Starch face masks: benefits, recipes, application

Starch face masks are a great opportunity to prolong the beauty and youth of your skin. Homemade cosmetics can compete with such a popular salon procedure as Botox. But the main advantage is that after using a starch-based mask, the effect will not be worse, but the natural facial expressions will be preserved. The skin is smoothed and there is no unpleasant painful sensation during the procedure. After using a starch face mask instead of Botox, there are no negative consequences (for example, facial asymmetry, swelling, weakness, stiff upper lip, etc.). Potato starch is a completely natural component, so the mask does not contain all kinds of chemical additives that can provoke a severe allergic reaction.

What are the benefits of a starch face mask?

Every woman who respects herself and her beauty will have reasons why she will choose starch as the basis of her care products. For example:

  1. It is cheap and can be found in any store.
  2. Combines with many other components.
  3. Preparing masks and other skin care products from it is extremely simple and quick, but this does not affect the effectiveness of the product.
  4. Starch contains a large amount of vitamin C, which has a good effect on the natural regeneration of the dermis.
  5. The iron in its composition saturates the dermis with oxygen and promotes hydration.
  6. Choline regulates the production of sebum, so starch products will do a great job on oily dermis.
  7. Folic acid strengthens the structure of the dermis, thereby tightening it and evening out the color.

How to make a starch mask

Corn or potato starches are suitable for making medicinal mixtures. The easiest way would be to buy it at the pharmacy and not bother. However, if you wish, you can remove it at home. This can be done in several stages:

  1. Peel the potatoes, remove the eyes if there are any.
  2. Rub it on a grater or pass it through a meat grinder.
  3. Fill the resulting potato mixture with water in a 1:1 ratio.
  4. Strain through several layers of gauze or one layer of thick cloth - a white, insoluble sediment will remain in the water, which is exactly what we need.
  5. You can drain the water, but only very carefully.

How often to make a face mask from starch

When conducting a course of products based on this ingredient, make sure that there are no more than three procedures in two weeks. Starch-based products are quite potent and aggressive, so do not overdo it.

Follow the instructions strictly and do not exhaust the dermis with excessive use of these products.

Reviews on the use of starch mask

Ainura, 35 years old

Masks with starch and banana help me. When I notice that my skin has become exhausted and lifeless due to the pace of the big city and the poor environment.

Maria, 23 years old

I love using lemon and starch masks! For my oily epidermis, this recipe is a lifesaver, especially when I need to burn away pimples. Protein and starch help against blackheads; they seem to pull dirt out of the pores with a brush.

Annushka, 50 years old

A starch and tomato mask is simply a miracle! At my age, you need to carefully use all kinds of remedies, even folk remedies. This product works like Botox, especially when my face isn't looking its best.

Difference from Botox

Those who write positive reviews about starch masks against wrinkles were able to evaluate its properties for themselves. Especially that such recipes are tens of times safer than Botox injections. Even with daily use, such substances cannot cause any harm. But botulinum toxin, which is administered using syringes, blocks neuromuscular transmission in cells.

Such a blockage interferes with the functioning of nerve endings and muscles that are involved in the formation of wrinkles. But constant stay in a state of atrophy and freezing cannot be positive in the long term.

Any injections are short-term in nature. And there is no evidence that after 15-20 years of regular use they will not cause optimal consequences. Another significant disadvantage of Botox is the blocking of natural facial expressions. Often, after such injections, the skin becomes plastic, the face seems to freeze, and natural beauty disappears.

Another significant drawback of such injections is a possible side effect that leads to facial asymmetry. Especially when injections are given in the eye or lip area.

Other possible side effects include:

  • Ptosis;
  • Diplopia;
  • Ecchymosis;
  • Muscle weakness;
  • Reduced blink rate;
  • Stiffness of the lip;
  • Everting of the eyelids;
  • Severe swelling.

Masks made from starch against wrinkles instead of Botox, judging not only from reviews, but also from the actual practice of cosmetologists, cannot cause any harm. Only when using fruit acids in the composition should you be careful. But even in this case, a possible burn caused by acids goes away within a few days.
