Many types of decorative cosmetics cannot be washed off with ordinary water. And not even some, but almost all. This leads to clogged pores, the appearance deteriorates, and new cosmetics do not apply well. Therefore, to maintain healthy skin, you must learn how to remove facial makeup.

“No big deal,” you might think. After all, now the store sells all kinds of makeup removers - you just need to buy any of them. However, not all so simple.

Makeup removers

To say that there are a lot of them is to say nothing. Each woman chooses a product for her skin type, its characteristics and age. The main rule: the product should not be too greasy and should not contain alcohol or alkali. In general, makeup removers can be divided into several groups:

1. Cosmetic milk and cream, as a rule, have a creamy, fatty consistency and contain a large number of appropriate additives. They are suitable for dry, irritation-prone, combination and mature skin.

2. Makeup remover water simultaneously cleanses and tones, thanks to its light texture.

3. Gels, mousses and foams are used only with water. This is perhaps the most optimal way to remove makeup, which gives a feeling of freshness and cleanliness to the skin, removes

inflammation and regulates the functioning of the sebaceous glands. These products are well suited for oily and combination skin prone to inflammation.

4. Dermatological soap is suitable for any skin: advantageously combining the benefits of foam and milk, it gives a moisturizing effect to dry skin and health to problematic skin.

5. Tonic is usually suitable for all skin types and can be used as a supplement after using cosmetic milk or as a stand-alone product.

6. Eye makeup remover is indispensable for the delicate skin of this area. They contain special components that carefully dissolve cosmetics and do not have a harmful effect on the skin of the eyes. On the contrary, they care for the skin of the eyelids, giving it a feeling of cleanliness and freshness. All products undergo ophthalmological control, and therefore, even if they accidentally get into the eye, they do not cause painful reactions.

7. Makeup removing wipes combine the benefits of all products. They can be soaked in any cleansing composition, and are suitable even for oily skin because they contain bactericidal substances that tighten pores. The main advantage is ease of use: you can take them with you anywhere, because they take up very little space.

Cleansing and makeup removal. Stages and means. Theory and practice. My experience

Hello everyone. Today I would like to talk about facial cleansing. If someone had told me 7 years ago that I would wash off my makeup not with laundry soap, but with a special product, and then wash off this product with another product, and remove the remnants of both with a third one... I would have simply laughed in his face! But times change, and over the years my attitude towards makeup removal and facial cleansing has changed. A certain system has even been developed.

First, a few words about my skin: combination, oily in the T-zone, with periodic inflammation and peeling.

I divided the post into 2 parts: theoretical and practical.

First, a little theory. Theoretical part.

I cleanse my face differently for different occasions: there is morning, there is evening, and there is summer, especially for temperatures of +30 or more.

I'll start with the most extensive, evening

.

I believe that it is better to remove makeup from the face in several stages, the same applies to heavy contamination, for example, after a long walk around the city or dusty work.

1.

My first go-to is
makeup remover milk.
I've tried several different ones and not all are equally good.
However, without milk in general it’s very hard for me. I would love to replace the milk with hydrophilic oil, but the first pancake with Spivak oil was lumpy, so I’m still in ambush (I’m hunting and looking closely, I still don’t know where to start). Usually, in the instructions for the milk, the manufacturer does as much as he can: either he suggests applying the milk directly to your makeup, or he even says to use a cotton pad. What a horror. Use a shaggy hard cotton pad to smear the greasy substance over your face. I understand why not everyone likes makeup remover milk. Over the course of several years, I developed my own technique: apply milk to a wet face with wet hands. And then smear, smear, smear this whole mess over your face. By the way, I also cleanse my eyes with milk, so it’s important to me that it doesn’t sting. This happens quite rarely (in my practice there is only one case), which is a pity. Next, I wash off all the porridge with water. There are remnants of cosmetics and a greasy feeling on the face (sometimes fatty-acid, sometimes fatty-starchy, depending on the milk). Already a little tired, but satisfied, I move on to the next stage.
2. Micellar water.

