Mattifying wipes from DE.CO: test drive on oily skin

One of the worst things you can do to your skin is allow dirt, oil residue and makeup residue to accumulate on it. And you know how it happens in the city - polluted air will definitely affect your skin. Obviously, you don't carry your skin care kit in your purse. But what you should carry with you are mattifying facial wipes. They're convenient, easy to use, and a hassle-free way to keep your skin clean while you're on the move. We've put together a list of the 10 best mattifying wipes on the market for every skin type.

Why do you need and how to choose mattifying facial wipes?

If you're considering using mattifying wipes to control your skin's oiliness, make sure you're also aware of any fragrances or other additives that may be present in them.

Anything that presses or rubs against the skin can cause irritation or upset the skin's pH balance. Read the ingredients carefully and try to find products that are odorless.

Their main use in your skincare routine should be simply to reduce shine when you need to leave your makeup untouched or simply have no cleansing options. Think of them more as a beauty product than a skin care product!

Check the ingredients in facial wipes. Facial wipes can be filled with chemicals and preservatives that can be harmful to your skin. When purchasing facial wipes, check the ingredients and choose wipes that do not contain formaldehyde-releasing chemicals. These chemicals, such as 2-Bromo-2-Nitropropane-1,3-diol, are used to extend the shelf life of facial wipes.

  • Although these chemicals reduce the chance of bacteria they can cause damage to the skin.

Choose gentle, alcohol-free wipes. Many facial wipes contain alcohol, which can leave your skin dry. Choose facial wipes that are gentle on the skin and do not contain alcohol. This is especially important for people with dry and sensitive skin.

Avoid facial wipes that contain added fragrances. Some facial wipes will contain fragrances, which can also be harmful to your skin and cause it to dry out. Choose facial wipes that are odorless and gentle on the skin. This will help reduce the likelihood of skin irritation and dryness.

How to use mattifying facial wipes

Gently rub the wipes in a circular motion. If using facial wipes, wipe gently in a circular motion over the entire face. You may need to use several wipes to remove all the makeup, oil and dirt from your face. Look at each wipe after it has been applied to your face. If the wipe looks clean, then you have probably removed all the makeup and dirt from your face.

Don't use facial wipes if you have eczema or rosacea because they can irritate your skin and cause flare-ups.

Use wipes to remove makeup. You should always remove makeup from your skin before going to bed because it can clog your pores and cause acne. If you're too tired to do your usual nightly cleansing routine, you can use a face wipe to remove your makeup before bed. This doesn't have to become a regular habit, but it's best to remove makeup with a facial tissue rather than doing anything at all.

Tips for choosing

When choosing wipes to remove oily shine from your face, pay attention to several basic criteria:

  • Compound. We recommend using wipes that do not contain alcohol. Alcohol-based materials can dry out the skin and cause flaking.
  • Skin type. If you have sensitive dermis, it is better to take wipes without fragrances and fragrances. Other skin types tolerate wipes with additional extracts well.
  • Package. It should be optimal and convenient, because the essence of napkins is that they can be used at any time.

Review of products manufactured under various brands

How much do mattifying facial wipes cost? Products presented on the cosmetics market can be divided into three price categories:

  • budget - 50−150 rub. (“I am the most”, “Belita-Vitex”, Cettua, etc.);
  • middle segment - 250−400 rub. (NYX, MaryKay, Oriflame, Korean, Japanese brands, etc.);
  • premium products - from 800 rubles. (Shiseido, Chanel, Clinique, etc.).

When considering options, it is worth considering the reviews of those who use matting wipes regularly and have already managed to evaluate the pros and cons of different brands. It is difficult to determine the “best” mattifying facial wipes, because... Each product has its own advantage, but you should pay attention to popular products that have won the trust of consumers.

"I am the"

Matting napkins for the neat and thrifty

. There are 80 pieces in a package; 1-2 napkins are needed for the procedure. If you use them occasionally, it will last for 2-3 months, with daily use - for 3-4 weeks. There is a classic type and with green tea extract, which has an antiseptic and tonic effect. Of what is sold in stores today, this is the most economical option, but it does the job well.

"Cettua"

Inexpensive wipes for problem skin

. The cost is the same as for the “I am the most” napkins, but there are only 50 pieces in the envelope, and a unit of production actually costs much more. The foundation is impregnated with aluminum sulfate, which acts as an “antiperspirant” for the skin and helps it stay matte longer. For those whose nose and cheeks quickly begin to shine, this will be an additional advantage.

