Effective anti-cellulite massager: choosing the best 14 types

To improve the condition of the skin, many different products have been developed to help restore blood circulation in the tissues and speed up the removal of fat deposits. To avoid visiting a massage salon, you can purchase a roller massager for cellulite. It helps eliminate orange peel and tones the skin.

What is cellulite and how to fight it

Not everyone knows that cellulite is a disease that has the scientific name “lipodystrophy”. It is very easy to recognize skin changes. A so-called orange peel appears on the body, which becomes more pronounced with age; depressions, pits and bumps also appear that do not go away after moisturizing. The tan goes on unevenly and obvious depigmentation gradually appears.

The first step in treating pathology is to determine the location of development, since depending on the location, a certain type of exposure is prescribed. Statistics confirm that the most problematic areas of the skin are the thighs and buttocks; almost 96% of cases occur in this part. Cellulite appears much less frequently on the stomach, knees and arms, and this mainly depends on age-related changes. In addition, do not forget that cellulite does not appear on its own; its appearance is influenced by concomitant diseases of the body. The problem area of the buttocks is affected by impaired venous blood flow, obesity, cellulite in the abdominal area is affected by a disorder of the digestive system, and there are also cases of the formation of “orange peel” due to stress and diseases of muscle tissue or bones.

Mesotherapy –

This is a method of injecting medications that can improve venous outflow, restore blood microcirculation, activate lymphatic drainage, as well as activate lipolysis and slow down lipogenesis.
Mesotherapy treatment of cellulite consists of two main areas. First of all, this is capillary mesotherapy (lymphatic drainage vascular injection), which should be both main and local problem areas. For this, vascular and drainage preparations such as “GAG Complex DVL Capyl”, “Artichoke” or “Rutin + melilot extract” are used. These drugs will allow us to improve microcirculation, venous outflow and lymphatic drainage. Any methods of treating cellulite and working with local fat deposits are not effective without improving the functioning of the vascular and lymphatic systems. After all, when lipids leave fat cells into the intercellular space, they can only be removed through the lymphatic system. And if it doesn’t work, then the lipids from the destroyed fat cells are not removed anywhere and simply begin to be re-absorbed by the neighboring surviving fat cells.

The second stage of mesotherapy in the treatment of cellulite is active lipolysis of fat deposits using drugs called lipolytics. These drugs are injected through a needle or cannula into the fatty tissue, and they promote fat cell emptying (i.e., the removal of lipids from the fat cells into the intercellular space, from where they are evacuated by the lymphatic system). The treatment of cellulite using mesotherapy is described in detail by us in the article at the link provided.

Important: if you are ready to opt for hardware methods for treating cellulite (RF-lifting, ultrasonic cavitation or laser), then regardless of the chosen method, we recommend that you first, in any case, undergo a course of capillary mesotherapy with a mesotherapist lasting 4-6 procedures. Such a course will not only significantly improve the severity of the result from using any of the hardware techniques, but will also increase the duration of the treatment effect.

The cause of cellulite in women

Men practically do not suffer from this disease due to the specific structure of their skin. Moreover, the functionality of the female reproductive system is the main reason for the appearance of cellulite.

Pregnancy is the main factor influencing the manifestation of the first signs of cellulite. A woman's skin is specially tuned to stretch. Due to this, the connective layer is more pliable and weaker, unlike the skin of men.

The reproductive system of girls and the hormones that accompany it trigger an increase in the level of hyaluronic acid in the layers of the skin, sweating increases, and the level of hydration increases, which contributes to a change in soluble collagen and its transformation into an insoluble form. The whole process leads to difficult-to-remove changes in the upper layers of the epidermis and the appearance of the first signs of cellulite.

Ultrasonic cavitation: reviews

Ultrasound devices for the correction of fat deposits and cellulite are divided into two types. The first option is devices based on low-frequency ultrasound, operating on the principle of ultrasonic cavitation (without generating heat). But there is a second option - devices based on focused high-frequency ultrasound (HIFU), which we will discuss further below.

a) Low frequency ultrasound –

Exposure to low frequency ultrasound around 200 kHz causes the phenomenon of ultrasonic cavitation in biological tissues. The fact is that the intercellular space located between fat cells is filled not only with connective tissue, but also with intercellular fluid in which microscopic gas particles are dissolved. Ultrasound, acting on gas particles (cavitation nuclei), transforms them into microbubbles filled with gas and liquid vapor. An important feature is that in this case, tissue heating practically does not occur, i.e. no more than 0.5 degrees Celsius (24stoma.ru).