I’ll be honest, I heard about micellar water a long time ago, but I resisted for a long time and didn’t want to try it. Then I gave up. I bought a pink Garnier. I didn't like the process at all. If there was not enough water on the cotton pad, then I involuntarily rubbed my skin. If there is a lot, it runs down your face. If in moderation, I was still unhappy, because trying to remove makeup only with micellar, I wasted 10 cotton pads at a time (yes, I feel sorry for the cotton!). And still the face was not cleaned. I even tried to cheat, like with milk, pouring micellar water into my hand and smearing it over my face. Needless to say, this method was a failure. So, now micellar water is the second stage for me, completing the cleansing of what the milk couldn’t handle. I spend 1 cotton pad, moisten it generously, but so as not to drip onto my face.

3.

But the micellar also needs to be washed off!
Therefore, the third step is a facial toner.
It can be a cleanser, but I rarely buy them.
More often it is a moisturizing or soothing
tonic that does not work well for its intended purpose.
I pour it onto a cotton pad and finish cleansing my face. Then I wash my face with water. In general, I wash my face with water after each stage
, if possible (and it usually is). And usually after washing with water, I proceed to applying care.

But: 4.

This item is optional and is present in cleansing quite
rarely
. Once a week under normal conditions or even less often. There are periods (usually in the fall and spring, and sometimes in the winter) when I wash my face with soap once a month. Everything is simple here - an ordinary gel or facial foam, sometimes just soap, but the other day I even tried to wash my face. If I ever come across a well-cleansing but very soft foam, I will wash my face more often, I promise)))

How do I wash my face in the morning

?

At night I usually use a treatment that includes serum, face and eye cream and oil, and also toner. Something needs to be done about this in the morning. I wash my face with water

.
In the process, I listen to myself. And yes, sometimes washing with water is enough for me. But from time to time I use a cotton pad with tonic
(still the same, soothing or moisturizing).
And then I wash my face with water again
. So that.

In the heat

from 30 degrees or more (approximately, of course) I use
soap
. If possible, I can wash my face with it and 5! once a day. However, it is worth noting that in extreme heat I do not use decorative cosmetics (well, except for my eyebrows), and immediately after washing my face I moisturize my face with serum (every time). I don’t use other cleansers in hot weather.

Let me summarize briefly .

After a smooth transition from washing with soap to cleansing in several stages, the skin condition improved. Care has also changed. However, I attribute the reduction in the number of comedones, less clean pores (mine are narrow and deep) and a decrease in the amount of peeling (since I rarely use soaps) to cleansing in several stages.

So it goes. This was the theoretical part, but now I suggest you familiarize yourself with

The practical part.

Here are the makeup remover and cleansing products that I use now. I liked some of them, while others, to put it mildly, left me indifferent. I propose to consider my most intense cleansing and makeup removal ritual, which includes all 5 products.