"Clean&Clear"

Instantly absorb oil and perfectly mattify the skin. Wipes for oily skin from this Korean brand can rightfully be called a unique product, because... truly high quality is combined with an affordable price. Those who have used them claim that their effectiveness can compete with luxury products from expensive brands - and this at a cost of $2 per pack.

The effect is explained by the unusual base material, which is a cross between plastic film and rubber and is capable of literally “pulling” fat and impurities from the skin. There are 60 pieces in a package, 1-2 copies are enough for the procedure. Unfortunately, “Clean&Clear” napkins are not sold in Russia, but they can be ordered in a foreign online store or bought in Asia.

"Belita-Vitex", "Veronique"

You can now find inexpensive matting wipes in Belarusian cosmetics stores. The price/quality ratio of the products of these brands is decent

- they absorb perfectly, and over the short period of their existence they have already received many enthusiastic reviews from customers. There are 50 pieces in a package.

Asian manufacturers

Anti-oily facial wipes from Korean and Japanese brands (Katani, Holika Holika, Suki, The Face Shop, Etude House, Mentholatum Acnes, MISSHA, etc.) can be conditionally combined into one large group. Any of the listed products copes with shine “excellently”, and its cost is lower than the cost of analogues presented in Russian perfume chains and pharmacies. Like Clean&Clear, they are ordered on international online trading platforms or on the websites of Russian sellers of Asian cosmetics.

NYX

Wood pulp wipes for different skin types: classic, with salicylic acid, tea tree, green tea or lavender extract. The owner of the brand is an American cosmetics company. The relatively high price is compensated by the safety and environmental friendliness of the natural base.

Elite products do not need introductions or comparisons, because... Brand reputation is a kind of guarantor of quality. However, even among expensive brands there are favorites.

"Shiseido"

The standard of ideal napkins

. It is with this product that customers compare others, trying to find something similar, but... at least a little cheaper. Just one procedure - and your skin, instantly becoming matte and velvety, will remain that way until the evening. But the price “bites”, and very strongly.

Any of the above brands satisfies the basic quality requirements, but the first place in terms of the optimal quality/price ratio is occupied by products from South Korean and Japanese manufacturers.

Matting wipes: remove oily shine

Recently I was asked what to wear with makeup in the summer so that my makeup doesn’t smudge.
I answer: nothing. In the heat, everything floats, even the most resilient. Applying makeup and powder all the time is not at all useful; you must first remove excess moisture from your face, otherwise you will clog all your pores. Therefore, the most necessary thing for summer is mattifying wipes that remove oily shine while preserving your makeup. Why is it harmful to powder yourself in the heat? Just imagine: the skin is covered in foundation (even a light one, like a BB cream), powdered on top, but in the heat it still starts to sweat. Dust and other contaminants stick to a wet face as it flies. And then you put another layer of powder on top of all this. Do you know what happens? A layer cake of sweat, dirt and foundation. Poor, poor skin...

Therefore, if you notice a greasy sheen, remove this fat using napkins. Together with it, you will remove a significant amount of impurities that have gotten on the skin. And in order not to remove the foundation and blush, you need to do this with special mattifying wipes.

Mattifying wipes differ from regular wipes in that they absorb moisture instantly as soon as they touch the skin. You don’t need to rub your face with them, just apply them to the skin and press a little. At the same time, the makeup does not wash off, no streaks remain, the skin becomes matte, and even powder may not be useful.

How to use matting wipes correctly. There are a lot of negative reviews on the Internet about various napkins, and when you read them, you understand that a person is simply using them incorrectly. For example, complaints that napkins are like sandpaper. Did you rub your skin with them? What for? Therefore, read and do everything correctly:

  1. Take one napkin, apply it to the skin and press a little. DO NOT RUB!
  2. Wait a couple of seconds until the moisture is absorbed into the napkin
  3. Remove the tissue, and if it is not wet or is intended for use on both sides, apply it to the next area of skin. The skin should become matte. If this does not happen and the moisture remains, apply the other side of the napkin
  4. Some napkins (more on that below) get wet too quickly, so you'll have to use several at a time. Don't skimp, remove fat as thoroughly as possible

Mary Mattifying Wipes . In terms of quality, these are the best napkins I have ever come across. Their advantages:

  • There are 75 of them in the package, not 50
  • They are conveniently packaged and taken out one at a time, not in a bunch at once.
  • These matting wipes absorb perfectly; in addition to their paper base, they also have a thin coating similar to talc or powder. Thanks to this, they absorb more moisture than all others
  • They are large enough and absorb on both sides. That is, even for oily skin, one napkin is enough to treat the entire face

Disadvantages of Mary Kay mattifying wipes:

  • High price. They cost as much as powder from the mass market, if not more, although it is just paper
  • You can't buy these matting wipes in the store. To purchase them, you will have to find a Mary Kay consultant. For me personally, the difficulty is that in addition to napkins, consultants are trying to sell me everything else, and this is annoying. I would be much happier buying wipes at the supermarket.