As the bubbles expand, they burst, damaging the membranes of fat cells, which leads to cell death and the release of fatty acids (lipids) contained within them into the intercellular space. Next, these fatty acids are removed from the tissues: 1) either naturally through the lymphatic system to the liver, where fatty acids are converted into energy, 2) or immediately after ultrasound exposure, the doctor aspirates a liquid containing the lipids of dead fat cells from the adipose tissue. This is done through a puncture of the skin using a syringe and cannula.

Devices based on low-frequency ultrasound cost from 10,000 rubles to 3 million rubles, and these devices operate in different ways. One of the few low-frequency ultrasound devices recommended by the FDA for the correction of fat deposits is the UltraShape device (Syneron Candela). It differs in that this device creates focused ultrasonic waves, and depending on the settings, focusing can be selected either at one point (in this mode, work occurs at a depth of about 15 mm), or at several points at different depths.

Focused ultrasound allows you to achieve a significantly higher level of cavitation, and therefore damages the membranes of fat cells much more effectively - unlike devices with conventional unfocused ultrasound, which, scattering in different directions, damages too few fat cells. Research shows that up to 70% of fat cells are destroyed at the points of exposure to focused low-frequency ultrasound. Let's see how effective low-frequency focused is in principle (reliable data from clinical studies).

Photo before after treatment with UltraShape (Syneron) –

Clinical studies - study Moreno-Moraga J., Valero-Altes T., Riquelme AM et al. "Body contouring by non-invasive transdermal focused ultrasound", published in Lasers Surg Med in 2007. There were 30 patients who underwent 3 treatment sessions on the UltraShape device, with an interval of 1 month. The authors reported a reduction in fat thickness of 2.28 cm (SD +/- 0.8 cm) and a reduction in mean circumference of 3.95 cm (SD +/- 1.99). The largest reductions were noted in the outer thighs and abdomen, with the inner thighs showing the smallest reduction.

Study by Ascher B. “Safety and efficacy of UltraShape Contour I treatments to improve the appearance of body contours: multiple treatments in shorter intervals”, published in the journal “Aesthet Surg” in 2010. 25 patients were treated and underwent 3 treatments with the UltraShape device, 2 weeks apart. There was a significant decrease in abdominal circumference (average 3.58 cm) 12 weeks after the last treatment session.

Conclusions: the numbers shown in both studies, after only 3 ultrasonic cavitation procedures (using focused ultrasound), are simply not achievable using devices using conventional unfocused ultrasound. Even if you undergo 7-10 procedures.

b) High Frequency Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) –

The second option is devices based on focused high-frequency ultrasound, which causes a focal increase in tissue temperature at the point of exposure to 56 ° Celsius. Such devices have the abbreviation “HIFU”. The destruction of fat cells under the influence of such ultrasonic waves occurs mainly due to their thermal damage, i.e. Coagulation necrosis and cell death occurs (while surrounding tissues, vessels and nerves are not damaged). Devices of this type may also have a slight cavitation effect, but it is only secondary.

With this technology, for thermal damage to fat cells and the start of lipolysis, it is enough to increase the temperature to 56° Celsius at each focal point (for just 1 second). At the same time, the temperature of the surface of the skin or surrounding tissues does not increase. Next, the destroyed fat cells and their contents are gradually removed by macrophages through the lymphatic system - after a single exposure, this process takes about 8 weeks.

This technology is effective when working with fatty deposits, but nevertheless, the main factor that limits its use is pain. As a result, there is a need for effective pain relief. After treatment using HIFU devices, patients complain of the following side effects - pain during treatment, pain after treatment, redness and swelling of tissues, hemorrhages on the surface of the skin. An example of a HIFU device for the correction of fat deposits and cellulite is the Liposonix device (Solta Medical).