1. Planter's Acidoialuronico Anti-age Toning milk Toning cleanser All skin types.

I've been curious for a long time: is it worth paying more? Usually, when asking this question, girls switch to a more budget-friendly product, and then make a verdict. I had previously used the budget Vitex milk, so it couldn’t have been cheaper and I wanted to try a more expensive cleanser. Especially anti-aging. Especially with hyaluronic acid. It is impossible to resist, like in front of Rafaelka. The milk is in a bottle, and the bottle is in a box. The design, in my humble opinion, is top notch. I especially like the bottle: rubberized, matte plastic, with a very convenient transparent cap and an excellent dispenser. Both the box and the bottle are labeled with the name of the milk in English, Italian and French. 150 ml. It is not tested on animals, but I hope it is at least tested on humans. The milk is white with a bluish tint, dense, but liquid. And smelly. Smells like spoiled panthenol. Unpleasant pharmaceutical smell. Ugh. To remove light makeup, two pumps are enough; for heavy makeup, three is enough. I’ve been using it since the beginning of summer, and I didn’t do heavy makeup on myself very often, so I used the milk quite sparingly—as much as 2/3 was left. I think things will get better in the fall. Removes makeup well, leaves traces of products on the eyes, and a sour-greasy feeling all over the face. This option of cleansing with my approach completely suits me. However, I don't like the feeling during use. The milk is hot. And when I remove eye makeup with circular massage movements, it burns as if I were rubbing red pepper tincture. Perhaps it’s the hyaluronic acid, but I didn’t look younger while using this product, so I consider this burning effect inappropriate. Well, if it gets into your eyes, then, of course, it also stings. Of course, one can object and say that makeup should be removed from the face with one product, and from the eyes - with a special product for removing eye makeup... But I do not accept these ideas. My eyes are on my face, and if the manufacturer doesn’t warn that the area around the eyes should be avoided, I don’t avoid it. In all respects it turned out to be so average. In this particular case, the answer to the question “is it worth paying more?” - No.

I bought it in winter for 8.5 USD.

2. Ziaja Ulga Micellar makeup remover.

I’ll make a couple of lyrical digressions here. 1. Let me call the company sweet and sincere Zaya. The fact is that all this will be pronounced as [zh'aya], which is best expressed in writing as Zhya, but we don’t speak or write like that, do we? 2. I also wanted to write that my sticker said “mecellar”, then I went deeper into reading and was slightly shocked by the translation. I would prefer to make do with the Polish text, but the sticker with the translation is stuck tightly((Still, I will write excerpts from the translation: “provides safety, acts as a soothing compress”, “moisten the tampon with liquid”, “it does not require rinsing”... Hello, Google translator ! So, closer to the body. The bottle is nice and comfortable, blue transparent, white hinged cap, 200 ml. The liquid is transparent, if you shake the bottle it foams. The aroma is so unnoticeable that one can consider it absent, floral-cosmetic. With residue The milk does a great job of putting on makeup after, it doesn’t sting, it doesn’t sting, it doesn’t hurt my eyes. Afterwards I wash my face with water, and that would be the end of removing makeup and cleansing. But no.

at the beginning of the year 3 dollars.

3. Belita Platinum Facial tonic lotion with platinum.

I would immediately like to draw your attention to the spelling of the word “Belita”. The manufacturer, who had previously written in Latin, had already changed his mind from “Bilit” and “Bielit”, began to write in Russian, and put a heart next to the inscription, like, look how it should be. And then Bielita... What kind of elite, what are you talking about? Although, having only a name written in Latin, you really don’t know how to approach it. The packaging puzzled me. Why does tonic need such a dispenser? It would be suitable for a fluid cream or serum, but it spews out tonic like a fire extinguisher foam. Initially there was also a transparent cap, but I threw it away as unnecessary. The cosmetic smell is pleasant. I pour the toner onto a cotton pad and finish cleansing my face. I also often use this tonic immediately before applying care, but since it is next to cleansers, it often falls under the hot hand and is involved in cleansing. This way and that he showed himself well. Pleasant tonic, I like it, I don’t rule out that I will repeat it someday. I don’t consider it as a separate tool at all. A very sociable friend.

4. Green Mama Soothing tonic for facial skin prone to unsightly redness with seaweed.

But this product ended up among the cleansing products precisely because it failed to cope with its direct responsibilities. But first things first. The packaging is voluminous, as much as 300 ml. Not everyone can do it. Moreover, the shelf life after opening is 4 months. The cap is screw-on, which is not very convenient, but tolerable, although I pour it into a bottle with a hinged cap. The smell of mint candies. It doesn't seem like a bad smell, but it's sickeningly sweet. Too much flavoring. It cleans well, which is why I ended up in this post. But I can argue about the promised calming properties. The manufacturer explains on the reverse side that the unaesthetic redness is rosacea meant. I wouldn’t have thought of it, but ok, I also have rosacea. But it doesn’t calm anything down (After using the tonic, the face looks as usual, but it feels as if it’s baking rather than cooling, which is interesting in the presence of mint essential oil. Although, maybe it’s the acids in the tonic... For me, this is a mystery. Also it evaporates and at the same time gets into your eyes, and they water. Oh, and it’s sticky. 2 out of 5, but still. Using it without washing it off is, of course, unpleasant, which is why, I repeat, it ended up among the wash-off cleansers .

