder;
  • add a teaspoon of gelatin to activated carbon and mix everything well;
  • add milk or purified water to the container and stir until smooth and melt in the microwave for about 15 seconds or do this in a water bath;
  • After the gelatin is completely dissolved, the mask must be cooled to 40 degrees.

When all of the above steps have been completed, the mask is ready for use.

Indications

Cosmetologists believe that a gelatin mask will help correct the following skin imperfections.

  1. Blackheads and other types of comedones.
  2. Enlarged pores.
  3. Uneven and dull complexion.
  4. Insufficient elasticity and firmness of the epidermis.
  5. Small wrinkles.

In addition, it can be used to prevent all of the above problems. Reviews show that products with gelatin provide a cumulative effect. Those who regularly used them in their youth rarely experience premature skin aging.

Procedure

For the mask we take food gelatin. It should be without dyes and flavors, colorless - the weaker the yellowish tint, the better.

First you need to cleanse the skin very well. First, we remove makeup, then it would be good to use a scrub (or peeling, for example, Christina), and then steam your face for several minutes over a herbal, for example, chamomile, decoction.

The prepared composition - you need to check that it is not too hot! - applied to the face (or only areas where there are problems) using a brush or, less conveniently, a cotton pad.

My mixture was thick, and I spread it directly with my fingers.

Apply 2-3 layers one after another. You can do more - the thicker the film, the easier it will be to pull it off later.

After applying the mixture, the face should remain as still as possible. Keep the mask on your face for 15–20 minutes until it dries completely.

After this, you need to pick it up from the bottom along the edges and remove it with a quick movement. This is the most unpleasant moment. The mask sticks on perfectly, and the process of peeling it off feels like tearing wax strips from the skin (and yes, you get a bonus for depilating your upper lip).

Sensitive skin may become very red. My slight redness persisted for about 2 hours.

It’s worse if the mask turned out to be too thin and it was not possible to remove it in one piece - in this case, you have to scrape off individual flaps for a long time and difficultly. But nothing: a little practice, and everything will work out.

After removing the mask, a moisturizing cream is applied, and if the skin is very red and signs of irritation appear, a soothing cream is applied.

The effectiveness of masks with gelatin and activated carbon

Many cosmetologists recommend adding milk to the composition of such masks.

Many have heard about the high effectiveness of such masks, but not everyone knows what exactly their effect on the epidermis is. Each component contains biologically active components that provide deep cleansing of pores and skin rejuvenation.

Activated carbon contains: oxygen, hydrogen, carbohydrates, which, when penetrated under the skin, normalize all metabolic processes.

Gelatin consists of amino acids: glycine, asparagine, glutamine, proline, alanine, as well as vitamins.

The properties of activated carbon are:

  • deep cleansing of the epidermis from all types of impurities and sebum (plugs, comedones);
  • smoothing the skin texture;
  • reducing pore size and regulating the secretion of oily secretions;
  • calming effect on the inflamed epidermis;
  • increasing cellular respiration and oxygen penetration.

The action of gelatin is:

  • toning and restoration of the epidermis;
  • exfoliation of the dead stratum corneum from the surface of the skin;
  • smoothing the surface of the skin;
  • the presence of 85% of protein compounds involved in the processes of cellular respiration, renewal, restoration with the normalization of their work;
  • the presence of animal collagen, which is related to human skin cells and is therefore perfectly absorbed, making the epidermis firm, elastic, taut and young.

Many cosmetologists recommend adding milk to the composition of such masks, which provides:

  • softening sensitive skin types under the aggressive influence of certain components of gelatin and coal;
  • giving the epidermis softness and silkiness;
  • whitening effect, eliminating hyperemia (redness), yellowness and pigmentation of the skin surface;
  • rejuvenating effect.

Contraindications

The film mask against blackheads is contraindicated in the presence of certain diseases and symptoms. These include:

  • violation of the integrity of the skin;
  • rosacea;
  • massive pustular formations on the surface of the face;
  • any dermatological diseases in the acute stage;
  • malignant and benign tumors.

The procedure should also not be carried out if you are individually intolerant to the components of the product. You can avoid possible allergies by doing a simple test. Immediately before the first application of the mask, distribute a small amount of the prepared composition onto clean skin of the wrist. Observe the skin condition for 15 minutes. If you do not find any signs of irritation, you can proceed with the procedure.

Thus, gelatin based blackhead removal mask is very effective. If you do it correctly and regularly, you can achieve impressive results: your complexion will improve, the number of inflammations and comedones will decrease. Moreover, this procedure can be considered an excellent prevention of skin aging. The complexity of the effects of the ingredients and ease of implementation make the gelatin mask an indispensable assistant for all girls!

Frequency of cosmetic procedure

You should not overuse this mask and do it too often. Although its preparation and use are very simple, it greatly dries out the dermis. Once a week will be enough to keep your skin clean.

It goes well with other cosmetics, such as scrubs. If your facial skin is oily, you can repeat the procedure twice a week.

This cosmetic procedure should be done in a course of five weeks, after which you should take a break.