Conclusions: HIFU devices based on high-frequency ultrasound have a smaller evidence base compared to devices based on low-frequency ultrasound, operating on the principle of ultrasonic cavitation. As for the latter, the only more effective of them are those devices that use the method of ultrasonic cavitation through focused ultrasonic waves. The advantages of treatment with such devices are a more pronounced result and its duration, and the disadvantages are the high price and cost of the procedures.

As for the duration of the effect of treatment with ultrasonic cavitation devices without ultrasonic wave focusing technology, studies show that cellulite returns to its original state within up to 12 weeks (from the date of the last procedure). But there is one more point that needs to be taken into account when considering the ultrasound method of treating cellulite. Any ultrasound devices are more designed to work specifically with fatty deposits (due to lipolysis of excess adipose tissue), and not to destroy fibrous adhesions.

And we draw attention to the fact that even such a powerful device based on focused ultrasound as UltraShape (Syneron) is approved by the FDA specifically for the correction of fat deposits, and not for the treatment of cellulite. Then what can we say about ultrasonic cavitation devices that operate on unfocused ultrasound. Therefore, if ultrasonic cavitation is used, it will be only for cellulite, which is largely associated with excessive development of adipose tissue (as the first stage of therapy).

In addition, ultrasonic cavitation will be completely ineffective - 1) for dry cellulite, i.e. in the absence of abundant fat deposits, 2) in patients with loose, flabby, atonic skin and muscles, 3) with an edematous form of cellulite, 4) in Asian patients due to the structural characteristics of adipose tissue.

Treatment methods

There are 6 stages of cellulite in total. The first is characterized by minor changes in the skin and is manifested by slight swelling and swelling. The second stage involves external signs, the manifestation of a bumpy relief, which is especially noticeable with muscle tension. The third is the most common stage of the disease and is manifested by clear “orange peel” contours, especially when the skin fold gathers. Fourth, the skin is lumpy, highly textured, uneven, and even with complete relaxation, visible problem areas remain. The fifth and sixth stages are practically untreatable and spread throughout the body.

Today the following methods of cosmetic treatment are used:

  • wrap;
  • mesotherapy;
  • massage;
  • ozone therapy;
  • LPG massage;
  • shock wave therapy;
  • electrical stimulation;
  • carboxytherapy;
  • electrolipolysis
  • RF lifting.

Concept of anti-cellulite massager mechanism

The principle of operation of the massager is a mechanical effect on the outer and inner layers of the skin, thereby restoring the process of normal movement of the circulatory system through the vessels. Ultimately, the device eliminates two problems. Firstly, the supply of cells with nutrients and oxygen is restored, and secondly, they are timely cleansed from decay products. Internal mechanisms restore the primary process, the layers of the epidermis become dense and elastic again, unevenness is smoothed out, and problem areas return their natural smoothness and healthy appearance. In addition, the device creates additional movements that allow the process to penetrate deep into the muscles and eliminate fat accumulation.

Despite the obvious effective methods of operation of the device, it is not able to remove cellulite forever. As mentioned above, to completely eliminate the problem, it is necessary to select a comprehensive treatment. It includes massage, diet, sports, wraps, creams, and it is also important to try to eliminate the primary disease of the body.

Device efficiency

The anti-cellulite massager has the following proven effectiveness:

  • activates blood flow and lymph flow;
  • restarts the metabolic process in the epidermis;
  • reduces swelling by removing excess fluid;
  • eliminates excess fat layers;
  • eliminates the “orange peel”;
  • restores the original appearance of the skin, restoring smoothness and elasticity;
  • improves muscle tone;
  • Due to a special massage, it removes not only excess fluid, but also harmful toxins and impurities;
  • promotes skin regeneration;
  • It is also used as a prophylaxis against stagnant processes in the body.

Advantages of the device

  • the massager is easy to use and does not require special professional skills;
  • due to the simple but effective mechanism of action, it practically does not cause side effects;
  • visible result, even after the first use;
  • low cost;
  • The device is lightweight and oversized, which allows you to take it on any trip.

Disadvantages of the device

The only disadvantages of the massager include contraindications. It is prohibited to use the device in the following cases:

  • during the period of bearing a child and breastfeeding;
  • heart pathologies;
  • unhealed cuts, abrasions and other damage to the skin;
  • oncological diseases;
  • skin pathologies: dermatitis, dermatosis, psoriasis, etc.;
  • infectious diseases;
  • high blood pressure;
  • rheumatism is a disease of joints of various stages;
  • blood diseases that do not stop bleeding well.