5. Yves Rocher Pure Calmille Cleansing gel facial cleansing gel.

I like the chamomile series from Yves Rocher. Mainly, of course, because of the packaging. Previously, I used milk and lotion and I really liked it, now there is no milk, I don’t remember about the lotion, I still have a 2 in 1 product, but it’s somehow not very good. Thinking about it, I chose this gel. The packaging is nice, it opens with a creak, which is annoying, and you can’t put it upside down either, which I also don’t like. The gel is quite thick, green, with a suspension of bubbles. I don’t know, of course, but they probably shook the vat of gel on purpose to create such beauty. Really beautiful. The smell is pleasant, fresh chamomile. Lathers well. The most ordinary washing gel, unremarkable. Medium hardness. This, of course, is not a beldi, after which the skin risks bursting, but it is not a soft gel either. I’ve never had any soft ones, but sometimes I secretly dream about our meeting. It washes off the face well and does not leave any slipperiness. This is a definite plus. If you don't immediately use a moisturizer, it tightens and dries out the skin. Average.

Rules for removing cosmetics from your face

Don't forget that the skin on your face is delicate and reacts sharply to any irritants. So forget about force and friction. Especially if you don’t want to stretch your muscles and get wrinkles ahead of time. Get used to light, gentle and smooth movements.

To benefit from makeup removal, learn the rules for removing makeup from your face:

Start with the eyes. If you like bright makeup, then you probably draw arrows, apply shadows and make thick eyelashes. First of all, remove the mascara. It is important to prevent its lumps from getting on the mucous membrane of the eyes. This will lead to irritation and redness. To avoid unpleasant consequences, take two cotton pads and apply cleanser. Then place one near the lower eyelid and close your eye. Place the second disc on top of your eyelashes. Stand with your eyes closed for 2-3 minutes. Next, move along the eyelashes from top to bottom, removing any remaining makeup. If it is inconvenient to remove the disc, use an ear stick. The mascara will remain on the second disc. Now let's start removing the pencil and shadows. Take two more discs and apply milk. Then close your eyes and place the cotton on your eyelids. After a minute, carefully remove makeup.

To prevent the skin from stretching and crow's feet from appearing, make the correct movements. Wipe the upper eyelid from the outer corner to the outer, the lower eyelid, making reverse movements.

Lip cleansing. Many girls skip this stage. If the lipstick is not long-lasting, then by the evening it is absorbed, eaten, and the lips visually look cleansed. In fact, lipstick remains remain and therefore require removal. Otherwise, your lips will crack and become dry. Makeup removal is carried out with a cotton pad. Apply cleanser to it and swipe it over your lips. Start from the corner of your lips, removing lipstick in a circular motion. At the same time, you should not stretch your lips. If you are not sure that you will perform light movements, then hold the corner of your lips with your finger. Facial makeup removal. This is the final stage. The procedure depends on the type of product used. If you use milk, apply it to the sponges. Then clean the forehead, cheekbones, and nose. Pay attention to the nasolabial hollows, this is where blackheads appear. Finish the makeup removal by removing makeup from the chin. Perform smooth movements, as if you were doing a facial massage. If you are using a cleanser, apply it to the skin and gently smear it. Give the foam time to take effect. Then wash off the makeup with water. Don't forget to clean your eyebrows. The hairs hide the remnants of cosmetics.