And yet, if price and difficulties do not bother you, but only quality, then this is definitely an ideal option.

Mattifying wipes L'Etoile. This is for the case when there is no time to look for a Mary Kay consultant, or there is no desire to listen to him. Not a bad product, better than many. Advantages:

Contact me on Instagram - @okosmeo . I will answer all questions in the comments, subscribe!

  • They absorb well, although worse than the previous ones. A couple of wipes will be enough for the entire face.
  • Available. Sold in the L'Etoile retail chain, you can always run in and buy, and the consultant will not try to save you half the store
  • Convenient packaging

Disadvantages of L'Etoile mattifying wipes:

  • There are only 50 of them in the package
  • They are small in size, so in hot weather one is not enough for the whole face
  • Impregnation with talc is too much. It should absorb, but certainly should not remain on the skin or fall off the napkin.

As for the price, the issue is controversial. These matting napkins cannot be called cheap, but at the same time, L'Etoile has frequent promotions, and if you are a regular customer, there is always an opportunity to buy them at a good discount. As for the ratio of price, quality and availability, taking into account the discounts, the ratio is quite good.

matting wipes . I bought them while running when I suddenly ran out of Mary Kay wipes. I'd rather buy a roll of toilet paper. They have only one advantage:

  • yes, they instantly stick to wet skin and absorb oil

Disadvantages of DIVAGE mattifying wipes:

  • There are only 50 of them in the package
  • The packaging for such napkins is inconvenient - the napkins themselves are thin, they lie in a pack, and when you try to get one, several still get stuck. Then you shove the extra ones back.
  • They are also small in size
  • These mattifying wipes are immediately soaked through as soon as they touch the skin. You can’t even dream of any double-sided absorption. Therefore, their consumption is high - I use 4-5 at a time, and on particularly hot days even more.
  • The price for this quantity, size and consumption is too high

In general, I won't buy it again. It's a pity for the money. And there is a lot of garbage. They are not suitable for summer at all, although my skin is not so oily that I can’t cope with it.

Mattifying wipes from AliExpress. Yes, I often shop on Ali and have found a lot of useful things there. One of them is matting wipes of very good quality for pennies! Advantages:

  • The price is ridiculous. Instead of one package of Letual's, here you will buy 6 or 7 packages for the same money. At the same time, there are also 50 of them, they are exactly the same size and absorb the same way.
  • Consumption: 2 napkins per face. That is, they absorb well. Not great though
  • They are not as thin and sticky as the previous ones, so even though they are in a pack, I take them out one at a time without any problems

Flaws:

  • Long delivery. When stocking up for summer, you need to order matting wipes on AliEspress back in April
  • Size small

I have already gotten used to ordering matting napkins in advance and in large quantities at once, so that they last for a long time. Convenient and cheap, and most importantly, they absorb well, do not spoil makeup, and I don’t feel sorry for them for such a price. I bought them here: https://ali.pub/qvpn1

Of course, this is a review of the mass market, and I fully admit that the deluxe may have better matting wipes than what I’m writing about here. But also more expensive. However, I believe that there is no point in buying expensive wipes - they are not absorbed into the skin, do not fight wrinkles and pigment, do not moisturize or nourish. This is just a de-shine paper, and you shouldn't overpay for it.

Mattifying wipes - what is this cosmetic accessory?

To answer the question - what is it, I suggest first taking a short excursion into history. It turns out that the first matting wipes were invented for American astronauts; they helped them get their face in order in a short time.

And after that, French cosmetics manufacturers caught on to their trick and offered their women a completely new product, which they were absolutely delighted with. Now representatives of different countries are happy to use this easy-to-use, but very effective accessory.

So, matting wipes are small-sized leaves that are designed to remove oily shine.

from the face, and can be made from the following materials:

  1. cellulose;
  2. rice paper;
  3. synthetic film;
  4. wood pulp.

Each of these materials does its job well, and they work due to their special impregnation and polymers, but some options may contain alcohol, so they are more harmful to the skin.

They can be produced both in envelopes and small cases, some of them may even contain a puff. They take up very little space and fit easily into your pocket. In fact, they are very economical; in one package the number of pieces can even reach 200, and sometimes even less - 50.