In some cases, other symptoms may appear due to individual intolerance and skin sensitivity.

Before you start choosing a device, you need to consult with a doctor and cosmetologist, who, based on the collected medical history and examination, will tell you the exact diagnosis and methods of treating cellulite.

Application of laser and light –

This includes 2 types of devices - based on infrared light and lasers. There are a large number of inexpensive devices for the treatment of cellulite, the working mechanism of which is infrared light. In fact, they are all simply ineffective, and it is not worth spending money on them - even in cases where light exposure is combined with massage rollers, vacuum or pulsed electromagnetic fields. As for lasers, devices with wavelengths of 1064 nm or 1320 nm are effective against cellulite, but they give good results only up to stage 2 (inclusive).

When fibrosis of connective tissue fibers already occurs and micro- and macronodules (nodes of enlarged fat cells limited by fibrous capsules) are formed in the fatty tissue, which corresponds to the 3-4 stages of cellulite - non-invasive laser devices with wavelengths of 1064 nm or 1320 nm are already will not give a noticeable result. The only laser technology that has proven effective in treating stages 3-4 of cellulite is the following type of laser - Cellulaze (American company Cynosure).

The Cellulaze laser is an Nd:YAG laser with a wavelength of 1440 nm. Moreover, the laser fiber is made in the form of a blunt-ended cannula, which is inserted into the subcutaneous fat through a skin puncture. After insertion into the tissue, the doctor makes a fan-shaped back-and-forth movement with the cannula, which allows mechanical destruction of fibrous connective tissue fibers and fibrous walls of micro- and macronodules. But in addition to the mechanical effect, there is also a second mechanism at work here. The fact is that the cannula is a laser fiber (conductor).

Short pulses of laser radiation also allow us to destroy fibrous adhesions (this will allow us to remove the orange peel) + lipolysis is activated. You can see the effect after 1 procedure in Fig. 6-7, but usually patients with 3-4 stages of cellulite require 2 or 3 procedures, respectively. The before and after photos are from a clinical study by DiBernardo et al., 2020, so you can completely trust these results.

How to remove cellulite on legs in 1 procedure – (photos taken before and after 1 procedure with the Cellulaze laser)

Important: in essence, this invasive laser technology resembles the technology for administering lipolytics using a cannula (but in this case the cannula will not be a source of laser radiation). Those. Using a blunt-ended cannula, which is also inserted into the fatty tissue through a puncture of the skin, we will break the fibrous fibers of the connective tissue in the fatty tissue. This is done mechanically, making back-and-forth movements, after which we will introduce a lipolytic solution into the separated fatty tissue through this cannula.

It turns out that, in fact, at 3-4 stages of cellulite, only such invasive technologies will be truly effective - 1) the use of the Cellulaze laser, in which the light fiber is made in the form of a cannula, 2) the use of a cannula for separating fatty tissue with the introduction of a lipolytic solution. And if in the first case we need expensive laser equipment + an individual disposable cannula for $500 as a conductor of laser radiation, then in the second case we only need a cannula for 600 rubles, a syringe and a lipolytic solution. You can read more about the second method here .

Video procedure with Cellulaze 1440 nm laser –

Important: the use of the Cellulaze laser in the treatment of cellulite additionally leads to: 1) an increase in the thickness of the dermis by 25%, which is confirmed by ultrasound examination of tissue, 2) an improvement in skin elasticity by 29%. These data are available in the clinical study by DiBernardo B.E., Reyes J. “Evaluation of skin tightening after laser liposuction” (published in the scientific journal “Aesthet Surg” in 2009).

Types and characteristics of the massager

There are three types of anti-cellulite massager: mechanical, vacuum and vibration. Next, in the table we consider the characteristic features of each type, which are the fundamental selection criteria.

It is worth noting that mechanical devices are low in price, unlike other types.

Some devices perform a minor impact, thereby eliminating only minor problems High in price, but there is a great guarantee of eliminating problem areas. Also, such a massage can be very painful and leave skin irritation.

What is a massage roller?