All that remains is to take care of the skin on your neck. It is this area that reveals a woman’s age. To prevent your skin from looking flabby and unkempt, swipe the product over your skin. At the same time, prevent double chin. Make gentle movements from your chin to your collarbone. Take a new piece of cotton wool each time. A clean sponge means that makeup has been removed correctly.

Hardware makeup remover method

Deeper cleansing is carried out in a salon, using professional line products and equipment. The first thing a cosmetologist does is assess the individual characteristics of the client’s skin and the presence of allergic reactions.

Selects the most effective method of cleansing the skin, this can be hardware peeling, a massage method, or a contrast shower technique.
The frequency of such manipulations has certain limits; an experienced cosmetologist gives his recommendations for further facial skin care. Did you like the article? Share information with your friends!

Makeup remover for dry skin. Makeup removal technique

The makeup removal process will require certain skills and knowledge of the basic rules. Remember that the wrong approach to makeup remover will eventually lead to excessive stretching of the skin, which, despite all its elasticity, will respond to this with additional wrinkles. In order to avoid such a nuisance, you need to remove makeup with smooth, leisurely movements, adhering to the main massage lines: from the center of the forehead to the temple, from the nose to the temples and ears, and then from the middle of the chin to the ear.

Stages of makeup removal

  • Removing makeup from lips. Cosmetologists recommend carrying out this procedure with fatty creamy products, that is, special milk or cream. The product is applied to a cotton pad, after which the lipstick is removed by moving from the corners of the mouth to its middle. When working with long-lasting lipsticks and tints, first you need to hold the disc soaked in makeup remover on your lips (30 seconds), and then begin to cleanse the pigment.
  • Eye makeup removal is considered one of the most difficult and important stages, since the skin in this area is delicate and very easily injured. First of all, they begin to remove the shadows, moving in the direction from the inner corner to the temporal part. If you paint the lower eyelid, then you need to move along it in the opposite direction: from the outer part of the eye to the inner corner. Then they remove mascara from the eyelashes, moving from the root zone to the tips (and not as many are used to - simply moving the disc or fingers in one direction or the other). The most responsible girls can listen to the recommendations of cosmetologists and cut the disc into two parts, each of which is moistened with makeup remover. Then the resulting crescents are placed under the lower eyelid, and the mascara is removed with another disc, and the product must be given 20-30 seconds so that it begins to dissolve the decorative pigment. This method will maximize the protection of the skin under the eyes from stretching. At this stage, it is recommended to use a two-phase product, micellar water or hydrophilic oil.
  • Facial cleansing. This stage involves getting rid of a layer of foundation, blush and powder, so you can use one of the many special products such as foam, gel, milk, oil or micellar water. The makeup removal technique at this stage depends on the chosen cosmetic product for cleansing. For example, it is better to apply foamed gel to a moistened face, hydrophilic oil to a dry face, and first warm the milk in your hands.
  • Toning. At the last stage, you should definitely apply a tonic to the skin, which will remove small particles of dirt, make the skin fresher and nourish it with moisture, preparing the face to accept all the beneficial products from creams or serums.

EYES - AREA OF SPECIAL ATTENTION

Eye makeup removal is a cosmetic procedure that must be approached with full responsibility. Removing makeup from the eyes requires special care and thoroughness, since the skin in this area is especially delicate and sensitive. To remove eye makeup, you must use products that have passed ophthalmological control. They should contain components that enrich the skin, dissolve makeup and give the skin of the eyelids a feeling of cooling calm. In addition, cosmetics for removing eye and eye makeup help reduce puffiness and circles under the eyes.

Due to the fact that modern makeup is often very intense, using waterproof cosmetics, only thorough makeup removal will help to cleanse your face. What it is? This is a high-quality cleansing of the facial skin from long-lasting cosmetics using professional cosmetics. To remove makeup from such long-lasting products, liquid lotions are most often used, which effectively dissolve makeup and at the same time gently cleanse the eyelids and eyelashes without irritating the eyes.