A roller massager is a roller-shaped device with grooved, wave-shaped and toothed attachments. A set of profiles affects deposits under the skin and nerve endings, thereby stimulating natural metabolism. The main signs of cellulite gradually disappear: blood circulation improves, the skin becomes smooth and soft.

The device for home use has small rollers located on the handle or a ring with teeth. The advantage of such a massager is that anyone can use it after reading the instructions. The procedure will resemble a classic massage without any marks or redness on the skin.

How to use a massager correctly

Skin preparation is a prerequisite before starting a procedure using an anti-cellulite massager. It is also necessary to study the process methodology: massage lines. If you follow the rules of use according to the instructions below, this will relieve pain, bruising and return the skin to a healthy appearance.

  1. Warm up the area of application with various creams by rubbing the skin.
  2. The movement of the massager can be either circular or from bottom to top. Random use of the device is not allowed.
  3. Lie on your back and start the massage from the abdominal area moving to the waist. Spend no more than five minutes on the zone.
  4. Next, move on to the most problematic areas: buttocks, thighs, legs. In this part of the body, longer use is necessary, but no more than 10 minutes per zone.
  5. If there is a need for exposure to the skin of the back or arms, then seek help. Spend no more than three minutes on the area.
  6. If pain or skin irritation occurs, you should immediately stop the procedure.
  7. For an electrical device, initially select the lowest mode, gradually increasing it. If the device is manual, then start with a light massage, ending with increased pressure on the handle.
  8. Ideal time period for the procedure: first half of the day. The device perfectly stimulates the skin, which gives additional charge and energy for the rest of the day. If it is convenient to use the massager in the evening, then try to start treatment at least 2 hours before bedtime.
  9. The course should be conducted no more than 2-3 days a week. With frequent use, the skin may form bruises.
  10. Duration of massage is 1 course per month. After two weeks, you can begin a new period of use.

After the entire procedure, it is necessary to complete the process by patting. It is also recommended to take a shower and additionally treat the body with anti-cellulite products.

Hardware massage for cellulite - what happens

My task today is not to convince you in favor of this or a method, but only to introduce you to hardware massage, its varieties, the problems it solves, and to pay attention to recommendations and contraindications for the use of massage devices.

SEE DETAILS

In comparison with manual methods of influencing problem areas, high-quality hardware massage reaches deep layers of subcutaneous tissue, which are very difficult to reach with manual massage, an exception may be Gua Sha massage. Hardware massage not only reduces the time to obtain the effect of procedures, but also improves the general condition as a whole. Some doctors even advise, instead of carrying out radical treatment (liposuction), to try hardware anti-cellulite procedures first.

Modern massage devices are divided into types:

  • vacuum;
  • vibration;
  • hydromassage;
  • roller;
  • magnetic;
  • ultrasonic.

Let's figure out what types of hardware anti-cellulite massage are used in salons.

Vacuum hardware massage

This type of massage targets problem areas using an air compressor. It sucks out air and pumps it in using the movement of a piston. Under pressure, a vacuum is formed into which the skin is drawn, and then, when the nozzle of the device is smoothly moved, liquid is released from the intercellular space, the fat layer disintegrates, and the skin is leveled.

Vibrating anti-cellulite devices

Their effects on problem areas of the body occur with the help of amplitude oscillations of various speeds, which break up the subcutaneous tubercles. The skin is tightened and the relief is evened out. Some models contain infrared emitters. Due to heat rays, fat deposits are broken down and the effect of the massage occurs faster. Each attachment acts on a specific area of the body.

Hydro massagers

Anti-cellulite hydromassage is carried out using a compressor that delivers narrowly targeted jets of water under pressure. Targeted jets of water break up fatty plaques and even out the surface of the skin.

Pressotherapy

This kind of hardware massage involves alternating the impact on the body with regular air and compressed air. To do this, wear a special suit made of elastic cuffs. This procedure improves blood circulation, removes excess fluid from cells and crushes subcutaneous deposits in all problem areas at once.

Myostimulators

Massage with the help of myostimulators is called gymnastics for the lazy. The impact on problem areas occurs using electrical impulses. Using a muscle stimulator for the press, for example, you can not only get rid of cellulite, but also tighten your muscles. The Sweet Sweat weight loss belt has a similar effect.
